So it turns out that Leviathan's control is able to reach as far as the Citadel . If that ain't true spoiler I'll eat a hat .

Nope . Saren and Benezia were only fully indoctrinated because they were inside Sovereign the whole time . The reason why Shepard and his squad doesn't get indoctrinated is because they don't spend enough time in a row beside Reaper tech . Which means the brain just registers the insufficient infrasound that Reaper tech produces as nothing .

Shepard was knocked out that whole time . Reaper indoctrination requires the individual to be fully aware and conscious in order to manifest the subtle changes in behaviour . For Shepard though , even if infrasound enters his brain , he is not aware that it is happening , so to speak . And also indoctrination requires weeks at least to fully manifest .

And Harbinger was able to control the Collectors due to their Reaper tech .

No, Shepard was awake, she was only knocked out after "the battle for object rho"

From what we know in ME lore, Reaper artifacts such as that ALWAYS indoctrinate people who come into contact with it.

Same here . On my third playthrough of ME1 with first FemShep . Currently completing the UNC missions before heading out to Noveria.

Ah I see what you mean . Thing is , indoctrination is subtle . It takes a very long time before indoctrination manifests completely . Shepard and his squad did not spend enough time around Reaper tech to become indoctrinated . For example , let's say you spend three days around a Reaper artifact . Sure you will feel the effects and you start to have subtle changes in your behaviour . But if you leave the artifact , the indoctrination wears off and is not permanent . At least that's what I've been able to gather from the games . Haven't read Mass Effect Evolution yet so maybe you're right .
