I voted ME3 for GOTY. I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't see whinging about it.

Me too.

Skyrim is only a great game with mods lets not kid ourselves people.

What about Diablo 3 or Arkham City then?

Arkham City boils down to X, X, Y, Y, Y, Y, X, Y. I would say it has a semi-decent story but in hindsight I don't actually think it did. There was a lot of villians, but the plot seemed sort of incoherent in an attempt to incorperate them all. Unless the bad guy was crowned king of the world I don't see how he was able to kidnap Bruce Wayne at the start, and Bruce was shown to be an idiot when he revealed he would've saved a mass murderer who poisoned himself due to stupidity. The entire game was just idiot balls with 2 button combat and some mild puzzles that would be considered basic 12 years ago.

Haven't played Diablo 3. Tbh I know nothing about its story. I can't see what it could've done that was more impressive than Mass Effect 3.

No, just no. If you play with only  X and Y then you're going to get your ass kicked. Maybe, on easy you'll get away. But then things like riot shield and people with weapons like knife or that electric thing I keep forgetting will require you to change your way of fighting. Plus it's more about getting the combo as high as possible, you might win with just buttong mashing, again on an easier setting, but it'll take much longer than actually mastering the combo system. Plus you can't insult Arkham City's plot and say nothing about ME3 since ME3 really messed up a plot. And it's not some mild puzzles when it's 440 of them. ME3 didn't even have one puzzle.

Don't really consider "sometimes you have to press A twice" and collectables to suddenly elevate it to GOTY material.

Up against Skyrim and Batman? Ha ha ha ha ha ha NO.
Don't get me wrong, Mass Effect is my favorite series of all time, but you can't give GOTY to a half-assed rush job, no matter how good the IP is.

I'm voting for Skyrim....as much as I like the Mass Effect Series....it's suspect ending, questionable multiplayer policy, shoddy server(Still cannot buy the new dlc) just can't make me vote for them....

Skyrim may of been buggy but it had so much freedom and things to do to make you forget about it...

And it has Mods.....I'll vote for a game that allows modding over anything....

Game of the Year.

Well I haven't played all the games in that category.
Sorry, but my vote won't mean much since the only 2012 RPG I played was Mass Effect 3.

I do love the hell out of that game though.

I want to try out Witcher 2 and Skyrim.

Dark Souls. Hell to the no! I loathe games that are too hard. If I can't get past the first section, I give up.

Dark Souls is actually not all that hard in regards to gameplay actually. Instead of testing your dexterity to insane levels like Ninja Gaidan or Devil May Cry, it tests your memory and ability to detect and exploit your enemies mistakes, weaknesses, and shortcomings.

You really should give Dark Souls another chance - the game is wonderful and the environments are some of the best I've ever had the pleasure to play in a videogame.

And yeah, you can guess what game I voted for in the RPG/UGOTY categories. :P

Pfft! ME3 doesn't even deserve the nom, let alone to win. Skyrim got my votes for most of ME3's categories.

Skyrim is a 2011 game what?

So is TOR.

They probably were released too late for last years votes. Same for GW2 not getting in time for this year.

So Skyrim FTW and stop whining about ME3 going against the juggernaut.

ME3 doesn't even deserve second place. Top two is Batman AC and Skyrim. Only Skyrim got a bigger splash so probably will win it.

I gave Mass Effect 3 GOTY simply because I had the most enjoyment out of it.. endings be damned.

However, I handed best RPG to Witcher 2. The fact that Skyrim and ME3 will be mentioned in terms of RPG goodness alongside Witcher 2 annoys me.

It didn't even deserve coming in second place. Batman AC and Skyrim should finish ahead. BAC because it deserves it and Skyrim because of the sheer number of fanatics.

When Redbox gave me a free game rental, I tried Skyrim then a family member let me use his copy for a weekend. It was an okay game but I think Batman AC was better but I feel Skyrim will win because it's a juggernaut with the fans.

ME3 was not a Skyrim Killer. (sort of a play on WoW Killer)

The ending means it gets no votes. And the other issues not ending related means it shouldn't even be on the list.

If the writers of ME3 wrote Lord of the Rings, they would not have mentioned Sauron until the last 10 pages of Return of the King.
And it would have ended like this

Sauron: Frodo, you have 3 choices now. You can control the Orcs, you can destroy the Orcs, or you can become one with the Orcs.

Frodo: WHAT? Wouldn't control mean that I now do your job? What the hell? You just want to retire?

Sauron: Okay, you got me. Pick from the other two.

Frodo: Wait. What about this ring I've been carrying around for the last two installments of this series?

Sauron: Oh, it doesn't do a thing. You've been trolled.
