What do you expect from DA3 Main Theme/Soundtrack?

Well, I expect INON ZUR and Aubrey Ashburn, of course. I'd like a Theme more similar to the Origins one, but more epic and faster. Origins Theme starts slowly, then increases to epicness.
I'd like to hear the opposite, a theme starting immediatly fast and explosive with violins and chorus of female voices, then decreasing a bit.
An example is the Age of Mythology theme. I'd like something similar, non the same of course, in the DA style.
Share your expectations, post examples. Thanks.

I want something that evokes war. The Qunari music in DA2 has the sort of tone I'm referring to.
Arishock theme was pretty cool. Strong. I think it's because of horns in the orchestra. I wouldn't mind something similar, but a little faster.

I love romanticism, but it's the anti-romantic. Creating a scene, rather than a feeling, etc.

I can only wish for Hans Zimmer, but since that doesn't seem likely I would be quite curious to see what Jeremy Soule, Alan Sylvestri or Jesper Kyd would come up with for the game.

I doubt BioWare will get Hans Zimmer. I also think he could possibly be too powerful for Dragon Age, it that makes any sense. Though the man is a musical genius, so he could probably make it work. I also find Jeremy Soule as bland as Inon Zur.DahliaLynn wrote...
While Inon Zur did an appropriate job for DA:O's main theme, 80 percent of his work on the rest of the game(s) was blandish and non moving. The other 20% was incredible, but that ratio isn't enough for me to desire his work for future installments.

I'd love to see Jesper Kyd. His work in the Assassin's Creed series has mostly been excellent.
Unfortunately, what I imagine we will probably get is this:

Generic/ambient music for most of the game, with 1-3 standout tracks (main theme from DAO, Leliana's Song, etc.).
I'd love to see some great music in Dragon Age, but this is one area where I really feel the series hasn't delivered.

Also, I have always disliked Inon's heavy emphazis on heavy brass instruments in battle-music, so i would also like for him to lighten up on that. Flutes, drumms, violins, even harps... they all work superbly well in battle-scenes. No need to always beat us over the head with "DANGER!-feeling" by using heavy brass. In this regard I thought Origins had a better battle-soundtrack than DA2 since it at least tried mixing a few new instruments and styles into the battes.
Overall though, I am very happy with his work on the Dragon Age series and I just hope that he continues to bring us his best.

But I think there isn't really anyone out there right now who does epic like Muse.

He's the guy who composed music for Baldur's Gate 2 ToB, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Prince of Persia, Crysis... he's just great.

None of those games you mentioned have very memorable scores. The fallout series shines on licensed music an DAO had one good theme, the main theme. Parts of which were broken up and looped in other scenes.
Trying to be subjective about a completely objective subject doesn't work. I could argue that FFVI had bland and boring music but most ppl would probably disagree with me. I once played a Fela Kuti song for my father and he hated it and yet I know many people who love his music.

ToB: Yes, he did do this, and there are a few decent songs (Grove of the Ancients, Watcher's Keep and Amkethran probably being the highlights), but thematically and musically he had to retain the tone of BG2:SoA, which reined in a lot of his heavy brass tendencies. Even so, he still went overboard with them in a few songs, and they just drown everything else out.riccaborto wrote...
It seems many of you underestimate Inon Zur... IMO he's the best... DA Origins soundtrack was just perfect for a dark-epic-fantasy game, I still listen to it when I can, especially Main Theme and Leliana's Song cause they give me such emotions.

Fallout 3 & NV: 3 is almost wholly unremarkable as anything except ambient. Musicality is minimal and there is very little complexity in theme development. Can't comment on NV.
Prince of Persia:The only one he touched was the cell-shaded (2008) game. Forgotten sands was Steve Jablonsky, and Sands of Time was Stuart Chatwood, who incidentally also wrote for the 2008 game, so you can't really give Inon much credit here.
Crysis: Only the original Crysis, which again, I would say is mostly unremarkable and vastly outclassed by Crysis 2, which he had nothing to do with. Crysis has a very consistent theme, but that's not Zur's problem.
The main issue I have with Zur's music (and I find this goes for Jeremy Soule as well) is that he can't get enough variance within the overall musical theme and ideal that he has created for a game. Realising this, more layers are placed on tracks to introduce musical complexity whilst still not moving out of the rut the song is stuck in. Using callbacks to running musical ideas happens too often, and you never feel like you're getting anything different. This isn't always a bad thing - see Hans Zimmer's work in the Dark Knight trilogy - but there has to be enough variation to make it feel unique as well as cohesive.

I would also like for Jesper Kyd to be approached. He has experience with making music for video games, and he knows what he is doing: Example of his music: www.youtube.com/watch
But that is just what I would like. What I expect is something boring from Inon Zur.

Let's not blow too much money on the music. Elfman is way more expensive.
Tell me what you think of these three. You can find their music on youtube

Chance Thomas (Quest for Glory V)
