- Note: not trying to be mean to bioware, they do a lot of great stuff, but I think this is fair criticism.

The Leviathans:
They let their thralls build their own machines that destroyed them, so instead of telling their thralls not to do that, they built a mad AI that turned on them in an instant...

If this is the big reveal of Leviathan... wow.

Here's a solution Leviathans: if the lesser organics are your THRALLS, just slap em on the wrist, with your mind control, whenever they go near a computer or something.

Leviathan: "Oi, Lesser Organic, stop making that AI computer friend with knives for hands!"
Lesser Organic: "Yes, my lord"

 - problem solved, no need for the starkid to be constructed.

For the record: I hope that IT is true, because that would make a lot more sense in context with this DLC. Maybe thats why the DLC is so confusing.

NOTE: If not taken at face value, the Leviathans could indeed be lying to shepard to look like victims, which would make sense given how odd their explanation is, discuss here.

Don't you wish that at the end after you go up the elevator you encounter an the starkid as an avatar of the leviathans.

The logic of the cycle would be that the leviathans created the reapers as that was their perception of life. The leviathans were extra-galactic (or even extra-dimensional) and they kept the reaper cycle going as that is how their perception of life and evolution of life was - cyclical. Eventually they knew the reapers would be destroyed and a new cycle would begin again (by their intervention or not)

With the reapers destroyed shepard gets an ominous nod that they know the cycle is over and they will be watching.

lol yeah, ergh, how did they make this whole reaper origin worse then it was!?!?! I liked the idea behind the catalyst, but it had SOME mystery to it, now it's just "oh we were like gods, but made the dumbest mistake ever by letting our THRALLS (the people we control) destroy themselves....

dude, until I finished ME3, I was singing BioWare's praises from the rooftops, I bloody forced all my friends to buy the first two damn games and support this developer. I invested a crap tonne of my escape with Mass Effect.

BioWare doesn't suck, they have either clearly got this narrative logic thing wrong and are digging themselves into a hole.

Or, they are planning some awesome indoctrination theory type dealie, which we still don't know the full story on.

Eithe way, a literal interpretation of these endings is so full of disbelief and secondary world issues it is absurd.
