Though most people probably wouldn't know this, earlier when I downloaded Leviathan, it decided to ghost my N7 Spec Ops war assests (which numbers over 2,000 so you can understand I would be a little...ticked) until a later time when they magically reappeared after I said something on the forums.

Now however, I have found a larger and more pressing problem. One that is preventing me from progressing through the DLC <_<

Basically, I am at the dig site where you find Ann, and before you get to her you have to run through a bunch of apartment-style buildings jutting through a cliff face while going up and down ladders and across bridges, etc...

Well after finding the bridge with the faulty wiring (which Javik accuses the wiring of being too primitive) and killing the banshee, I cross the bridge and climb the ladder to the top of one of the little rectangular buildings, run across, try to climb down the next ladder annddddd...nothing.

Shepard plays through the 'hop around, grab the ladder's sides, and slide down' animation, while hovering above the ladder and not actually moving anywhere until the animation is over, and then he turns around and returns to standing on the roof. So I try and go and reload from my last save point annnddddd....same thing. <_<

It doesn't seem like anyone else has had this problem, but this is really annoying since I... CAN'T GET PAST THESE DAMN LADDERS and get on with the rest of the DLC that I paid $10 for...Probably my own damn fault for buying any SP DLC....

I'm going to try restarting the whole rescue Ann mission one more time, but if anyone else has encountered this problem and knows how to deal with it, it would be nice to know...

::Edit::

Also, I can't go down the ladder than I went up to get to the top of the appartment/building/thing either. So I am basically stuck up there until I reload from a previous point.

[[EDIT]]

Thanks to community support, we have managed to come up with a small list of easy fixes that will get you past any ladder that you may get stuck on during the Leviathan mission, or any other part of the game.

Solutions:
  • Aim straight up and walk towards the ladder. This may take a couple attempts, but this should work. If not...
  • Try walking down the ladder backwards. If that still doesn't work and you play PC...
  • Go into the menu and reset the resolution to the lowest possible setting. Then switch to windowed mode. This should allow you to go down with no problems.
Thanks to everyone that posted with solutions and quick fixes!

So I restarted the mission again and ran into the exact same problem....again. So at this point I am screwed and cannot progress through the rest of the DLC. Thanks a lot Bioware.

Also, apparently my squad mates can go down the ladder, but I can't. A fat lot of good that does me.

I'm having the same exact problem. Restarting the mission, restarting the game, even restarting origin don't fix it. Checked the PC support forum, apparently if you look straight up when you walk toward the ladder that makes it work, although it may take a few tries.

UPDATE: Just tried looking straight up the whole time trying to go down the ladder as suggested in the PC support forum, it worked on the first try.  Past the ladder and moving on.

This has been going on since before the DLC so it's not a new problem. It's basically been happening to me for a while with just about half the ladders ive encountered in the game. All I do is try to go down it and keep the camera facing in the direction of the ladder while still trying to move in that direction. I still get stuck w/ the weird animation but after its done my character simple drops down to the next level from the top of the ladder.

For me, when this happens (and it happens in several places in the regular game as well), I just let it go for a few seconds and eventually Shepard will fall. Does that not happen for either of you? Just try waiting a few moments and eventually Shepard will break free, turn around, then fall.

Yeah, every time my Shepard broke free and turned around he stayed at the top of the ladder, he never fell.  But as I mentioned in the update in my post, looking straight up while approaching the ladder and during the "going down the ladder" animation fixed the problem.

What's odd is that the looking-up thing never works for me. I wonder what makes the difference?

Quick fix: Quicksave at top of affected ladder. Use gibbed to modify your y position +200 units. Reload modified save in game. It's ugly, but it'll work.

Thanks for some new information everyone.

Also, another fix that worked for me (and is a little easier to do than rewritting code or anything like that) is to go into your menu under options and set the screen resolution to the lowest setting, and then changing the game to windows mode. That worked for me, and will probably work on all ladder based problems apparently.

Damn, that happened to me too. When did the numbers come back for you? I think I checked after I finished Leviathan and they weren't there.

Approach the ladder looking up the sky. After 1-2 attempts, you will manage to get down, that's the best solution so far

If only you were an Adept Fury who could teleport past ladders :-D

I had a similar glitch in which I got out of the mech to grab a pistol mod I spotted, then Shep had second thoughts about getting back in. She just kept grabbing up at it, then stepping back down. Had to restart the mission, and I think it was due to stopping the mech in front of cover.

Considering that area is chock full of cover, great QA testing BW *slow clap*

For those still having a problem with this, approach the ladder and then walk backwards and you'll fall off.

Looking straight up while walking towards the ladder did the trick for me (at the 5th attempt).

Holy... That happened to me too! Thanks for posting the solution to this problem, it's a really annoying bug, I thought I had wasted my money, thanks to you guys and the player community, this kind of bugs shouldn't be happening, I wonder who is in charge of Quality assurance and testing in Bioware...

No problem. It was really frustrating for me too. Thankfully I created this forum and got a few solutions from fellow players right away, and decided to update the OP to make sure that anyone else with the problem could find the solution easily enough.

Honestly though, if changing the resolution can fix the problem, I'm not sure what kind of coding causes the problem to happen.
