The last ten minutes ...

This.

Its honestly impressive how much the last 10 minutes of a 100+ hour story can sour the whole thing.

Not enough dialogue options and in turn not enough diversity while replaying. Also Paragon and Renegade give one reply then the next reply is the same no matter which you picked.

To me, more than the ending itself, is the fact that you can not win or lose the game. In the end the game snatches off you all that illusion of choice you ever had and funnels it down a same filter that comes in three colors.

That's the greatest flaw that a RPG can commit, and unfortuantely, Mass Effect is not the first or the last game that is painfully filled with sin in this aspect. Perhaps Mass Effect is one of the most hurtful settings to hit that wall with, since so many of us invested ourselves so deeply, and learned to love its universe and the characters in it, though. It's as if I created my PnP character, played through several campaigns spanning five years and just when my character reaches her peak saving the world from a disgrace, the Dungeon Master says "Your character dies. There is no saving throw, or anything you could've done to avoid it. It just is. Deal with it."

I suppose the lack of ME2 characters/LI (namely Miranda :-P)

When I first started playing ME2 I was like, ah man I miss Wrex, Ashley, and Liara accompanying me on my journey, but then when I got to ME3 I was like, ah man I miss everyone from ME2 and could care less about the ME 1 squad. So the ME2 cast takes priority for me these days. They did such a good job introducing them and giving them some of the best character development in a game then gave them the shaft more or less for 3. Le sigh.

I would say everything after we walk into TIM's room. It starts with him not being there.

Multiple paths to solving a problem. In ME2 and ME3, not matter what, the you have to do the exact same actions, and conversations along the way give those actions context. They need more scenarios like Noveria where there are divergent paths to achieve the one goal.

Motives of reapers/starkid foreshadowed more.In ME1 reapers speech 'makes sense'. but we need to be reminded, in the moment.

(2. Crucible totally overshadowed at the beginning by TIM and scene. Impersonal and didn't seem plausible, until Thessia, we couldn't 'visit' the crucible.
3. Ending where we didn't see the races/crew fighting together. Perfect opportunity to count readiness and decisions.)

1. The endings still aren't up to par.
2. How unfinished the game feels. I've played the game five times from start to finish, and the more I play, the more I think more was supposed to be put in...or a lot was taken out.

If I could sum up in one feeling about ME3 - that would be close to it.

ME3 feels like it underwent a lot of ideas and revisions through its development - and in doing so - kind of lost track of where it was coming from.

Is this a trick question?

The ending, of course, it throws the plot on it's head and it's resolution nullifies most of the player's previous accomplishments.

Too much talk, not much adventure or fighting or new beautiful places.
I like the citadel but it is just some room and too much revisit.

While i would like to say the ending, which is horrible in so many ways, i would say the emphasis on combat at the cost of roleplaying is the biggest flaw. In my opinion it has more in common with Gears of War than Mass Effect.

Biggest? Oh there are so many.. besides all of the endings, none of which make any sense:

Kai Leng's plot armor comes to mind. Yes Shepard, just have your squad stand there, guns drawn, while your terminally ill drell buddy fights Kai Leng by himself.
Then there's every single time you pull out a gun that you don't actually have, usually so that you can shoot something and have it be totally ineffective.
The incredibly annoying announcer in multiplayer..
A lot of the weapon mods look stupid, either on certain weapons or always, making me choose between performance and looks.
Fetch missions that can't be completed until you progress further in the story, because you can't access that system yet or w/e.

The quest log not updating when you complete certain steps of it. First time I played it, I had no idea what I'd already accomplished because I'd forgotten and the quest log didn't record anything...

Mine would have to either be auto-dialogue or lack luster side missions.

The saving the universe thing... I wanted to destroy it... with no survivors... not even in the epilogue...
