 I have seen some people capture segments of their gameplay on video on upload it to youtube.  What is a good freeware program for that?  Thank you for your time.

I know FRAPS and XFire have video capture capability. The free version of FRAPS lets you capture I think 30 seconds at a time. XFire has no limit but you have to register and such, though I think it is still free.
