i like this dlc, it opens up more possible scenarios and shows that the Reapers miss things when Cleansing the Known Galaxy of their existence. This DLC is the perfect excuse Bioware can use to add Protheans to MP but more importantly it foreshadows in ME4 races from previous cycles that survived in similar ways like Leviathans will probably emerge from the ashes of the war that Shepard helped win for the Galaxy

I know this was posted a few days ago, but I had to respond to it.

The Leviathans don't seem very friendly to me. Or committed to the self determination of other races. I mean... they use other races as tools.

They're helpful for fighting the Reapers, but long term I don't think there's anything hopeful about the survival of this particular race. If anyting, I think there's a good chance they'll be a threat in the post-Reaper galaxy.

Perhaps I'm just paranoid, though. I've had the same thoughts about the protheans. I honestly toyed with the idea of making Javik the "bad guy" in my post ME3 head canon if there are other surviving protheans out there, as he tries to "rebuild the Empire..."

I agree DWH1982, they certainly could pose a threat with the reapers gone... but there are what? Three of them? And on one planet, I say call in galactus, haha, this would not be the biggest threat we have blown to pieces thus far. Then again they do specify that the leviathan empire/thralldom and creation of the catalyst were results of a galaxy that already bent to their every will, their behavior was subject to a false sense of invincibility that has been disproved to the remaining cthulus and they have watched how many cycles fail while they hid at the bottom of the ocean... the harvest turned everything they were and knew upside down, then shepard did again and I would like to think some respect would be garnered in destroying the abominations made in your image.

Stopping the reapers with the help of the Leviathan and then blowing their fishy butts into hell? Seems legit!

No, to be honest, i think the decisison is pretty easy: Reapers... yeah, hell of them harvesting the whole galaxy on one side and Leviathan with some friends, weaker than the really big Reapers but nonetheless a help, with some mindcontrol tricks on the other side. I dont think there should be a moment of hesitation for shep.
Also, Leviathan needs that balls to controll people. Destroy them and be fine.

The Leviathan is a nice return to The Reaper's roots. Not just their origin story, but their creative roots as Lovecraftian horrors. Dwellers in the dark reaches, elder-ones that watch from the void. The DLC went a good way at recapturing some of the mystique The Reapers once held and transfixing it on their enigmatic creators.

Even if it was short lived, I enjoyed the mysterious approach to The Leviathans.

Now that I've finished playing it I'm now trying to see if this dlc will impact the retaking of Earth it should but so far it hasn't. For the blood thirsty being these things claim to be they haven't mulled over a single reaper in my path and that alone sucks will they just let space boy off the hook too? I do have some problems with the dlc (shocker I know) but I'm going to give BW the good news first:

What I liked:

Underwater w/o spoiling it that was new borderline on the believability aspect but it was cool and so I can let it slide.

the thing we chase isn't a reaper which is good because I was prepared to quit the game if it was. The geth already got retconned from badguys into misunderstood badguys I can't stand this new plot point and having a reaper go wait I'm really a misunderstood reaper that hates myself and my fellow reapers I want them to die would suck like no other.

male shep's voice still strong w/ inflection and feeling glade to see he's still allowed to be human not a brick voice wise.

You guys did have some horror elements in there not as much as OL but I still appreciated having it as horror is more my thing then shooters. So it was appropriately creepy where it could be.

New dialogue for my squadmates between mission points so I take team dextro with me on every leg of the trip I can get back from each mission and they will talk about how it scared them. I walked in on Tali talking to Garrus about the scariest creatures they've faced it was funny.

EDI leaving the ship was different though strange and I'll discuss this later. Same with Vega I enjoyed having crewmen join me I just wanted my favorites to show up I'll try to expand on this later.

New places to go and things to do and the experiments the Cerberus head was...interesting and creepy he fallows you around I thought he was going to turn out to be the worlds most creepiest security camera but no.

We had indoctrination right before our eyes! I loved the fact you guys finally decided to put this in there though when they went zombie it ruined some of the creepiness. I liked the first case better it was one second fine the next not and w/o the zombie speech. I got it from the moment he shot the guy this guy was indoctrinated I didn't need anyone to say otherwise.

With indoctrination as Virgil described it you think with the reaper war going on we'd encounter alot more of them but so far not really and that's disappointing. I'm glade we got some here though but again we've got things to consider like if the mirror device possesses by proxy why doesn't shep, his team, or anyone just get possessed sure the girl did explain it took time yet later she uses the thing and it works like it should and she said she spent the least amount of time working with the mirror. (note I'm using mirror as so not to reveal the thing too much)

Shep not being super human he came up from the ocean and was very weak and he also couldn't fight off the influences of the creatures I did like this. He's still human even if he's a cyborg one.

Your LI if you bring them will be worried but I wanted to use the wheel and say more to her. I mean he hasn't even told Tali he loves her yet it's always I... why is there no option for an I love you option that actually has him say I love you, I'll come back, you've got to stay alive up here?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I don't like:

Shep (yes he/she needs his own category here)

Shep was acting like a moron again. Really BW this is insulting to the trilogy wide players. We as the players seem to know more about indoctrination then shep does and he's gone through everything we have! Seriously the moment the guy got shot by his friend I knew it was indoctrination shep however doesn't seem to get this he states at length so and so shot that guy despite the man's denial he won't go....hang on if I say you did it and he says he didn't he can't put two and two together and come up with indoctrination infact someone else had to do it for him...again...Shep talk to the girl on Virmire who studied it, he's seen it first hand with Feros, Virmire, and Arrival really how many more red flags does this guy need? Shep should know this by now!

BW Shep is a professional in anything prothean, indoctrination, murdering of reapers, and reaper prothean melding devices treat him and your players like it. Stop making him dumb for plot contrivance sake!

The device I saw the mirror and went hey that looks like I should meld with it...shep however didn't pick up on it, in fact he over looks it. Why is he still a moron when it comes to prothean devices and to add further insult to the fact you guys want to forget he's a mental prothean he asks EDI if the object he is starring at (some pillar) is a prothean pillar? WTF!!!!! He got the cipher, he can speak, read, write, hell even dream in prothean by now! Why the hell does he need to ask EDI if its prothean!!!!! He should NEVER EVER have to ask anyone is this prothean he should tell them it is and then enlighten them on the artifact!!!!!

The mirror also should've tripped off his artifact since because he was exposed to the reaper beacon he should now be able to sense anything that is reaper and because that device was made by the creatures who are connected to the reapers he should now feel it and know it is something of theirs even if he can't understand how to use just look at the damn thing and have conversation like this:

Shep: This is reaper made

NPC: How do you know that?

Shep: I can feel it. Now we just need to activate it.

It's ok if he doesn't know how to activate the mirror but he could've said he'd try to meld with it or give the player the option to try if that doesn't work after a moment then fine but let us do it. We later see shep could've melded with the darn thing albeit it could've been a disaster but he could've done it. Since we saw it was possible if the player could've melded with the mirror at any point in which the scripted called for the party to be at the lab and then he would've blanked out and came to in c-sec or a physic ward EDI or whomever was there informs shep he tried to kill himself of them and after shep is shocked and has his questions answered we can try to hunt down the leviathan the old fashion way.

Lack of Shep development let's see how do I not spoil this....ok after he comes into contact with the creatures and the "other world" issues why is shep not able to be upset with LI or talk (using the wheel) with anyone on the ship at all? I mean he's ok with the possibility he can become a tool at anypoint w/o warning? Really? Because that would freak me the hell out sure it was the only way out the only way to still keep going but really no venting? No worries? No ability to warn anyone if I pass out you've got to be on your gaurd really? This could become the greatest liability ever he isn't in control of himself or what happens because of his blackouts and yet him and all his friends are ok wit this? Shepard as a character should now have a phobia against mind ****ing he got hacked by David now he's blacking out...really how can he be find with all the mind voodoo? Give the man some freaking concern over this it is his brain after all!

Shep ONCE AGAIN not revealing realivent info he knows on our badguys! Now that he's met the creaters who are the leviathan and he now knows their very personal connection to the reapers he should've shared this with Hackett and Anderson at the meeting hell he should've told them I met these bloodthirsty creatures and not only did they tell me this, this, and this on our enemy I will more then likely passout at anytime in the future and they will do x just so you both know. That would be something to share and when you're planning to charge the beam shep should go we really don't need to worry about the reaper gaurding the beacon my new friends in my mind will make me pass out and they'll do x to them! Just get me there! That's a freaking big game changer right there that EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other things I didn't like

The showing up of EDI even though she could radio us I said before I didn't mind her being there hell having a partner on a mission was welcomed I just wish I could pick who is my backup when I go to the lab. Also for a partner she didn't look around she just fallowed me and creeped me out I wish she would've gone to a computer and started downloading it or something.

The first time she showed up was fine a plausible yet I've got issues with this:

1. why her? Why did my ship in human form show up to answer my 911 why not Liara or my girlfriend? Either one of these have strong connections to shep. If I didn't have a gf why not my bro Garrus? Would these people not be just as worried? EDI could've also brought in backup like my top used two squad mates or even the person I pick most as squadmate 1. The problem I have is shep makes a 911 call and she solo goes into the unknown with no backup. She should've brought backup.

Vega showing up out of the blue now this alarmed me as he:

1. Has no reason to show up to an investigation unannounced

2. Why him? He has no skills other then his muscles that can aid me in this task I'm hunting down things so Liara, Tali, Garrus, or even Miranda, Jacob, or Kasumi could've showed all these people can track other people or things down or hack into things not to mention the later

3 could be paying me back for helping them out along the way. Vega was way out of place so much so I thought I was going to be asked whom I should let meld with the device I though **** now BW going to ask me to pick who gets to meld with the device will it be me, vega, or the girl. Then he did his part which showed why he needed to be there but coming unannounced wasn't good story wise he should've brought Garrus at least then he could claim he was helping him and by proxy me in the case.

The squadmates rambled off their lines too fast there should've been adiqute pauses between statements instead they were rushing like they really had to go to the bathroom.

Overall w/o knowing what the leviathan was this dlc was ok I still have:

1 SB
2. OL + Arrival
3. and now this one

I loved it. The variety was great, the length was right, and the ending was spectacular.

That being said, it all felt a bit odd story wise to have this be so referential to our post ending knowledge and so it felt odd to have that be taking place before the end.

Does it change the end in any little way? Like wouldn't Shep be different towards the catalyst now? I havent replayed the end since finishing so I don't know.

For the indoctrination part:
Dont forget, that the player actually got way more hints for indoctrination than "Shepard" does.
We have some creepy music, black graphics appaering on the screens, weird camera angles etc.
Yeah, he really wasnt quick at mind, but should take into account that the player knows more most of the time.
Also, i dont remeber that much indoctrinated people over the series. Most of them only praise the reapers like some gods.

For the part with edi:
Already mentioned that in another thread...
Edi and Vega are with Liara the only squadmates, that are alive for sure at every point in the game after Palavan.
Garrus can die in ME 2 as Tali can, Ashley/Kaidan can be shoot at Priority:Citadel 2 and Jarvik is a DLC char.
So its obvious that they choose them both for this DLC, they have not as much lines as the others chars (Liara has probalby the most with Garrus) so im fine with it.
In From Ashes, Liara is the one interacting with you, again a char that is alive for sure.
Yes, most of us have the majority of the mates form Me 2 loyal and alive but you have to make sure, that you can play the DLC with any kind of messed up savegame. And to fully cover all possible choices with voice acting is way too much for a "simple" dlc (all the languages). I guess that further DLCs with squadmates interaction will also be starring james, Edi or Liara und to be honest i would like that, both chars a interesting and they got really not much space with all the Garrus, Talis and Liaras around. Even Jarvik has really amazing banters and dialouges. I wanna play with Edi and James but i always have the feeling to miss interesting lines from Garrus or Liara, cause most of the missions are related to some older ones from ME 1 (Garrus has some amazing things to say at SurKesh).

Soundtrack is very good, i think is better than Arrival Soundtrack.

Anyway...

Some new features is buged, what features ?

I mean here weapon mods, that included in Earth DLC to MP.

Why i start again play the same save, but have 58 LVL. This mods is restart to LVL 1 ?

And this glitch on Namakli, is irritating...

Anyway... Good DLC, and i wait for next SP DLC.

Boring. And didn't add enough. Sure, it's nice to know the Reaper's origins. In that sense, it does add something important. But to ME3 as a whole, it doesn't add much. And it sounds like another desperate attempt to justify "star-brat" and the dreadful endings.

Overall, the first 2 missions are boring and repetitive. Small maps with repetitive shooting and scenarios. Just the last part is truly unique, with the "ship-like" environment and then the under-water part. But if you're not going to develop it more, and add different elements, you should trim out the "fat" in these repetitive environments and dull searches.

I've finally played Leviathan.

I thought it was a nice DLC with a good story but it wasn't memorable.

It didn't made justice to the 10 dollars (or 20 reais) I've spent on it.

Just played through it: Definitely worth the price, good job guys!

What I liked:
- The whole squad had stuff to say/do, and the little extra LI stuff was nice.
- The lab was neat, cool/funny little tidbits to find
- The water planet level was awesome, especially underwater
- Fleshed out the lore
- The creepiness factor of the mind-controlled people
- The music, as usual, was great

What I didn't like:
- No real, tangible impact on the story. Unfortunately, like most decisions in game, it just gives you a text blurb and some war assets. I would think the Leviathan people would have more impact, especially on the ending.
- Shepard is kind of an idiot, especially in the beginning of the game, there wasn't really "investigating" EDI held your hand through the whole thing.

Looking forward to what's next!

My suggestions for the future DLC:
- Flesh out current characters more, go deeper, no reason to bring in new people.
- Impact the story more, simply inserting an ineffectual middle chapter is kind of pointless.
- Have it last longer, I'll pay more for it.

I finally got to play Leviathan yesterday. The story is very fascinating and it was awesome to learn more about the origin of the Reapers. Exploring the lab was fun and the underwater part was really beautiful. This DLC made me understand the Reapers more and yes, even though it created plotholes and made the ending somewhat even more complicated, I was still happy to learn it all.

It took me about 3 hours to complete which is a good lenght but I was hoping to have more to play. There's only a little to play compared to the talking and watching part. The missions were over way too quickly. The gameplay parts should have been a lot longer, otherwise this one is satisfied with the DLC.

Just finished playing Leviathan for a second time. Played it as soon as I could after Priority: Rannoch. Took Liara, my LI, and James the first two missions, and Liara and Javik the last time. Paid more attention to everything this time around, and decided I still dislike the "escort the drone" sequences as much as I did the first time, even though they're not really that bad. Have to say it's right up there with LotSB as my favourite DLC.

There's a couple of lines about Shepard having met the Leviathans (it replaces the 'You wouldn't know them, and I don't have time to explain' line when Shepard asks about the creators) and the Catalyst apparently 'welcomes' the entry of his creators into the war. That's it.

At least now we have another reason (among many others) not to trust the Catalyst when it comes to Synthesis. Not that I needed one.
