So why couldn't they just have crucible do the same thing, If they would of just had the crucible just turn the reapers off the ending wouldn't of been so bad.

Because the issue is with the catalyst.

If the crucible could turn off the reapers how would the catalyst be an issue? Wasn't he created by the same people who created the reapers? so wouldn't the crucible affect him as well?

Three immediate thoughts: 1) It's about indoctrination. The sounds from the final scene with Anderson and TIM feauture prominently.

2 Those flowers that you see everywhere in the citadel- red poppies; trace of the Farscape scarran flowers, you know? Seem to be dangerous. I always thought it was weird how heavily these flowers featured. Asteroid mission (finding Garneaud), click on the datapad next to the flowers.

If it were so simple then the leviathean would of turned him off directly.

I'm not convinced, I've been saying for a long time that "Indoctrination" is only one of the tools that the Reapers have. I'd say that what _we_ call indoctrination is just a poor synthetic copy of the Leviathan's natural ability, which seems to be enhanceable with tech. Hence there is an underlying science to "mind control" with many routes to achieving it.
  • "classic" indoctrination: input vector is EM and sonics, effects are subtle but crude, ultimately damaging to the victim.
  • Implant-based control: A more resilient solution to shortfalls of indoctrination, allows the wielder to take over the thrall as deeply as they need to
  • Direct control: Requires implants in the victim. Completely disables the victim's existing nervous system, victims are no more than puppets.
It looks like Leviathan's have the top-tier version of that naturally. Which explains where the Reaper-tech came from.

Can anyone say anything about the final conversation with Leviathan?

Does anyone know if the Leviathan DLC has anything to do with the Leviathan of Dis or the conversation with Balak in the Citadel docks? So far I've read little about it's link to the batarians!

The Reaper from ME2 was killed by a mass accelerator. No way it could have been killed by leviathans.

I'm not downloading this DLC if its going to introduce new plot holes...

So it's physically impossible for someone to have more than one means of killing a reaper?

Their Reaper shutdown switch can't have a limited range and the Leviathans are restricted from making any other kind of weapons?

Okay, so I just finished the DLC.

Shepard decends and finds a huge cavern with not one, but no less than Three Leviathans, with the possibility of there being more.

Leviathan starts explaining **** to Shepard. Basically, it says they once ruled the galaxy, enslaving and conquering every planet they went to due to their natural ability to indoctrinate. Or something. It is also implied they were trying to protect the lesser races. Or something. However, their thralls eventually built synthetics. Which I guess rose up against the thralls and there was war. This led to the Leviathans creating a machine of their own with one single mandate: Preserve all life. Dead thralls can not pay tribute, and this angered the Leviathans, so they wanted something that could keep all life alive, and thus they would have the most amount of thralls.

Well, Catalyst, in an attempt to acquire absolute knowledge of the thralls, required the construction of Reapers, this was apparently an attempt for it to understand organics, assess their nature so it could find a way preserve all life. I think. Anyway, it eventually had an army, and they harvested the Leviathans to Make Harbinger. Shepard tells Leviathan it's all their fault, and convinces them to fight. They mentally attack a Reaper that is baring down on your squad up on the boat, and just as you escape in the shuttle, the Reaper shoots at you, but the Leviathans assume direct control of it, it misses and falls into the ocean, with them claiming it is time for the Reapers to pay their tribute in blood. Or something.

So their war assets describes them giving indoctrination orbs to commanders who carry them behind enemy lines, allowing them indoctrinate Reaper forces.

You also get the Dominate Ability for Shepard.

Have not done the EC with Leviathan yet.

If you want spoilers, here they are.

The Leviathan of Dis really was just a Reaper corpse. What killed that Reaper? The Leviathan.

See that sounds kind of cool and could offer a great ending via shutting the reapers down. If we could do that, I'd totally get this.

So haha... the "there is no time to explain" bs from the catalyst is actually "you have to pay dlc" hahahaha.

Without the Reapers keeping them in check, it is implied the Leviathans would attempt to enslave all lesser life once again, though. This is troubling.

Going off to play Cerberus Base and Earth.
