Though I must admit it is nice of them to attempt to amuse me so much.
I mean, it's hard work making such an incredibly dumb plot that my only reaction is giggling of the 1st order.

So yes, Leviathan. It seems that BioWare has been paying attention to the Catalyst apologists of late, in their latest attempt to defend it's actions.
Too bad that by doing so, they've made the Catalyst a liar (again), crazy or possibly both. It's especially hilarious when the Catalyst claims it was designed to make peace with synthetics, immediately admits that Leviathan's explanation (that it was designed to preserve life at all costs) is true, then repeats it's original claim shortly after.
Hey, BioWare. Either you intentionally made the Catalyst a lunatic, or you don't realise that these two things aren't the same!

Also, too bad that they've gone and made the entire debate as to the Catalyst's responsibility irrelevant. Think about it. Either the Catalyst betrayed it's creator's directives, in which case it's logic is toast and it can't be trusted or it's following the directives of creators who are confirmed to be evil control freak sociopaths in which case their logic which it follows is toast and it can't be trusted.

So yeah, thanks BioWare. The Catalyst is either a psychopath or the tool of psychopaths. Weren't you trying to apologise for it again? You're doing it wrong!
Also, thanks for confirming the creators were not only derps, but super grandmaster derps. "We saw that the lesser species who we controlled made machines that destroyed them. So instead of telling the remaining lesser species to knock it off or else we... decided to do exactly what they did." Uhuh.
And nice explanation for your defeat there, Leviathans. You can usurp control of Reaper minions and EMP bomb Sovereign class ships to death... but you couldn't defeat the Catalyst's information gathering pawns. Yeah, sure. Whatever.

In any case, thank you BioWare for a few minutes of youtube entertainment. It brightened my day.

One of the most disappointing, poorly thought out OP's I've read on here in ages. And it's so self-important, too. What a shame.

I don't care how the AI's minions destroyed a whole race of apex predator organics although it does not seem to make much sense.

But can someone explain to me how these two statements are true at the same time?
a) Harbinger is the first Reaper, formed by harvesting the super-powerful Leviathans
B) a SINGLE Leviathan claims to be MORE than a Reaper

Although I don't think exactly the same as Braz or completely agree but there is some validity in his or her comment. She did not buy the DLC. When use example of shareholders, do you the business listen more to the shareholders who own shares or the person who just looks at the shares without buying them. Does not mean have to ignore them but the people who do invest their money into something should have more sway in direction than those that don't.

That's a good question if you like philosophy.
But you're not supposed to explain and understand.
You must accept it as a true statement even if it comes from a dubious source that might had at some point enslaved the entire galaxy, because bad guys will always tell the truth and are trustworthy.

Different kinds and varieties of Reapers. Regardless, there is vastly more Reapers than Leviathans hence why the few remaining Leviathans went into hiding and avoided conflict and the war. They only joined in this time because for first time they stand a chance of winning. In all other cycles they could not and were not in such a position. In regard to exact question Leviathans were overconfident and their ego matches that of this OP. It was their overconfidence and ego that led to the Reapers and cycles, it was their overconfidence and arrogance that leads them to make such a claim. It does not make the claim true just because they say it.

I think we're all shareholders on this forum. Or did you get to sign in without purchase?

They were taken by surprise, simultaneously, all over the galaxy, and if it hadn't been for the element of surprise, they would have not been destroyed. Suddenly attacked, without warning. Sort of like Pearl Harbour.

That's how those statements are true. Thanks for asking.

You are not a shareholder just because you were a customer just like I am not a shareholder of Tescos because I bought a banana from them decades ago. You buy ME3 you deserve more say about that product than someone who did not buy it which is why you can even log in here to this section in the first place. But the DLC is a seporate purchase and the same could apply. Someone who played through it, experienced it and owns it should have more say than someone who skimmed through a couple videos and never bought it.

Likewise someone who watched a video of it deserves more notice than someone relying on hearsay and rumour from other people and not seen, bought or played it. Owner of it and experienced it for themselves which are the actual people who help refund its development > Someone who watched parts of it without buying or experiencing it themselves > Someone who merely got told something by someone else who claims to have seen or played it.

As I said I might not agree 100% with person I backed up in a general sense but I can see the logic behind it.

I know.

Upon reading the plot developed by these idiotic writers who have to be suffering from a lack of oxygen to the brain, my response would go a little something like this: www.youtube.com/watch

Or send them a few billion and I could buy them and have them make whatever I want. Your sarcasm fails to impress and your ignorance regarding my opinion on the subject is amusing. I never said I agree with everything the other person said, I explained what I could see as the logic behind what the other person said. There is some truth to that logic but only in part being money does have influence regardless of whether you like that fact or not.

Trying arguing OP's conculsions instead of where they learned of Leviathan story line.

its never said it is, in game.
only that is has a clear goal that its programmed to persue in ANYWAY it sees fit.

please provide this proof you speak of. then PM me the link to that post.
but dont send me some link to a hole thread. just tell me in your own words here
what the proof is

"...a mandate to preserve life at any cost" is exactly what it was programmed to do. Is fire psychotic for burning? Is a toaster psychotic for making toast? Riou's point still stands, and that is essentially what you just said.

And for those arguing that the Leviathans could have stopped this...

"We grew more powerful, and they were cared for, but we could not protect them from themselves. Over time, the species built synthetics that destroyed them. Tribute does not flow from a dead race."
- Leviathan

This line of dialogue indicates that the Leviathans have tried to stop organic civilizations from building synthetics that destroyed them but failed, which shows us that the Leviathans had limited control over their thralls. They couldn't simply tell them to "stop building synthetics" and otherwise threaten them with death if they did so: they needed the thrall species. The Codex mentions the following...

Their current world is unlikely their homeworld, so it is surmised that the Leviathans mastered technology and spaceflight despite their immense size and aquatic nature. Their ability to communicate with and mentally dominate land-based sapients would have been a necessary step, and so whatever homeworld the Leviathans hail from would have included a thrall species whose civilization served their purposes. Presumably their bodies can withstand both the extreme pressure of the depths and the lesser pressure of a coastal area where they might come into contact with these thralls.

OP is therefore a Reaper. Or a Leviathan.

Arrogance proved the downfall of the Leviathans in thinking that they were always in control. It also proved the downfall of the Reapers in underestimating the organic races' capabilities of creating a superweapon capable of defeating them. It will also be your downfall, TAO, and many here on the boards have finally seen you for your self-importance, arrogance, and smugness.

For your sake, TAO, I suggest you abandon your self-important, close-minded stance. It does not do your side of the debate any better than it would for anyone here.

All I know for certain is that the catalyst gives me the craps when it says "dur, we thought the crucible design was wiped out . We didn't think it was a threat blah blah didn't know you were building it" after the saved Rachni queen turns on me and sabotages a small part of it.

Yes Reapers. You did indeed know where it was. You have its location and everything.

Stupid machines.

Edit: Originally wrote catalyst instead of crucible.

Right, the problem is the OP, not at all that the endings totally suck or that Leviathan is yet another missed opportunity to do something correctly.

Way to divert.
