Or Shepard waking up in a hospital, all bandaged up and tubes sticking out of him, hooked up to monitoring equipment. He looks over, and there's a smiling Ash, who takes Shep's hand and says "You got it done, Skipper. Welcome home"
After everything Shepard saw, heard, and did in those final moments of the game, I really needed a brighter future for Shep than a pile of rocks and one breath...
Something like this... so, so much. So much it makes me wanna cry for not having it.

I'm not sure how to have my Shep reunite with Tali, but in due time, I'll think of something.

I picked destroy. The force from the blast knocked Shepard back and surrounded him with rubble.
With the link between the Catalyst and the Citadel destroyed, the Keepers were now free of its programming, revealing themselves to be sentient and aware of everything that occured in the million+ years they've been in service to the Citadel, including Shepard.
The Keepers found Shepard's amidst the rubble. Miraculously, he was still alive (barely). They brought him into the core and repaired him out of gratitude and admiration. They replaced his damaged cybernetics with advanced technology, healed his wounds, and revived him.
The Normandy returned to the Citadel, where Asley Williams reunited with John Shepard on the Citadel Presidium.
Some time later, a victory ceremony was held at the ruins of the Alliance Parliament on Earth, hosted by Kahlee Sanders, the human councilor of the reformed Citadel Council. Admiral Hackett was there, too. Speeches and thanks were given, medals were awarded, and there were fireworks. Lots of fireworks.
Almost a year later, John Shepard married Ashley Williams. The Alliance awarded Shepard a large parcel of fertile land on Elysium where Shepard built his own estate, complete with a farm (like the one his Dad helped to manage back on Mindoir). John and Ashley had three children: Kaidan, Emily, and David.
Anyway, that's the epilogue my mind formed and I am quite satisfied with it...

Unless I've missed something, a reunion is possible and even hinted at if you picked Destroy ending. In any case, here's my support. While I accept the darker endings and appreciate them, it's not childish to want a happy ending, or at least the option for it. It's a very basic request to end a story in which some players have invested so much with a smile and a happy tear.
I'd barely call it a hint. More like an easter egg. Shepard alone, wounded, buried in rubble in an unknown section of the Citadel is hardly cause for encouragement.
Now if EC expanded on that scene like they showed the Normandy taking off from the planet: a rescue team, SHepard regaining conciousness and standing up, or waking up in a hospital, those are all far more encouraging.
The secret to appealing to a broader audience is having a broad set of outcomes. I wish Bioware realized this.

Another bump of support. Even with the EC, the endings are ambiguous enought that really, almost anything can happen.

I feel the same. The only reason I hate the ending is because of the lack of reunion. I don't mind that we have three options to choose from, I don't care about the crusible or the starbrat or any other more or less logical oddness. All I care about is that Shep gets what she/he rightfully deserves.

Shepard's crew stood still holding there right hands above there brow, waiting apon Kaidan's arrival, Tali gripped onto Gaurrs's hand as she saw shepards name glimmier slightly in the dim light.
Dr chakwas sighed placing her hand on to jokers shoulder trying to keep him aloft, James stood by the elevator holding back is manly tears, Kaidan gave a look of contentment to see his friends by the memorial wall, but also grief because he had lost more in one night than he could possibly imagen.
The Robotic hound that followed Shepard loyaly around the ship, held her plaque between his teeth, the lights on his tail flashed twice before he realsed it to Kaidan, "Good dog," Kaidan patted the dog on it's head before turning to the memorial wall, Liara steped forwad trying to confort Kaidan, giving him the little support that she could muster.
Kaidan sighed as the others watched him, he felt out of breath he wanted it to be just a dream, because having shepard back only to be taken away again..where the hel was the justice in that?.
before he placed the pllaque on the memorial wall he utterd Shepards name, with a tear in his eye he held the plaque up, he held it high so all could see shepards name, it glitterd and shined just like her smile, as he placed shepards name finally beside Andersons, a stutter in the communications interupted the moment, "Normandy..this is Admiral Hackett, we have recoverd shepards body and taking her to Earth,"...
then the slide shows of the Normandy docking at the Aliance HQ to be greated by Capitan shepard in a wheel chair recovering.
then a ceremoney at London for all of those that lost there lives during the reaper war.
then the normal slides of the Krogan and the others..
following with Kaidan and shepard getting married with the Normandy crew in the background.
then credits.

Isn't he shown among the rubble on EARTH, not on the citadel?
It'd be pretty easy for medical teams to scan the area, find him, and heal him.
I mean seriously, he was revived from worse before...
Anyway, I think my Shepard would be reunited with all of his friends, romance and meld with Liara and eventually have human children.
Those children would survive and the Shepard dynasty would live on.
Liara probobly lives for a while and is happy that Shepard's legacy lives on.
A secretive human organisation somehow manages to steal a copy of Shepard's DNA and they keep it secret, just in case the world once again becomes lost in fire and the master needs to be reborn.
(Yes I fully admit this continuation is inspired by Dune, lol.)

How does he wind up on earth? IT or lapse in writing logic? I can't deny it looks much more like an earth environment.
