Vote ME3 as the 'Ultimate GotY' in the Golden Joystick awards? I think not.

I saw on facebook that the Bioware page on facebook asked fans to vote ME3 as the 'Ultimate Game of the Year' in the Golden Joystick Awards. Really? Now I'm VERY happy to vote for the end of the Tuchunka mission in the 'best moment' category, but hell hasn't frozen over so I'm not voting for a deeply flawed game as the 'Ultimate GotY'. As Daryl Kerrigan would say, "tell him he's dreamin!"

EDIT: here's a link to the awards for voting.

I don't think that Bioware has a snowball's chance in hell against Skyrim anyway. Bethesda is whoring around for votes too, lol. But I'm kinda torn. Skyrim is the shizz, but I guess that Todd Howard's head is bloated enough by now.

Honestly, I think that Telltale should get involved, The Walking Dead is frigging insane.

I'll probably just give my vote to Bioware, by way of a congeniality vote. They went through a lot of crap. It's time for us to be the better men.

Pfft! ME3 doesn't even deserve the nom, let alone to win. Skyrim got my votes for most of ME3's categories.

November 2011, so it couldn't compete in that year's list. It's running for 2012 lists.

Well, it doesn't go by the standard year, but games released since the last awards were held, which was this time last year. I pesonally believe that all GotY awards should wait until around June/July and be based on the prior, standard year. Too often I'll see games that only just came out getting more awards and votes largely because they're fresh to everybody and the rose-tinted glasses aren't off yet. The Golden Joysticks are kind of odd given their timing.

I noticed they've also done the odd, but rather common as of late thing of adding The Witcher 2 in there simply because it had a 360 release more recently, because otherwise it would be out of the eligible window. This seems rather common when a PC game gets a later console release I've always noticed, but I never see the same thing when a console release gets a later PC one (e.g. L.A. Noire, Rayman Origins, etc. all came out on PC in this window). It's as if a game doesn't get truly released these days unless its on console or something.

I think the biggest travesty in these awards isn't anything to do with ME3, but the fact that Dishonored is completely missing from the "One to Watch" category. Especially when there's generic tripe like Black Ops 2 on there.

ME 3 is my GOTY, there are no games this year that I look forward to, and I enjoyed the game very much + there's multiplayer that I like.
It has my vote.

As much as I loved bioware, and liked Mass Effect 3 I have to agree with the OP.

Mass Effect 3 does NOT deserve Game of the Year. Sorry guys but it patently doesn't.

Not even just because of the batcrap insane pre-EC endings either; but because of the games flaws other than that.

It is by far the buggiest game that Bioware have released in recent years.
Bioware, as much as some people deny it, partitioned out and disc locked Story Critical Content for Day One DLC.
The game itself does not have an introduction, or rather the introduction section its the most useless pointless section of the game, and of any bioware game ever IMO. It is basically one long uinformative cutscene.
Then there is the journal, or lack thereof. The journal in ME1, ME2, DAO, and DA2 all had use. It's late at night you are tired so you go to bed, next day you get home from work or whatever n play ME3 again and think to urself "what was I doing last nite again?" well you are buggerred for figuring that out because ME3's crap journal won't tell you!

And yes while the game itself has some of the best story moments of any Bioware game, it also has the sloppiest of any Bioware game. I point to a good portion of Priority Earth which was just outright boring, repetitive, and sloppy.
The entire "STEEEVE!!!" section is terrible voice acting and direction exemplified. The whole scene is laughable from Steeve himself, to the fact that he dies if you didn't talk to him enough (seriously wtf?), to Shepard's reactions (both male and female), to the reactions of the human crew members. Dear god the whole thing is just awful.

And don't get me started on Steve himself.
First playthru I liked the character; I wasn't romancing him. I roleplayed my MaleShep as someone who had a torch for Kaidan for ME1 and no one else had a look in. And as just friends Steve seemed nice, there wasn't quite enough there though to really get to like him; there was a definate feeling like there was stuff left out for the romance path.
So second playthru I imported my "VeryFriendly"ManShep who romanced everyone he could as much as he could lol. I decided to go after Steve in this one cos hey why not; and discovered much to my horror that it was supremely obvious that a heterosexual male who has no gay friends wrote this "romance". I say that because Steve IMO is nothing more than an odious, and foul stereotype; putting aside the terribly voice acted "dead husband" the whole romance arc with Steve was to me was like it was created by someone who was thinking the whole time "how would a Gay do this?" and not "how would these characters do this?"
And while being with a character like that, a stereotypical gay, suited my "veryFriendly" ManShep, it did not suit me.

I could keep ranting about Steve and his appalling romance but I am going to stop before I get into wall of text land.

The game while enjoyable is just too flawed to deserve GotY.

In my rather useless opinion, ME3 is worthy of nomination (despite various... issues) because its storytelling actually helped me score an A in an English assignment, but Goty? I don't know, Skyrim is VERY popular.

Now onto a valid answer. I really don't have enough comprehensive knowledge to make a proper judgement on its chances. I doubt anyone does. Not everyone who played ME3 is as sensitive to its flaws as some people are and simply enjoyed the game for what it was, a game.

It can't be GotY objectively but I'm sure there's enough fans who will ignore its issues and vote for it.

There, I voted for Skyrim for all its categories because I preferred it. Almost voted for Final Fantasy XIII-2 though, since I enjoyed that game too.
