Asked Zevran to join the party (need the Assassin skill) and took a minor approval hit by Alistair (-3) as expected. Anyway to lower that or remove the approval hit or something you cant avoid? Much thanks.

Offer to let him go on the condition that he'll go kill Loghain.  You'll get a chance to let him into the party again, and I believe there is no approval hit.

Or you can just tell Alistair he's handsome back at camp, and get that approval up again.

He wouldn't accept the contract on Loghain for me.... Did anyone else get this?

Or, you can just tell Alistair that you're taking him because you said so, and to go play with his dolls.

Barring that, the persuade check that you can use him usually cuts it to -1. But Alistair will still be jealous.

You can choose to kill Zervan when you finish talking with him then say you change your mind.

No approval lost this way.

Yeah, you can't get him to accept the contract, but it leads to a second chance to let him join your party.  I think that option is only there to give you a chance to think out all options before letting him join, killing him, or letting him run away.

Take the hit. It's not huge and does he REALLY have to agree with everything you do? Besides, wave an action figure in front of him and he's back to being a happy camper.

I take the approval hits as they come. They're supposed to be like people, aren't they? When's the last time your friends agreed with everything you did? Heck, I can't even get my husband to agree with everything I do.

Not sure why it would be different. My Coercion is usually tier 3 by then anyway, since I like to use it. I have noticed, however, that sometimes the hits are more or less depending on the NPC's current approval rating, or it seems to be. I got a -10 from Sten on Owen once or twice before I figured out his side quest dialogs, and then got a -5 when doing it right after getting his sword back. That side quest bumps your approval big time with Sten. Did you have a lower rating with Alistair at the time?
