I just realized Shepard doesn't even ASK what the Catalyst is. It's the most crucial piece of intel in the war and he didn't bother asking the Leviathans about it.

Wow. Shoddy writing abounds.

You mean to leviathan? He wouldn't have known about it yet though.

He still knows he needs it(thoughnot sure what it is) at that point. Wouldn't he bother asking if these guys knew about it?

Leviathan flat out says they know of the Crucible. They knew of the lesser species creating it but it has failed times beyond counting. How woudld they know about the Catalyst when they didn't help create it, have little to no knowledge of it other than it's existance, and have been in self imposed exile on an unknown planet the last 50 billion years and killed anyone that came close to discovering them.

because the catalyst said in the ending that the leviathans were his creators...

The Leviathan's were the "intelligence's" creators. They had nothing to do with the Crucible. Granted I still assume that the citadel is the Catalyst and the Star Brat is the only thing stopping the Crucible from firing on it's own with out a directed target. Hence it consider's it's the catalyst.

Leviathan.....It's a BIG......STUPID.....JELLYFISH!! lol

loved this DLC tho. Up there with LotSB in my books

So my curiosity is killing me...

How can you enjoy something that has writing this bad? I'm not trying to insult your or anything like that, I just really dont understand. Is the story just not that important to you? What makes it good?

This DLC had other positive traits aside from its story. The gameplay and combat was much more varied than the normal game, plus it gave us new weapons and mods, and it has by far the best amount of VAing from any ME DLC. It feels less like obvious DLC and more like an additional part of the campaign.

The writing problems exist because vanilla ME3's writing problems already existed. The Leviathan's explanation better explains the Catalyst and its purpose-- but the Catalyst was the core of ME3's narrative problems to begin with. Considering the fact that these narrative concerns-- and a lack of real choice-- are Leviathan's only shortcomings, I'd say it's fair to enjoy the DLC.

My biggest problem with Leviathan right now is... I don't see what the point was.

I didn't gain anything. I mean, sure, Dominate and some more War Assets, but I already had more than enough for my Shep to live. I didn't learn anything about the Catalyst, and nothing new about the Reapers either. Even the Leviathans are just... bleh. Tracking them down is fun, but once you get them... it doesn't... feel like I accomplished anything.

Any word on if Leviathan does anything meaningful to the ending of the main game?

bad writing is all an opinion. i personally like ME3 and leviathan. do you like italian food or chinese? i dont. doesnt mean its bad.

Writing in terms of taste is subjective, but there are objective qualities to writing. Plot holes are just bad writing, plain and simple.

Additionally, (and this part IS opinion, I guess) I don't like how the Leviathans are like "We're going to keep you down here to serve us, even though you'll only last until the air in your mech runs out and stuff. Oh, well, now we change our minds."

And then a Reaper just... dies. Spontaneously. And that's th end of it. It's so... disjointed.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I can explain to you why I prefer Japanese food over Mexican food. Thats what I'm looking for. Just saying you like it doesnt tell me anything. I'm trying to figure out why you think its good.

People please! Before you tear this dlc apart, take time to absorb it. Play through it a few times. Try different dialog choices. Don't rush through it. Explore. There are more war assets to be found.

I think IT'ers will be excited. Maybe for a short while.

... and then the speculations can go wild!

Oh yeah and the Crescent Nebula available to "explore" again. There's just a war asset on Illuim. Hopefully we'll be able to go there in a future dlc. but I doubt it.

It's like Garrus said before finding Leviathan.

"So you find this thing, then what?"

I don't feel like the "then what" was ever explained.

Oh God no. The last thing this forum needs is more rabid 'theorists'. It took us long enough coming this close to rounding up and restraining the last batch of the crazies XD

And I'm half-joking.

How so? from where I'm sitting the dismissing of the "oily shadows" line as relating to Leviathan tampering rather than Reaper tampering suggests that the whole foundation for I.T. (The dreams being Reaper indoctrination) is completely, finally, dead.

Which would be _lovely_

Does anyone actually care about War Assets, though? They add literally nothing of consequence to the game past 3100, which most folks probably have at this point.

The plot's the problem, not the gameplay. ME3's gameplay by and large was good already (though lacking in the sidequest area and quest completion tracking). But I don't play ME primarily for gameplay--I played it primarily for story, which I experience through the gameplay.

The gameplay without a good story just doesn't interest me. There are a ton of games that I can pick up for story-lite gameplay romps.
