I'm the same, well actually I play femshep most often. But once I get bored of ME i change it up by doing a broshep playthrough. So far I've only done two, but have beaten both ME1 and 2 with them.

I don't customize broshep in anyway shape or form. Sheploo is sexy!

From what I understand, Catalyst either created the Reaper construct or got Leviathan to build it for him.

Then he told them to start Reaping.

Catalyst created the first Reaper(Harbinger) by harvesting the Leviathans. That is made pretty clear. No word however if the leviathans were processed to create more reapers (maybe their numbers weren't that big to begin with).

Leviathan created the Catalyst that created the Reapers.

there's something I dont understand. Leviathans can disable a reaper with a pulse beam. If they didn't want Shepard to find them, why didn't they shot Shep's Atlas when he was descending?

Having just finished Leviathan, I'll say that this DLC belonged with a much better game. It was, speaking only of itself, excellent, even if a lot of said excellence was condensed into the ending. Certainly a far better way to hear about the origins of the Reapers than the Catalyst was, and if the Leviathans had been in from the beginning instead of the Catalyst, at least in that form... well, I could see better possibilities.

Yeah, pretty much this.

I think my personal preference would still be for the origins of the Reapers not to be revealed at all. The best explanation for the Reapers should be "Reapers gonna reap" - they do what they do because it's what they do and simply how they ensure their continued existence.

Still, if we must have an origin story for the Reapers, it would have been better to do what you suggested - go with the Leviathans from the start, and just dump Star Brat entirely.

Yep, it should have been "Reapers gonna reap" this gives credence to "an existence beyond our own we cannot even imagine it."

With a canon ending to defeat them, but varying drastically in your previous choices playing out. This should have been THE ending.

That husk head was my 2nd favorite part of the DLC, my favorite was the story. I feel that this origin of the reapers was adequate and it doesn't ruin my opinion of them.

That husk head is stupid, why would Shepard ever take something like that back when he/she is having PTSD dreams about that stupid kid! I'm never taking that thing back to my cabin!

Well, now that we know what was before the reapers, i now have a new question :

What was there before the leviathans???

looking at this in a darwinistic fashion, the leviathans habitat is essentially the whole galaxy.  their adaptation is control of lesser organisms.  the only way they can do anything is to get a thrall specie to do it.  

Doesnt it make sense that they made the Crucible plans originated with the leviathans?  its their way to offer their flawed creation an alternative to its harvests.  

also, note its reaction to being asked about it.  the only qustionable thing it says against this theory is saying that its 'outcome is unknown''.  this could simply refer to the alterations over the cycles or even the actual decision that needs to be made.

1. The catalyst was created by the leviathans to solve the problem with synthetics and they made him an army of synthetic servants.
2. The catalyst used his servants to round up the leviathans and make the first reaper.
