I will ALWAYS attempt to revive another player, unless they have been spending the entire match on the other side of the map from the rest of the group trying to be a solo hero and this is the 3+ time I'm racing across map to get them.

This. Big time.

Although, truth-be-told, I have gotten caught up in killing sprees before and gone all Leroy Jenkins into an area I should not be. Usually this is the case when I play vanguards.

Mostly I only revive if they die next to me and there are no enemies with instakill abilities in the vicinity (else I might revive them into instant death).

I also revive sometimes when I pretend to play as a medic, but that is just stupid most of the time. In reality, I like to let people use their medigels if they die so the game can move on faster and smoother.

And to be honest, my regular teammates usually don't die more than 1-5 times a match anyway so reviving them is totally pointless.

I always try to revive a downed player, but it's subject to the following caveats:

1. If they die in a bad place (classic example: TURRETS) that makes it exceedingly difficult to revive them without getting downed myself. No point in having two guys down instead of just one.

2. I'm completing an objective like disarming triggers or carrying the pizza. In my opinion, completing objectives trumps ALL other priorities. The only exception is if the objective is a group one like hacking or drone escort, and the downed player is close enough that I can duck out, revive him, and be back within 5 seconds.

3. The player has shown consistently poor sportsmanship, such as yelling insults at other players etc.

Love the post. A few comments

1. If the squad is setup optimally, there should be an infiltrator (unless the inf went down) that should be able to make aplay near a turret. They are not alwayin the squad though so I understand your point.

2. You're such a renegade...its all about the mission

3. Missle glitchers....if they go down, let em burn!

i've done this countless times when i  go to revive someone and end up taking out the mob and then reviving the person only to get killed after i revived him

I will almost always try to revive any player. The only exceptions are:

1. If they are too far away. I will however gladly provide covering fire for someone who is closer.
2. If doing so risks failing the objective. If I am doing a 1234 hack, I will not stop the one I am on until it is done or I am under fire. I will not chase downed players around while carrying the pizza unless they are very close by, or along my path anyways.
3. If I there are just too many near by enemies to have a reasonable chance of success.
4. If there is a pyro, phantom, or banshee standing on top of them. I can't count how many times some cloaked infiltrator has rushed to my rescue, only to get both of us instakilled by the two banshees on top of me.

I don't care if someone is a lousy player, bad team player, rambo, or N7 1. I will revive them if possible. If nothing else, they can serve as cannon fodder...

This. i.e. Same here. :)

I used to revive no matter what (infiltrators job) but more and more i question it.

It was never an Infiltrator's obligation to revive people.

I almost always go with the Krogan Nurse(Vanguard), they are never in peril :D

I played a u/u/s game tonight where we drew geth/hydra. Bleh.

I went down a few times do to ridiculous glitches, and my teammates sacrificed them selves to bring me back. I always got them up, too,though...chain overload is so useful ;-)

I actually love when the timing is just right... you run up, see a trooper about to stomp your squadmate, and you Overload the bastard, kill him, and revive FTW.

There has ever been only two players I left to die. One was leecher (pre-autokick) and the other was the mother of all idiot vanguards.

Me good squad buddie! me do revive as often as needed

But!!!!!!!!!!!

On a FBWGG farming match I tend to let the rambo heros bleed out, otherwise I will risk a wipe.
I'm not that good and I've experienced wipes just because I went down too...

There is no right or wrong answer to this. The thing is not to plan in advance. I've been playing this game since March, and I still make the stupidest mistakes - like flying over the side on FB White screaming 'nooooo' trying to reach a downed player, only to land and get ripped to shreds by the two turrets, atlas, engineer and two phantoms. Image IPB

I suppose on a Platinum match you really need to run the logistics and carry out the ruthless calculus - if someone keeps dying I guess you should just sacrifice them for the 'stronger' players (the ones that look after themselves). Depends a lot on the situation and how crazy your reaction is depending on how many enemies there are. Image IPB

first couple of waves I'll revive anyone I can, later on I can already tell if it's worth the risk

If I'm an infiltrator I will, otherwise, probably not.

If it's tactically sound, sure. I'll often do it while playing my GE, laying down a fresh turret even to regenerate their shields as they stand. My TSent has the DR to get in and revive even through cross fire. As an infiltrator, I'll do my best if I can clear the area.

It's all comes down to how much it's going to cost the team without that player, and if it's worth getting to the downed player to get them back up.Do I need the manpower to complete the round? Do I need to expend consumables just to get to that player. Do I have enough time, if it's an objective round, to revive them? Sometimes the cold equation necessitates one be sacrificed so the mission can continue.

I actually always try to revive a downed teammate. But sometimes it is also what brings me down.
I think almost a third of the time i try to revive someone i either go down or do so a few seconds after.
Probably because of the lag that usually requires me to press the A button twice to try to register/revive a player.

The only time i immediately don't go and try to revive a down player is during pizza delivery, escort mission, hack objectives. unless they are in the near vicinity.
