It's official, BioWare are trying to make me laugh.

Though I must admit it is nice of them to attempt to amuse me so much.
I mean, it's hard work making such an incredibly dumb plot that my only reaction is giggling of the 1st order.
So yes, Leviathan. It seems that BioWare has been paying attention to the Catalyst apologists of late, in their latest attempt to defend it's actions.
Too bad that by doing so, they've made the Catalyst a liar (again), crazy or possibly both. It's especially hilarious when the Catalyst claims it was designed to make peace with synthetics, immediately admits that Leviathan's explanation (that it was designed to preserve life at all costs) is true, then repeats it's original claim shortly after.
Hey, BioWare. Either you intentionally made the Catalyst a lunatic, or you don't realise that these two things aren't the same!
Also, too bad that they've gone and made the entire debate as to the Catalyst's responsibility irrelevant. Think about it. Either the Catalyst betrayed it's creator's directives, in which case it's logic is toast and it can't be trusted or it's following the directives of creators who are confirmed to be evil control freak sociopaths in which case their logic which it follows is toast and it can't be trusted.
So yeah, thanks BioWare. The Catalyst is either a psychopath or the tool of psychopaths. Weren't you trying to apologise for it again? You're doing it wrong!
Also, thanks for confirming the creators were not only derps, but super grandmaster derps. "We saw that the lesser species who we controlled made machines that destroyed them. So instead of telling the remaining lesser species to knock it off or else we... decided to do exactly what they did." Uhuh.
And nice explanation for your defeat there, Leviathans. You can usurp control of Reaper minions and EMP bomb Sovereign class ships to death... but you couldn't defeat the Catalyst's information gathering pawns. Yeah, sure. Whatever.
In any case, thank you BioWare for a few minutes of youtube entertainment. It brightened my day.

I don't get how "at all costs" gets by people. He did exactly what he was programmed to do, the Leviathan itself admits to such. It's STILL performing it's original duty. What they forgot was to specify that "at all cost" wasn't meant to be "turn us into the solution".

I will however recommend Leviathan to everyone who wants to add some flavour to their ME3 experience. It's really fun, lenghty and with some great set-pieces.
There's more exploration, interaction and attention to detail than in any other vanilla mission in ME3, so if you got the money and you haven't sold ME3 yet, I say buy it. It's better than most of what is on the disc(s) already.

The arrogant, self-absorbed attitude of the Leviathans didn't make that obvious? Their control wasn't absolute, they were just the dominant race of the galaxy. Like how the Protheans were in their cycle. It's actually funny how much the Prothean Cycle and the Leviathan Cycle mirror each other.

You miss the point. Either it's a psychopath, or it's following the commands given by psychopaths, since Leviathan tells us that the creators themselves were extremist, boorish, racist, control freaks.
Either way, any remaining claim that it's logic has any validity or that it's trustworthy are toast. Gone. BioWare shot themselves in the foot. Again.
This is of course assuming that it's the truth, because the Catalyst still claims otherwise and then contradicts itself. Somebody is lying. The question in either case is: Why?

Last I checked the Protheans practiced what they preached.
How the hell did the creators go from "Making AIs is bad and will inevitably destroy you." to "Let's make an AI! Aghast! We were totally unprepared for the possibility that it might destroy us!".

It's the second. It's following the programming of a bunch of self-absorbed, arrgoant jerks. They didn't wish for synthetics to overrun the galaxy, and created an AI to come up with an answer based on the information it gathered. They foolishly believed that telling it "at all costs" meant "As long as we survive".
Again, NOTHING about the Catalyst has actually changed. We already knew he was operating on a flawed solution to a problem that as it turns out, his creators, the Leviathans, CAUSED! If the Leviathans didn't go around subjugating every lesser race, the races wouldn't have built synthetics.
And the cause of the synthetic conflict is the fear that the created synthetics would subjugate the creators. Again, this doesn't change anything with regards to the Catalyst, except to prove what people theorized: His creators are a bunch of ****s. I consider it ironic justice they got turned into the very thing they wanted to get rid of: Synthetics.
