You all know there have been leaks in another thread about a possible sequel to DA 2. One of the characters i find is quite interesting, Cole the spirit. While he is just a spirit, i love his cold character. And he sounds awesome every time he says, "look into my eyes." I always wanted a grim and Dark character, morrigan came close but cole sounds perfect. Too bad he is a spirit rather than a human.

Feel free to comment, though.Posted Image

Maybe it's better not to have the spoiler in the title and before the spoiler warning.

I like the ambiguity of Cole's condition, we aren't sure if he's a spirit or human (at least based on the survey description) - it should be really interesting to find out about his background.

I am wondering how he joins the party, if he indeed is a companion - and more intriguingly, if he's a companion only the PC can see. *That* could make for some great scenes.

Having a invisibly companion would be great.

Cole is a character from the novel Asunder.

One of the more interesting characters we've seen in the wider IP, with a very particular skill set and identity issues.

(In fact, thinking about his character again makes him perfect for a rogue.)

I really enjoyed Asunder.

Cole is an interesting one, though. Without spoilers, I think I'd find interacting with him a bit distressing.

I quite like "evil" characters, or those who do evil things for various motivations, but I'd tend to see Cole as "beyond redemption" from the book. (But, it's rubbery. If done well, it could be awesome.)

(Edit: PS. It's like in Game of Thrones and those books. The characters are complex, and can do terrible things, but none of the characters who actually do real evil have a POV. It would be like having Jon Irenicus as a party member.)

This should be moved to the spoilers section. And Cole would be hard to do seeing as he is invisable... But he would be bad ass as he is now a spirit of Vengence with no pesky Anders to hold him. Ack.

Cole gained the ability to somewhat control his invisibility toward the end of Asunder, and he also came to the realization of his true nature at the end, which may have affected his appearing invisible to everyone without intending to be so. Nor is Cole "evil" per se; what he does is very, very gray given his circumstances.

(I agree this should be in spoilers.)

I had heaps of empathy for Cole by the end of the book, but he did what he did for selfish reasons, fear/weakness, not honour or some greater good. I don't think fear and weakness are bad, but doing "that" for fear and weakness is bad (to my mind.) I think he makes a better book character, because he's removed from the reader in a way that he wouldn't be from the player in the game.

(But, I'm happy to disagree. And, maybe that makes him a great character, that people can experience him divergently.)

I think Cole would be an interesting companion. As he realizes his true nature at the end of Asunder, he wouldn't be a cut and dry character that we already know about, he could be wildly different in future encounters.

I kind of agree with this, I'd be really interested in learning more about Cole in another book, but I'd worry that his whole concept would have to be watered down in order to fit him into a game as a party member.

Also, can you imagine how repetitive the party banters would be?  "Who is that guy over there?"  "Cole who?"  "Wait, who were we talking about again???"

Syllogi I think that would be great party banter heh.

But seeing as at the end of Asunder Cole know full well what he is most of those things are bound to change.

He is a demon. People were whining for demon companion for long (especially Desier Demon, but we can't have everything can we?), so Bioware is complaing.

I would argue that Cole is a spirit and not a demon at all.

Actually, spirits and demons are the same things to some extent. Just seems to depend on their level of malevolence. Lambert declared Cole a demon, and Rhys concluded that he was too. But I can see him being a more "spirit"-like creature as well. Again, very gray with Cole.

Spoilers!!!

Well me personaly I see Cole as like a spirit of compashion or what not. Since it seems the spirit came to the real Cole as he sat terified and forgoten in his cell. The spirit came to try and comfert him and when he died the spirit was stuck in the real world and forgot what it was and only had Coles memories to draw from. So it was twisted and confused. Then at the end of the book it remembers what it is and what the Templars did to the real Cole and is out for Vengance. At least that is how I see the progreshion of the character.

PS sorry about horrid spelling. I am on my phone at work so typing this quick lol.

Cole could play a role in the story, but I certainly wouldnt want him on my team, he's a murderer and a whiny, pathetic one at that. Obviously the fact that he's a spirit (or probably more accurately, a demon) would certainly make him one of the more unusual teammates, and maybe for that reason he would fill the role of the 'evil teammate' that some folks have been asking for (and reasonably so I suppose, since if you want to play as an evil character, it stands to reason you'd want an evil teammate also), but I'd much rather have him be some kind of boss fight in the early part of the game, than a teammate myself.

I wonder what a romance with Cole would be like. I imagine it would be like the Thedas version of dating the Overly Attached Girlfriend.

I don't know much about this Cole character, but I would rather not have these silly spirit characters as companions.
