I have been waiting for a complete version to come around, but so far it either isn't gonna happen, or it is gonna take a while longer.

I noticed DA II on sale at amazon for 8 bucks, so 12 and change with shipping..  i figured, ok, cheep enough and i bought it.

So far it seems like only one acutal content, DLC with Talis,  , and then something called legacy??

am i missing any content packs, or is the extra's really just those gear items for 400 points..  (i only have 80 points, so i would need to shell out another 20 bucks to get it all,   i'm really just thinking i should spend 10 and just get the mark of assassin dlc..

basically just trying to get a handle on what the extra's are and whats worth getting..  I just got sick of waiting, and another playthrough on origins at the moment, has me itching for something new..

but now the DLC i noticed, i think there are 3 content ones total??  and possibly 2 characters to join with?   Do they play the rest of the campaign with you like shale?   or is it something like lelian's song, that you just play with them in the adventure pack?

i noticed it says you can play some at any point.. are there certain points you would want to go through, or wait for something to do one?   just trying to get a handle on what i should get, for a fun first play through..

Story DLCs:
The Exiled Prince: new companion. Prince of Starkhaven and member of the Chantry. He adds good perspective from that side of the story. Also has Leliana in it eventually, if that is your thing. He stays the whole game.
Legacy: Grey Warden based. Easily one of BioWare's best DLCs yet.
Mark of the Assassin: The one with Tallis. Another one of BioWare's best DLCs yet. Also has Leliana in it. Tallis is only for the DLC.

And there are 2 item pack dlcs.

Edit: forgot about The Black Emporium, it is a store and gives you a mabari. A little too pricey for it though, it was free with "new" copies.

The Exiled Prince is decent. Like Tommy said, it give you an extra companion for the entire game. Unfortunately that companion, Sebastian, is not for everyone. If you're not playing a religious character or don't like devout Andrastians he's pretty annoying.

Legacy is very good. It adds to Darkspawn lore, Awakening lore, and Hawke family lineage. And the combat is great. If the actual game had played like this it would have been very good.

Mark of the Assassin IMO is a waste of time. It was just an excuse to put Felicia Day in the game. Her character, Tallis, is just a temporary companions and the quest you do is not at all major or relevant to any greater plots. It's just a self-contained story that doesn't mean much.

The Black Emporium is worth buying if it doesn't come with your game(not sure if they don't include it any more) because it gives you access to extremely useful items and grants access to a "mirror" that lets you change your appearance. DA2 takes place over the better part of a decade so changing your appearance as your character ages makes a lot of sense.

Legacy was great. A definite buy if you ask me.

Wasn't a fan of Mark of the Assassin at all. That Tallis character was really annoying. Probably one of the most annoying characters I've played with in a game in a long time. Struggled to even finish that DLC because of her.

ok,, soo what i'm getting is, Buy the prince for the extra party member, leli, just does a cameo? can she join the party durring that quest? so this one is the "shale" DLC?

so the darkspawn lore one, that adds more background,, playable durring the campaign as well? (or is this an after one?) (sorta like return to ostagar? Not saying the quest is like it, just a side thing, so more loot/xp during campaign?

mark of assassin, this one is a seperate adventure that has no effect on game? or do you get loot/money/xp? ? leli makes a cameo?

damn, seems like they sold me the game, and sucked me into dlc! curses!

Just a cameo, not a party member.

Both Legacy and Mark have loot, xp, and such you can use in the main game. Legacy has an epic armor set if you can find all the parts. Depending on when you do them dialog/banter and such changes between characters as well.

Legacy isn't like Return to Ostagar though, it is much bigger. takes about 3-4 hrs to tackle all of it, unlike the 1-1.5 hrs it takes to do RtO. Mark is even longer if you do everything in it. But yes, side stories for both, though both have implications that seem large.

Legacy and MotA have some good loot, but MotA is just a waste of time. But if you're a loot-ho, like me, the armor and weapons you can get in MotA are mighty enticing.

I'm with the others.

Legacy was good and definitely worth the money. Mark of the Assassin was a complete waste. I'd watch it on youtube to see if you think it's worth it to you. I felt it was BW putting in someone's fanfiction into the game.

I didn't think MotA was a waste. There was a fair amount of criticism for a specific anti-qunari Hawke handwave, but I take it like the people who kill Leliana... why would you even do that you horrible monster?

I played "basic" DA2 first, then with all DLCs. It's a different story. I gave it a 7 first, with DLCs I give it a 8.

Sebastian is a cool character, but you don't get so much in terms of contents, just a few quests and Leliana's Cameo.

Legacy and Mark of the Assassins are well made, and at least you have fresh maps as you leave Kirkwall.. they add a lot of freshness to the game.

Then you may get Item Packs, there are 2 of them and both consists in sets of armor and weapons for each class. But you can't really make a full use of them. As you can only wear Hawke and not the companions, then you only use 1 set above 3, the one regarding your class.

However I suggest you to get as more stuff as possible, cause it helps appreciating the game a bit more. Basic game is poor.

Both are fun but Mark of the Assassin is much smaller than Legacy. I'd buy Legacy first and then get MotA on sale.

Exiled Prince is between Legacy and MotA. Fun but not as fun as Legacy, not as short as MotA.

Black Emporium gives you many cheat potions and a dog companion. Not much in there but fun if you are in a spending mood. Same for the armor packs.
