Um...David Gaider posted it himself that the next game would not have the same amount of dialogue that DA:3 did which is a BLESSING

I won't buy it if it has auto-dialogue...

That was one of the majore faillures of ME3, let's hope they understand that

There will be autodialogue, no question. It caters to super casual fans who hate having to think, and it cuts cost. The question is will it be an acceptable level for rpg fans? If it's anything like ME3 my answer is hell no. No matter how it turns out, DA3 would not be a day 1 purchase for me. I need extensive fan reviews and youtube clips before I consider another BioWare game.

Oh, look another "I'm smart because I play RPGs and hate CoD" post. Are you seriously implying that it takes a significant amount of brain power to pick a dialogue choice? I, too, hope there is little to no auto-dialogue, but lets not going blaming the "casual fans" for things that are completely out of their control.

I never said anything about CoD, I said casual and lazy fans. Meaning fans who are lazy and only play easy games and don't want to think, make decisions, or figure anything out. My brother is exactly like this. Back in the day he hated "reading games" (rpgs) and he hates dialogue, (he skips all dialoge and then doesn't know where to go or what to do) story, character interaction, etc...he just wants to run around and shoot/slash things. He also sucks at games. For example he's been playing (rather trying) to play skyrim, he has like 30+ hours and yet he can't figure out how to do a quest, recruit a companion, kill anything harder than a wolf, and he wears heavy armor yet puts his points into health only, uses magic all the time but has no magica and can't hit anything, etc...I feel like this is the kind of player BioWare has been catering to. It's a huge amount of people. That would explain why they've been dumbing down everything from combat to dialogue to maps. If games are made with this kind of person in mind, they are not games that would be fun for me.

Same here. I don't think auto-dialogue helps immerse the player. It may help dialogue flow smoother, but it just turns everything into a semi-interactive cutscene. Worked for Heavy Rain. Doesn't work for a RPG.

It wouldn't endear me to it, that's for sure. The amount of auto dialog they had in da2 was fine, I hope they stick with that. ME3's level was absurd!

Yes it would. I see no reason why MY CHARACTER should talk on it's own. I'm the one who play the role of the character and therefore, if I don't pick a dialogue, neither should My Character. I hate sharing my PC with developer's character in an RPG. So, It's either developer's set character who talks on it's own or my character who only talk if I choose him/her to do so.

this for me as well.  Except the first line I hope bioware learns that to make a rpg they need to eliminate auto dialogue.

Yes it would. This was the only thing I hated about ME3. I'm pretty sure someone at Bioware said they would not do this in DA3 in the forums somewhere. Could be wrong though.

I loved Shepard's dialogue in ME3, but I've never bought into the idea of a "blank slate" main character anyway. I can see why it would appeal to others, but to me when a game takes that approach I just feel like the main character is the least interesting person in their own story.

So it certainly wouldn't kill the game for me. If it were done well I would find it an improvement.

Autodialouge would kill ANY RPG, period. There is no two-ways about it. The FF games would make pretty decent RPGs IF they didn't have auto-dialouge and IF gameplay was somehow integrated within the narrative/character development.

I think auto-dialogue can be a good thing when used appropriately. The way it was used in DA2 made sense and helped with the presentation in my eyes. Even if they do it like ME3 it won't be as much of an issue since it's an entirely new character and not one you've played through two previous games with.

Auto-dialogue goes directly against what roleplaying is about so it should be kept as close to non-existent as possible. But for some reason with DA2 I didn't object as much to it. Maybe because most of my ire was directed towards the paraphrasing, or possibly I was simply resigned to getting a quasi-RPing experience.

If they keep it to DA2 levels or below, and as I understand it they will be, I'll be happy. Happy enough, anyway.

Even if they do it like ME3 it won't be as much of an issue since it's an entirely new character and not one you've played through two previous games with.

Doesn't that simply amount to you not caring as much about it because the character isn't as much yours? That should raise red flags all over that you're doing something wrong in your RPG.

Edit: game game game

Well, yes. If it's like Mass Effect 3 (which is a shooter with 1 ending. And don't you dare tell me otherwise).
It's all about being in full control. Otherwise there is no reason to PLAY Bioware game at all. There are games that do everything better - except offer no story choice at all, except dumb 2 way branches in couple of places - look at Elder Scrolls, Dragon's Dogma.

I've talked about this before-- the
amount of "auto-dialogue" (if that's what you want to call it) is
unlikely to change much from DA2. We tend to run with it once the player
has made a choice of tone, and avoid the PC expressing opinions without
direct input (so any comments are usually intro text or "tell me more"
type lines). In fact, there will probably be less need even for those
lines, due to things I shan't yet discuss.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

No auto-dialogue for DA3. They don't need to "dumb down" Dragon Age's gameplay, anymore than they already have.
