PC: Yes, and Windows 7 in case it matters (I've seen others mention this OS).

Additional software: None except 'the usual' (anti-virus, Origin, etc.).

Whoever set up the architecture for the level screwed the pooch....order your squadmates down the ladder and watch closely, you'll see they get on the ladder go up and over slightly, then go down. Bioware fails at pathing.

Sure, it took me 8 minutes of endlessly attempting different things and investigating this thread but I managed to do it when my friend said this:

"Look up when approaching the ladder."

i.e.

"When you're going towards the ladder, look upwards and continue to do so as Shepard begins the 'climbing down' animation."

Someone screwed up placing the ladder. Might be that the ladder itself was stuck deeper in the wall than it was supposed to be, triggering animations even when you haven't gone off the stairs yet.

I think I knew what ladder you meant. I went to go up but Shepard was pushed back for a moment then went up normally. Was still able to go up it first try though.

Thank you very much for the extra details folks. This is helpful. We've checked the level geometry and everything appears to be placed correctly. The issue appears to be limited to the PC version of the game from what we are hearing.

I'd like to gather a bit more information from you so we can have the team investigate further. Could you please answer the following questions for me:

• Was the Banshee dead or alive?
• Who was in your party?
• Did you have Adrenaline Rush on/off before/during the ladder climb
• Did you have anything else running on your PC? (several have reponded only game and Origin, so this is less critical)

Thanks for offering to help Billy, here are all of the answers to the questions you are asking:

The banshee was dead, annihilated her with the anti-material assault rifle
Garrus and Javik were in my party
I almost always choose infiltrator so Shep doesn't even have Adrenaline rush
I had steam, origin, mass effect 3, firefox, and skype open

Hey folks, we have a theory of what may be causing the issue. Because it appears to be limited to PC, we've been testing running the game on it's own and running it while other resource intensive apps are running in the background (FRAPS is a good ).

For those that have a save game that can reproduce the issue, can you please do the following for me?
- Please send me your system specs, including ram and video card details
- For those with medium to high end PC's can you please try to reproduce the issue with all other programs shut down.

Programs such as FRAPS or other video capture software tend to hog up resources.  Having Origin and Steam both open at the same time may also be an issue. Also, if you are running a web browser in the background with several tabs/pages open, please try closing the browser or limiting the number of tabs open at a time.  Essentially we want to test how it runs on your machines with only the absolute bare minimum running (game and Origin)

We appreciate your help with this.

okay i just tried it with everything closed, even though i have no idea how steam and origin don't get along when they have nothing to do with each other, same issue, my specs are as follows:

Computer model: Lenovo IdeaPad Y560
Hard Drive: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB hard drive, 5400 RPM
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD5730 1024MB Video RAM
RAM: 1333mHz 8GB RAM chips (2x 4GB)
CPU: Intel Core i7 Q 720 mobile CPU clocked at 1.6 gHz without turbo boost, 2.3 gHz with turbo boost up and running

that's all the specs i can remember off the top of my head, thanks for the possible solution billy

EDIT: I do not have FRAPS or any other type of screen capture software other than Camtasia Studio 8 and I rarely open that

I have the same problem on both PCs - everything disabled apart from Microsoft Security Essentials on both systems:

Laptop: HP Pavilion G6-1220SA - AMD Llano A8-3500M CPU, Integrated Radeon HD 6620g, 6Gb RAM (1x2Gb & 1x4Gb), 128Gb Samsung 830 SSD.

Desktop: Custom-built PC - Intel Core i7 2600K, 2x Radeon HD 5850s in CrossFire, 8Gb RAM (4x2Gb), 1Tb Seagate HDD.

My wife has completed Leviathan on the XBOX 360 without any issues, so it must be a PC-exclusive issue.

Billy I actually had the ladder glitch on a different level, it was the ladder at 1min 10secs into this video:


no Banshee there
Javik & Liara
Infiltrator with no powers on
ME3, Origin & Kapersky AV running (EDIT: The AV wasnt scanning, it was just on, like always)

AMD Athlon II 640 x4, nVidia 560 EX OC, Win 7 x64 Pro.

Thanks all. The team is continuing to investigate.

If you run into this issue again, we're curious if this occurs if you lower your graphics settings as well.

From what we can tell right now, it's a timing issue with the ladder animation caused by the PC's resources being tied up when trying to play the animation. For those that have found success by looking down or up, this is likely due to the game not having to draw out the full view of the vista in the distance. We'll update as we learn more. Please let me know if you have any success at a lower graphics setting.

Tried from save point with only Origins in background. Team mates Ashley/Liara (who zip down and up that ladder just to tease me lol)

Turned off AA and dynamic shadows in ME3 options and so far reduced screen resolution 4 times. Still getting same glitch.

Custom Desktop :
AMD Phenom IIx4 840 Processor 3.20 ghz
4gb DDR3 1333mhz
1TB SATA2 HD
1gb Nvidia GeForce GTS 450
Win7 64bit

EDITED: Just reduced the screen resolution to 800 x 600 (with AA and dynamic shadows on) and there was NO GLITCH!!!!  It failed for me at every attempt above this resolution with or without AA and shadows turned on/off.

kinda weird how there was no glitches for the most part dlc related then after leviathan it starts to act up, that can't be a coincidence, because I'm also reading on other threds some users are having trouble with Extended Cut cinematics that have to deal with visions for the possible outcomes when you talk to the Catalyst

This bug also appears at the beginning of the ardat yakshi mission by the way. This and the Namakli one are the only two occurences I can remember of. Also I usually have nothing else running than ME3 and origin, but my PC isn't really good so framerate drops aren't uncommon anyway.

Looking up not working for me, turning down the resolution to 800x600 (that's lowest I think) did the trick. Of course once you're down you should switch to your normal resolution. Sorry if this solution has already been posted, didn't have time to read them all.

Just made it down the damn ladder, keept trying over and over and eventually it worked.

I'm only running Origin in the back ground - no steam or web browser etc and I still have this issue on my Win 7 pc
