What exactly is wrong with Day 1 DLC?

I'll never be able to tell without uninstalling From Ashes, but I'm pretty sure that if you don't it, you don't get a Prothean squadmate. Seems pretty straight forward to me. Therefore, even though there are plot hooks, and placeholders for dialog, such as Liara's confrontation with Javik after Thessia, if you don't have it, it doesn't trigger, and therefore, it's not available. Having the material there, since there are limits in some platforms about dl size of DLC(so I've heard anyway)isn't lying, it's paving the way for anyone to get the content. So being ready to throw the non-CE players a bone with CE content is misleading. Got it, so, I stand by my point, the simplest option is to simply not offer CE content as DLC for everyone, and let the ragers rage.corkey sweet wrote...

That is exactly my point. If you want CE material, you should have to buy the CE, not get a bone, and then an excuse to complain about it, or throw out accusations of lying. From Ashes was CE material, if you bought CE, you didn't have to buy it, as you got it with your copy, on Day 1. This should have been the only way it was available.I am disappoint wrote...
DLC should never be in the collectors edition.
there was a statement from bioware saying nothing was on the disc. turned out to be false, that (to me) is lying

Stop kidding yourself and wake up.....Bioware has given a character away in every game,to encourage sales......until mass3 came along......then they charge for it.
With Mass Effect 3 they gave us multiplayer instead. The point of the free character was to push their online pass system. With Mass Effect 3 the multiplayer system accomplished this. For me, I prefer multiplayer to Zaeed anyway.
Why not both?

Where did they actually deny Javik being on disc?
its floating around the internet, but i think it was part of the video where the guy hacked the disc and found Javik
I've done some searching, but haven't found it. I'd apreciate a link, if anyone can provide it.

If you were lookiing for the truth then you would know on the PC version of ME3 is that Javik is only selectable and his mission doesn't appear. Again a similar scenario happened with Zeead and Kasumi because they were also on dsc chracters.corkey sweet wrote...
your truth is nothing but lies, Javik is on the disc (proven fact) to sit there and pretend Bioware didn't Misslead people is pretty foolish

i don't think we are on the same page here. i know only Javik and his squad banter where all that was on the disc. Eden Prime and the dialogue is what you got in the from ashes download. my point is that they prentended all this stuff was done post production and it wasn't. if it was, Javik wouldn't be on the disc at all

From Ashes was unfinished content that was turned into DLC just like Kasumi's Stolen Memory.corkey sweet wrote...

That link doesn't help.
I'm not asking for evidence the Javik charcter is on the disk. I'm asking for a link where EA/Bioware denied that there's any Javik/coding/game assets, etc on the disk.
the statement about how from ashes was made at a latter date is the lie, if it where the truth, Javik would not be on the disc

How is that since Bioware was finished with ME3 in January while I'm surprised that you're not up in arms with Kasumi from ME2 or Warden's Keep in DA.corkey sweet wrote...

From Ashes was a nice add-on so I guess it depends on on the individual.

The whole concept of Day One DLC is, by ALL accounts, a blatant RIPOFF/SCAM!!
To think some idiot conceived this process, and can actually still sleep at night, is unconscionable!

this was only addressed after the accusations, and their original statement that said from ashes was completed at a later date and wasn't on the disc. the disc was hacked, Javik was found. Then the story changed

They also explained that dertification for MS/Sony takes time. They make the game, then the dlc, then the game goes gold.
Earlier you stated that they denied any Javik materials were on the disk. Now it's about the time frame that the dlc was developed. Which is it?
Javik and from Ashes are one in the same. saying From Ashes isn't on the disc, is the same as saying Javik isn't on the disc. Same exact thing in my book. Only Javik is on the disc, and is part of from ashes. So in fact, parts of from ashes are on the disc. which contradicts thier statements

Nothing is strictly wrong with Day 1 DLC as a concept, I'd prefer it if the dev wasn't trying to bilk more money out of me before I've opened the box, but that's beside the point.
Where things start to get murky and unethical is when they deliberately slash out content, which is already stored on the disc, and or feature complete before launch, in order to produce this day 1 DLC.
I dont think Day 1 DLC is bad just this one shouldve been incentive to buy the game new because of how much it changes the story than they could make dlc that goes with it since anyone who brought the game new would have the dlc. I dont mine DLC thats buy new incentive and thats why I believe this shouldve been a buy ME3 new incentive dlc.

From Ashes isn't a scam just like Kasumi's Stolen Memory in ME2, the gun skins for Gears 3, or the extra cases in LA Niore.ohupthis wrote...

Thats like saying Kasumi and Kasumi's Stolen Memory are the same. Place holders were used as character files while the rest of the DLC wasn't on the disc.corkey sweet wrote...
