If I talked all the time about Pokemon and going to tournaments and even dressed up as Pikachu for Halloween, you should probably reach the conclusion that I'll be upset if you burn all my Pokemon cards.

Anyways, being Dalish and anti-The Man doesn't mean you'll automatically jump into bed with a bunch of insane dragon cultists who have spent the past few hours trying to murder you. You don't really hurt the Chantry by destroying the Ashes, because no one believes they even exist. What you do is help a bunch of crazy people in their plans to unleash a high dragon on Ferelden so it can munch on humans and elves alike.

No one is expecting Leliana not to be upset but trying to kill you is pretty much the most extreme reaction there is. While I applaud Sten for trying when you set out to retrieve the ashes I just don't see the merits of Leliana's attack. It serves no purpose and I view it as an emotional irresponsible fit of rage and her more sober reaction, leaving, if told in camp supports this view. If killing you was somehow a just response to pouring blood in the ashes why doesn't she challenge you to a duel or something if told in camp?

It should be noted that you can kill the cultists and their dragon after siding with them (presumably) to get the powerful Reaver specialization.

It has to do with the religious organization; Merrill is religious, too, and she's awesome. The Andrastian Chantry is a vile organization that marched on the Dales and commits slavery against mages. I hated the developers forcing Hawke to be religiously Andrastian, and I can see people hating Leliana for supporting this organization if they find it repellant. I think (for some) it also has to do with her depiction in "Faith" as an anti-mage, incompetent agent of the Divine.

I never understood why people keep labelling her as anti-mage during the Faith cameo. She was just warning that if the mages rebelled aganist the Templar it would cause an Exalted March. Was the statement delivered poorly? Yes. Does it mean she's anti-mage? No. If she started ranting how all mages are abominations in the eyes of the Maker and should be exterminated, then yes you can label her as such.

Leliana has an extremely different view on worshiping the Maker. In her eyes,  the maker loves everyone and still watches over them. She even seems to be on friendly terms with....

1. Wynne, a mage.

2. The Warden, a possible mage and lover.

3.Sten, a Qunari.

Even in that book David Gaider wrote that prequels Dragon Age 3, she helps the mages fight against the templar. It would make no sense for Leliana to fight against the mage unless they were with the Tevinter or crazed blood mages.

The reaction was to how Leliana came across in "Faith," which was in sharp contrast to how she was in Origins. The fact she didn't do her job and seemed to have no problem with an entire city of people getting killed if mages emancipated themselves (the kind of people who Leliana says were 'tolerated') is why some people wanted to see Sister Nightingale killed.

I think the ashes are the most holy object in their religion. If you destroy the Holy Grail some people will be upset. I guess it depends on how religious you are.

Faith is mostly Leliana conveying to a party of strangers the position of her superiors. If she has doubts about their policies and possible response to an eventuality she doesn't have any particular reason to share them with Hawke. She'd be better of sharing them with the Divine and trying to convince her which she has a better chance of doing if she continues to serve as an efficient Seeker.

The only difference I saw in her was that she seemed a bit more serious than her Origins counterpart. Which makes perfect sense since Leliana has aged quite a bit since the first Dragon Age. As I've stated I didn't see any signs that she was anti-mage nor support destroying Kirkwall in her Faith cameo. All she did was simply warn Hawke that the Divine would order an Exalted March on Kirkwall if the Mages had rebelled. The whole "Kirkwall must not fall to magic" comment was just a foreshadowing that this event could cause a civil war, imo.

The entire Exiled Prince DLC is borked in that regard, mostly with Hawke being forced to be pro-Chantry in some manner for basically every conversation in it. Leliana's the least of the problems there, and she's back to her Origins self in Asunder anyway.

She was probably my favourite companion from any of the games to date. Oghren and Nathaniel were pretty cool as well.

I don't understand what you mean when you say she didn't do her job. She was there to investigate the situation and gauge whether intervention was necessary to prevent maleficarum from taking over the city. If Kirkwall was conquered by a group of evil blood mages consorting with demons, that would be bad for everyone.

Well, assuming that her job involves dealing with templar corruption, yes. However, it probably doesn't, unless said corruption is mage-sympathetic. So never mind.

I've never romanced anyone else in DA:O. She my (Warden's) girl.
I'm less decisive on DA2 romances for some reason :/
