In Control the leviathans can still take away control of the reapers from you and probably even use the reapers against you

Uh... How exactly can they do that? Just because they can control husks doesn't mean they can control the reapers themselves. If they could, why would they be hiding from the reapers in the first place?

They are on equal power of the reapers they are only hideing because alot of them were harvested in the first cycle they're trying to regain the numbers and exist in secret but they can control the reapers forces they can make a soverign class reaper be destroyed with little effort they are to be feared just as much as the reapers

But yes they may undo your control and they may take over if you destroy

Also they took control of a brute and took control of a human several solar systems away to try to stop commander shepard from finding them

That’s OK, I sent an asteroid to crash into their stupid planet.

Lol this.
And for all we know the Leviathans can't fly to other planets, and I've heard there's only three of them we see so they obviously aren't the biggest threat to the galaxy....
Plus they're like the size of the Normandy. They're no reaper.

If the Leviathans are so infallable, they wouldn't have lost to the Catalyst in the first place. The only way The Catalyst could harvest them is by force, which it does for every single cycle afterwards. The Leviathans are waiting for a race strong enough to get rid of the Reapers for them.

Because the leviathans were the ones who created the catalyst and the catalyst made the first reaper from the leviathans that is why they resemble each other

I didn't buy the DLC, nor will I, so any content makes no changes to the end of the game for me. Destroy is still the best of a bad bunch...

Well, you know what this means?

That the endings suck.

Not the biggest revelation, but you must notice that it's pretty impressive how more lore exposition provides the ending with a new kick in the face.

OP: What you failed to mention is that there is absolutely no reason at all to think that synthesis will do anything to stop the new breed of organic-synthetic hybrids from being taken over like the legion of other lesser races.
Which is hardly surprising, since there was never any reason to think that synthesis would end the war either (hint: us humans never had too much of a problem with killing fellow humans, so why should making everyone into the same kind of hybrid magically stop the killing?)

Regardless of the ending, the Leviathans, the real threat to galactic life, are still out there. [Buy the sequel!]

You know what game had GREAT foreshadowing a new antagonist? Half-Life.

When I was in Xen shooting stuff up I kept hearing a voice detailing these cryptic messages like:
- slaves...we are their slaves

and more on

Then we kill the last boss and the game ends

Sequel time comes and turns out this "they" is actually a very VERY dangerous bad guy called the Combine.

Don't forget that they've been around for longer than the reapers have. Even if the reapers harvested them and there were only a few left, they could've reproduced for the whole period of time from their harvest until the time of Shepard. In all this time, they could've easily built up enough numbers to be able to control the reapers, if they really are capable of controlling them. So the fact that they haven't taken them down yet basically leads us to conclude that they can't control them. They can just destroy/disable them and control their pawns, which are the husks, brutes, banshees and so on.

Considering they have only a few left...

Leviathan is outnumbered by this cycle. If anything, we would be killing them.

Another thing, we can also block the artifacts and prevent them from controlling us.

To answer OP, nope. Destroy is still a good option.

This.
It's impressive how they decided to improve upon their ending with DLC, then just crap all over it with a seperate one.
What's the point in that?

This is sort of how I see it.

My new headcanon: the whole population of the galaxy is evacuated, all the fleets and civilian ships head towards the citadel, Shepard opens the Citadel relay, all the fleets are instantly teleported into dark space. They turn on their FTL drives and head for another galaxy, and leave this one for reapers and leviathans and space kids to do whatever the hell they want with it. Fuçk it.

They  realised trying to paint Synthesis as bunnies and rainbows failed. Therefore they had to try a new tack and attack what people like about destroy in order to try and raise up their fav ending in comparison.

Control is still as sketchy as usual... you outnumber the Leviathans 3000 to one, so they can flay all the Reapers they want, you're still God of the force that's unbeatable through conventional means.

Synthesis is being pushed more than ever, it is known.

Destroy is made to look even worse through more contrived plot gymnastics.

Destroy was always bad.  The only way you could pretend it wasn't was if you insisted the catalyst was lying even though it had no reason to be lying.

Seriously, it just feels like we lowly races have no place in the galaxy anymore. Either we get pissed on with the happy beam of green because of something that had nothing to do with us, or massive monsters inevitably butcher us. So I'd rather just leave the place and go where we can just live in peace and be left alone.

Not with all our newly acquired dextro rations!

Destroy was great and a major factor of what made it great was the that it left galactic society free to develop as it wished. Now they've thrown another obstacle. Now the galaxy needs to gather its wounded armies and whilst repairing relays build a war armada to stave off the threat of another race of godlike interfering leviathons.

Aren't the Leviathans synthetic, or atleast somewhat? Destroy would kill them if they are. And control would make them under Shepard's control, right? Not sure since I didn't play the DLC and don't plan on wasting my money on it.

That’s all well and good, but if you think the galaxy is big, the distances between galaxies are tenfold. And there is nothing in there. No easily tappable fuel supplies, nothing.

Not to jump all up in your headcanon, but I wanted to warn you before you take off never to return! ^_^

It's just depressing. We're just living in borrowed time, massive forces you can't do anything against are about to butcher you and everything you love... except if you accept a radical change to the very nature of your existence because you lowly races are not good enough to live alongside the really important people (reapers and leviathans)

No thanks. I just grab the ball and go home. Clearly this is not our galaxy anymore, no reason to stay (ie, to play).
