I just realized Shepard doesn't even ASK what the Catalyst is. It's the most crucial piece of intel in the war and he didn't bother asking the Leviathans about it.

Wow. Shoddy writing abounds.

Shepard didn't bother bringing up the geth and quarians with the catalyst either. I guess this isn't surprising. Shepard is full of derp.

You mean to leviathan? He wouldn't have known about it yet though.

He knew about the Catalyst, just not it's nature. He is aware that the Leviathans have been watching the cycles and the develop of the Crucible each time, however. It stands to reason they might have known something of it.

Funny, because they know everything about it. Ugh. Another plothole.

Loved Leviathan! Couple of comments in lab made me laugh so hard. Players complaining Basilisk is overpowerd xD Didn't have time to play ending, but for me it was as good as LotSb. Though I'm not that big Liara fan :)

He still knows he needs it(thoughnot sure what it is) at that point. Wouldn't he bother asking if these guys knew about it?

Leviathan flat out says they know of the Crucible. They knew of the lesser species creating it but it has failed times beyond counting. How woudld they know about the Catalyst when they didn't help create it, have little to no knowledge of it other than it's existance, and have been in self imposed exile on an unknown planet the last 50 billion years and killed anyone that came close to discovering them.

Hah, interesting that the Rachni Wars seem to be of Leviathan origin.

Oh my... if the "Oily shadows" line was never intended to be Reaper influence to begin with.
Ho ho, another I.T. pillar shot down.

Exactly for the reason you mentioned.

They've been alive the longest, and theyve been observing, even if at a distance. Theres nothing but gain to be had in asking them if they've ever heard of the catalyst that the other cycles have incorperated into the crucible designs.

Just finished. Cool meeting the Leviathan race that created the "intelligence" we call Catalyst. Also very cool to see the original Harby. Even better to see a big Reaper go down.

For Shepdog7 I'll say "Does this prove IT?"

Note: I still must play through Cronos and Earth. But I'm gonna sleep first.

because the catalyst said in the ending that the leviathans were his creators...

Writing in terms of taste is subjective, but there are objective qualities to writing. Plot holes are just bad writing, plain and simple.

Additionally, (and this part IS opinion, I guess) I don't like how the Leviathans are like "We're going to keep you down here to serve us, even though you'll only last until the air in your mech runs out and stuff. Oh, well, now we change our minds."

And then a Reaper just... dies. Spontaneously. And that's th end of it. It's so... disjointed.

Is not good writing, that's for sure. And comparing food to literature is rather silly.

Can anyone say anything about the final conversation with Leviathan?

Okay, so I just finished the DLC.

Shepard decends and finds a huge cavern with not one, but no less than Three Leviathans, with the possibility of there being more.

Leviathan starts explaining **** to Shepard. Basically, it says they once ruled the galaxy, enslaving and conquering every planet they went to due to their natural ability to indoctrinate. Or something. It is also implied they were trying to protect the lesser races. Or something. However, their thralls eventually built synthetics. Which I guess rose up against the thralls and there was war. This led to the Leviathans creating a machine of their own with one single mandate: Preserve all life. Dead thralls can not pay tribute, and this angered the Leviathans, so they wanted something that could keep all life alive, and thus they would have the most amount of thralls.

Well, Catalyst, in an attempt to acquire absolute knowledge of the thralls, required the construction of Reapers, this was apparently an attempt for it to understand organics, assess their nature so it could find a way preserve all life. I think. Anyway, it eventually had an army, and they harvested the Leviathans to Make Harbinger. Shepard tells Leviathan it's all their fault, and convinces them to fight. They mentally attack a Reaper that is baring down on your squad up on the boat, and just as you escape in the shuttle, the Reaper shoots at you, but the Leviathans assume direct control of it, it misses and falls into the ocean, with them claiming it is time for the Reapers to pay their tribute in blood. Or something.

So their war assets describes them giving indoctrination orbs to commanders who carry them behind enemy lines, allowing them indoctrinate Reaper forces.

You also get the Dominate Ability for Shepard.

Have not done the EC with Leviathan yet.

*cough* pass...

If they indoctrinated the universe and they don't like synthetics killing their thralls... here' an idea! Get ride of the synthetics and don;t let any of your INDOCTRINATED thralls make synthetics. Image IPB

You're forgetting one important detail. You can't make mass effect make sense. That would ruin the artistic integrity.

Did they even read their own script? I mean... what... the... f*ck? Unless the Leviathans are liars too. They don't sound like good people.

I played through it. For the most part, the Leviathan's account explains the Catalyst's eventual reasoning well. But the problem therein is that the Catalyst is what ****ed with Reaper lore to begin with. Much like the Extended Cut, the story of Leviathan is adding a layer of paint to a broken wall. It's prettier, but it's still broken.
