I just heard. Bioware will sell additional conversation options as preorder DLC's!
So awesome! :wizard:
But if you want all the conversation options you have to buy the game from five different stores.

Being funny all the time isn't very realistic. Yes, I pulled out the realistic card. You don't have to funny all the time. You can switch it up with other things.

They didn't use Charming very much and when they did I didn't like it. Wouldn't you like to see it replaced?

That was the purple option I used most, so no I wouldn't want to see it replaced. I liked the personality concept, but you can certainly have the addition of a neutral option if the situation calls for it.

No, no, no.

I was severely limited by the lack of a neutral option.

That doesn't sound very neutral ;)

I believe cJohnOne means that it, dare I say it, breaks his immersion, and the character's verisimilitude. Hawke's meant to be someone we can roleplay, and it just seems insane that they can have some sh!tty joke for every single situation.

As an example to illustrate, the Viscount's son dying. Sure Hawke, you're hilarious cracking jokes about a father's dead son, because normal people do that right?

Oh, realism helps make the game world come alive!    Do you agree?

That really irritated me as well;  my character might be flippant in conversation most of the time, but at that point it seemed really inappropriate.  They really needed to give you a choice of lines.

I'm pretty sure there was a choice there.

I just played that part of the game a few days ago and I'm absolutely certain that you don't get to choose your character's dialogue.   Once you make the choice to kill the guy, then your character says a line of dialogue.  I'm assuming that the line is chosen for you based on your most frequent dialogue response.

That's just the point. It was horrifically inappropriate. Sarcastic Hawke tries to joke everything off, no exceptions. Try the Sad Clown page on tvtropes, it'll explain it better than I ever would.

There are usually 3 choices and on the Viscount Son's death there are 3 choices.

What people are getting confused is that on DA you don't have "paragon" and "rebel" scores, you can chose from different categories all the time. I don't believe DA2 dialog is made for people to ONLY chose top / paragon or middle / sarcastic or bottom / direct. All that matters is where the majority of your choices fall.

This isn't Mass Effect people. By all means, don't make jokes with the Viscount's son and with the poor women murdered by Quentin !

No, no, no!

You are confusing games. The dialog wheel on ME has to be chosen for every conversation, but on DA you get no benefit from having "100 paragon points" as opposed to "60 paragon points". The game is made for you to have "choice" on your answers.

You do NOT have to always pick the middle one, all you have to do is  have a preference that dominates among the others.

Ha, you are right - I was thinking of the magistrate's son, should have thought a bit more before posting (I should sneakily go back and edit my original post so that it looks like I hadn't made a mistake j/k).

However, my point is still valid, on that occasion you are forced into a tone that may be inappropriate, and it would have been a better idea to give you a choice of dialogues.  Admittedly, that is a slightly different topic than whether or not there should be a neutral tone.

Diplomatic should be the neutral option. It should the option when you try to bridge two side together with, um diplomancy. Or the tactful option. But far too often it was the i agree with x option. If they're going with the wheel (i still hope they change this in one of the sequels), it should be: 1) Pro, 2) Diplomatic, 3) Against, 4) Humorous/ Sarcasm. But it is what it is.

I think Neutral option is a good choice for the serious role player.

What does that make the other choices?  Fun instead of serious?
