Just a few thoughts I had. I liked having descriptions for every item in Origins; I thought it added... flavor, polish, that sort of thing (not quite sure how to describe it). Sure, DA2 had a few item descriptions that went in the Codex, but most of the items were sort of generic without them.

The 'junk' items in DA2 seem almost too junky to me. In Act 1, I suppose it kind of makes sense that refugees from Ferelden are essentially finding stuff they scraped from the trash, but picking up a filthy scarf after you own a mansion in Hightown seems a bit strange. Plus, without any flavor text to accompany them, I just find them kind of dull and a waste of inventory space until I go by and sell them. There's also a few items in the game (like that Dalish book) that seem like actual important and interesting things that one might want to keep, and it doesn't seem right to have them automatically lumped in with broken pins.

My suggestion would be that there could be just small amounts of money instead of the non-important or dull items, and some proper descriptions for the more interesting ones.

I was quite astonished at the value of Stale Biscuits from Legacy. Apparently Kirkwallers really love their biscuits.

I appreciated seeing junk items. It doesn't seem feasible to me that every barrel or corpse rummaged through and looted in a game would always yield valuable merchandise, such as armor, weapons and the like. It made sense to have those quasi-Charlie Brown "I got a rock" moments. And of course, the type of junk would prompt imaginative wanderings on my part...why is there a old doll here? was a child lost nearby? why are there so many raven feathers? has Flemeth been wandering through town??

That said, of course it would be nice to see a little more meat and detail to the junk - have it area-specific, or related to the culture and lore, and yes, perhaps not so easy to turn around for coin.

I suspect that the biscuits were famous once. Part of a nice gift tin sold by a famous dwarven bakery for generations. But when war (and eerie goings-on in Kirkwall) ravaged the land, the bakery was lost. Yet the memory of those tasty, savory biscuits lived on in the palate-memories of the citizenry, so much so that yes, they would pay a hefty coin for even a stale treat. Nothing that a little mage fire (microwave-of-Thedas) and a dunk in a cup of tea couldn't fix.

Here you go. :)

I love item descriptions so much, from the old Bio-games and IceWind Dale etc, that I wrote them for DA2. Only took 23 thousand and something words.

Junk was, by far, my favourite category. :D

I agree.

I was so disappointed to find most shiny chests filled with a rusty spoon, moth ridden scarf or yet the 100th torn trousers. Posted Image

Man......I freaking HATED junk items. If you get one occasionally I could deal with it. But every single chest.....really? So......annoying.

I didn't spot the Rod of Fire Request Form on either of my playthroughs so far. (Or maybe I did on my first playthrough; I hadn't done a mage in DA:O yet, so I wouldn't have noticed it.) I like that one.

I think item descriptions definitely need to return. They added much needed flavour and background to items, and some items I used specifically due to the description even though there was better equipment available. (Using the Keening Blade throughout Awakening for example)

Unique naming needs to return; having generic unstatted gold and silver rings etc is fine, but the actual equipment needs a unique name. Woop de woop, I found another greater ring of blah de blah.

And also, the 5 star rating system needs to go away. Although it gives rough ballpark figures for how powerful your gear is relevant to your level, it often gives ridiculous ratings. High +Attack and +Defense buffs often received 5 star ratings, yet the +5% critical chance ring is far more effective yet received only 3 stars. Do away with the ratings or fix them.

I did not bother in the end to look at items at all...all that meaningless crap that had nothing to add except fill up my inventory Posted Image

Ah the junk items. How I loathe them .Picture this: Champion of Kirkwall dumbster diving for moldy dolls, pulling torn trousers off a dead corpse. How "championic" is that?!

I recall reading that the star system doesn't measure accessories, and just goes by how recently you got them, which seems pretty worthless to me. With the large pile of accessories you're always finding in DA2, you almost need something to sort through them, but that really isn't it.
