I only stated that I have an aversion to noobs that call other noobs out for being noobs while they themselves have to be carried. That, and I find this whole scenario hilarious and would like to see how it all plays out.
Who knows, this guy might be better than all of us.... but I doubt it.
+1 to this
except i'd replace noobs with players calling out other players in general regardless of their skill.
Would you been calling out Ashen Earth too, then?

There is a distinct difference between a player who is actually good at the game, and who doesn't like having to carry a terrible team putting a kickvote on the N7 20 soldier with an Avenger V, and some guy using a level 8 vanguard with a Typhoon/Javelin putting a kickvote on our hypothetical level 20 soldier with the Avenger, in a Gold/Platinum lobby imo.
In either case I don't think a "go back to bronze noob" message is justified especially if our hypothetical random that had to carry in example one had previously gotten a message thanking him for saving the game, but the irony in the second example is just too much.
Or maybe it's just me.

yes it is funny to see bad layouts kick other bad layouts. people's self awereness sometime sis surely lacking.
I know youre doing it for the laughs but the thing is my friends know how to play the game, have good layouts, and good weapons unlocked. they started with 3 people hoping a 4th would jump in instead the 3rd guy left early in teh game so they were 2-waying a gold. by the time the other guy got in they were low on equiment already and struggling. I never said they were elite but they sure as hell don't belong on bronze. and this guy took his half game of example to poke fun at them. tahts what gets on my nerves

Maybe if I made a habit of sending "lrn2play" messages to people I carry on XBL this would be valid, but I don't.
Almost everything I say that could be considered inflammatory in regards to player skill is a direct response to something someone else said directly to me first, or something that is just to mindnumbingly stupid to ignore.

Say the OP and friend hammer this guy. The ultimate insult would be telling him 'Nice job, you're pretty good'. He sees the scores and wonders what's going on. Are they just being nice?
Say the OP and friend are on par with this guy. Then I agree they should have just ignored him. They won't be able to get the gratification they want.

2 friends were treated very badly by some random person on the internet so you are going to get a gang of very good players to enact revenge on behalf of your friends, no?
Why isn't it you and those two friends of yours playing? Or more to the point... Why aren't those two friends of yours doing it themselves without help? You believe they are good enough, no? Do they? Did they ask you to do this?
... if, in your msg to him, you don't link it to the previous game of your friends, you teach this guy nothing, except that sending rude msgs on XBOX is common.
If, in your msg to him, you do link it to the previous game of your friends, you basically say "Yip, you are better than they are and they're too scared to come play with you again"... and that happens whether you win or lose, no?
Considering the whole thing is about a single ePeen incident, how exactly are you helping your friends?
Have fun
hopefully it teaches the guy not to be a jerk. that you don't have to call people noobs who should go back to bronze becuase you beat them in one game. he obviously thinks of himself as a good player so it'll be a relaity check for him. If not oh well at least his ego takes a little hit
I don't see how? If you are doing it in your friends' names, you demean them yourself, because it shows they are too scared to fight their own ePeen war. If you just act the same as him, with no reference to your friends, telling him to go back to bronze, you are also some random idiot on the internet, no?
You're friends think of themselves as good players, no? And they knew/said they were having a bad day. All this guy will do is say "oh well, bad day against a team who play together a lot." , no? ..and using GI with prianhas just gives him more excuses if that will be the plan. Bat sentinal with avengers and maybe you start to prove something, no?
For your interest I did have a couple of afterthoughts on my original post:
If this guy is now harrassing your friends, persecute the f*c**r. But do it properly. get everyone to block him, bad rep him, play with him, report him, make his life hell. And make sure he knows why.
If it's a single incident of ePeen?
I have very much appreciated the times my male friends have stepped in and supported me when I was getting harrassed for my gender, but when some random idiot on the internet calls me a whatever, I don't ask them to go verbally abuse him.
..andseriously... until you're getting msgs like this ( I can't image link it due to BSN rules, but I think/hope I can normally link it),.... NSFW or children!!

I kid, I kid. I can't hold too much against you. You're the one that told me that the Paladin's ice shield can actually freeze a phantom. That information got me shanked a couple of times before I realized I suck with the Paladin, but the point is, I learned something. You actually give people info. Most folks just say "use this build," hand you a Claymore, and tell you to aim for the face.Ashen Earth wrote...

It wasn't to me, merely an example of what women get. It's a whole site devoted to the verbal/written abuse women get from male gamers simply for being female.

To be fair, the one time I played with Ashen, he dropped out on the third match because of some horrible lag induced glitches (all invisible enemies), but sent a nice message apologizing for having to bail on the game. That's the only time I've ever had someone message me when they had to dc mid-match. I'd be a little surprised to see a guy who does that also drop "lrn2play" messages.
And he was outscoring all of us.

So my friend tells me last night that him and another friend were having a bad game and struggling through a gold (they had 3 to start but someone dropped out so it was just the 2 of them) and a random came in mid game and basically saved them and carried them to victory. My friends in this game are actually good players though, just having a bad game. So said random carries them to victory. My friend sends him a message saying thanks and that he was awesome. The random replies back with go back to bronze where you noobs belong. So is it wrong to invite said random into a game with me and 2 really good friends, blow him out of the water and send the same message back to him? I mean it was completly uncalled for to do something like that. he coulda just said thanks or not even replied. Eliteist attitudes like that really get on my nerves sometimes. I've been dropped into games before and carried people to victory and never pulled a d*** move like that. whats your guys thoughts? good idea or wrong?
YES! Make the whole world blind!

I would gladly take verbal abuse from female gamers if it meant I would have my own private army of white knights to defend me regardless of the situation at hand 9 times out of 10 simply for being male.
Not really, but my point is that that particular phenomenon goes both ways.
