I know how to do this in windows... but I can't figure out how to do it in the cider wrapper. I am stuck in a part of the game and can't get past it.

i have edited my keybindings.ini file but I don't see anyway to enter -enabledeveloperconsole into the mac/cider program...

Thanks

at the end of:
~/Library/Preferences/Dragon Age Origins Preferences/config

add:
[AppDefaults\\daorigins.exe\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

(there's only supposed to be two slashes before and after "daorigins.exe", but the forum munges that)

tried that but when I press the tilde key I can still use normal keys like 'c' to bring up character sheet and 'i' to bring up inventory, which suggests that the developer console isn't working.

 Another thing I tried was adding a 'CiderGameOptions' entry in my Contents > Info.plist as per the post in this forum here.

Set the relevant Key Bindings in the .ini file and still not working.

Any other ideas?

Here's the last few lines of my config file:

$ tail ~/Library/Preferences/Dragon\\ Age\\ Origins\\ Preferences/config

"ctl0" = "hw"

"FullDuplex" = "N"

;; App default settings

;; Ereg

[AppDefaults\\\\eReg.exe\\\\transgaming]

"Disable" = "Y"

[AppDefaults\\\\daorigins.exe\\\\transgaming]

"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

Yup, works fine. Didn't touch the bindings.ini file at all.

[SOLVED] Thanks to krischel for solution. :-)

Seems I was changing the wrong config file. I had looked inside the Dragon Age package (ie. click 'Show Package Contents' and had changed the config file in the preferences directory there.

There is ANOTHER config file in the user Library, this is the one to change!

~/Library/Preferences/Dragon\\ Age\\ Origins\\ Preferences/config

Add the following two lines at the very end of this file (as per krischel's post) and your all good.

[AppDefaults\\daorigins.exe\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

Cheers All
Happy Gaming :-)

NOTE: There are only two (2) backslash required wherever you see four (4) in this post. Somehow the forum mucks it up.

spamrodeo69, try running this command and paste your results here:

tail -6 ~/Library/Preferences/Dragon\\ Age\\ Origins\\ Preferences/config

(again, realize that the forum munges the slashes sometimes and puts doubles)

Yes, in Terminal. "tail" is a command line utility that will print out the last few lines of a file. "-6" means it will print out six lines.

i did it manually - here are the last lines of the config file

[winealsa]

"UseMMap" = "Y"

"pcm0" = "hw"

"ctl0" = "hw"

"FullDuplex" = "N"

;; App default settings

;; Ereg

[AppDefaults\\\\eReg.exe\\\\transgaming]

"Disable" = "Y"

As you can see, the last lines of your config file don't have the right text. You need to add this to the bottom of the file:

[AppDefaults\\\\daorigins.exe\\\\transgaming]

"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

NOTE: There are only two (2) backslash required wherever you see four (4) in this post. Somehow the forum mucks it up.

Hmm, I'm having the same problem as several people. I am unable to get the console to function regardless of what I add to the config file. Curiously, though, there's a discrepancy between the config file as opened for modification in TextEdit, and what Terminal shows after running the command "tail -6 ~/Library/Preferences/Dragon\\ Age\\ Origins\\ Preferences/config"

What I'm showing in TextEdit:

;; App default settings
;; Ereg
[AppDefaults\\\\eReg.exe\\\\transgaming]
"Disable" = "Y"

[AppDefaults\\\\daorigins.exe\\\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

What Terminal is throwing back:

;; App default settings
;; Ereg
[AppDefaults\\\\eReg.exe\\\\transgaming]
"Disable" = "Y"

"cmdlineadd" = "-enabledeveloperconsole"

O
ne of the lines is getting eaten somewhere along the way, but I'm uncertain where or how that would be. Any suggestions for resolving the problem?

I generally type it Shift + `.

Though I currently have Grave programmed as my console activation key and it's doing squat (I've also tried Shift + ` to get the tilde). Of course, I'm also having trouble getting the system to acknowledge that an entire line of critical code for console activation even exists, so IDEK anymore.

Hm, yeah, I'm not having any luck, either. I've modified the config file, put the suggested script in the appropriate folder (though what are we supposed to name it, that was never mentioned -- I just called it console), and no dice. :\\

It's really weird that other people have had absolutely problem with this, and then some of us keep running up against brick walls.
