Subtitled: Console Rangers Got no.....Soul
See - (http://social.biowar.../9/index/311128) for background
Now Keep in mind that this game is supposed to allow for TACTICAL planing.
So are the pets completely useless (on consoles)? My Bear sits there and looks stupid, while I get my arse handed to me. The wolf lets all matter of baddies walk right by him and does not attack them until he get hit. Was the game designed this way. Please say this is a technical problem. Otherwise the rangers description should be changed to "pacifies animals so that they will never hurt another living thing".
As this is a bioware game, I expect to have to resummon my pet as I walk though every door, but the inability to tell the animal to "go there" or "attack" seems pointless and is a specialization killer IMO

they work fine if you let them move. if you put your crew on hold, the pet will hold also and only attack enemies close to it, if you let them run ,they are very usefull. i really like the spider

Lelianna's pets work fine for me (when I make her a Ranger). However, as was noted, if you put the party on Hold Position, the pet also holds. The pet follows its summoner, including movement and defense tactics, if applicable.

it seems that the pet will only attack it the ranger uses a attack....will not attack if you start the fight out with a ability. so if you start out with dual weapon strike. reposite, then whirlwind, then just do a attack the pet will sit there until you default attack

That sure doesn't seem right. I never had any problem with my creatures not attacking, even though I was using an ability. However, I tend to go around issuing orders to everyone, and releasing it to let them do them...and that means my char also does things that I didn't program it to do, like default attacks, I suppose.
But I did not notice this behavior.

Szathmab,
I think you may be on to something. When I leave the main char alone (switch control to another party member) the pet seems to do a decent job. I also added the summon directly to the main char's tactics.
So, I guess you could say that I am a bit more satisfied with the animals' responses, but I would still like the ability to tell my pet to follow me (for scouting missions and what not), while the rest of the party stays put. I would also like to be able to tell it to attack my target as opposed to choosing, seemingly, random targets.
Does anyone know if this is, indeed, a technical issue, or if the xbox just got the short end of the stick for pet control?
