What is Tali's appeal?

That's why I chose Jack, you gotta actually talk with her and turn down her casual sex just to get to the LI portion.

Tali would fall into the former, same as Jack. Her character (sweet, funny, smart, "dem hips" I guess) is overall likeable, whether as a "little sister" character or a strong, loyal ally. I like to see her end up with Shepard because she's just so over the moon about it. She genuinely appreciates being with Shepard, someone she admires, respects and is attracted to. Tali represents sort of an ultimate fulfillment for a Shepard in the "damsel in distress" sense, as does Jack and Liara (though I consider Liara sort of inbetween my two categories).
Ashley and Miranda are strong and independent, and their character growth can occur separate from Shepard's. I perceive them as equals to him. They don't NEED him per se, but they are nice complements to one another. They play a little harder to get and are not as open about their feelings until they are truly won over, but then they are fiercely loyal forever.
My two cents. Neither are "better" than the other in my mind. It just depends on what sort of mood I'm in. Sometimes it's just fantastic to see Tali and Shepard being cozy and safe together, and sometimes it's fun to see Ashley and Shepard snark and shoot together.

She's a comfortable person to be around. Has a decent sense of humor, doesn't question your every move, speaks her mind but isn't closed off to other possibilities (Geth in Me3) has a bit of mystery behind her since you can't see her face, and is someone who cares for you passionately.
Plus..."I have a home" ouch...right in the feels....
Main reason I didn't romance her very much was because she feels more like a little sister than a love interest considering her past with Shepard.
...and Garrus was like my brother...so that would mean my little sister and brother hooked up...hmm

I kid, she just seems like a common geeky type/cute chick and I can see the appeal, but ever since ME1, I've always RP my Shepard as seeing her as a sister, compared to "We'll bang, okay?"

"I just imported Tali's romance a few weeks ago. Made some posts on here, but I have no idea where they are now.
I noted that you guys would have to make room for a new Talimancer as I was so impressed by her romance in ME 3.
Liara
was my former canon, and I still like her and Ash, as well. So please
don't take these comments as dissing either of them. I've replayed my
Ash and Liara romances more than Tali, as I waited till last for her
because I was disappointed in how late she joins Shep in the game.
But,
Liara was constantly friend-zoning you, even with the LotSB DLC played.
Whereas Ash basically calls you a traitor and a husk of all things,
then points a gun at you.
Tali, from the very first meeting in
ME 3 acknowledges your romance and makes it clear she wants to go
forward with it. No friend-zoning from Tali at all, and no accusations,
though she had more reasons to despise Cerberus than most.
Absolutely
loved her comments to your ME 1 LI, if you had one, on the dreadnought
mission. And she seemed, to me, to have far more flirting with Shep
during many missions then the others.
So, I think Tali comes out on top in the LI tree, overall. Just the "sex" scene itself was lacking.
Also, I'm one of the few who really liked the pic of her they used. Just wish they had, or would, render it ingame."
TLDR: Tali Rocks!

One of the main reasons is simply Tali's personality; she is smart, kind, and naturally selfless person, willing to do whatever she can to help her people, her friends, and those she loves. While she can be adorably shy and awkward at times, she can also be feisty and confident when she needs to, whether is be defending herself in combat or holding in her own in trading snarly remarks with Garrus.
But for all her strengths she also as flaws. There is her racism and hatrid towards geth and AI, and her own sometimes low feelings of self worth. These flaws form a balance with the strenghts, showing that she is not perfect, and sees a lot of growth as she learns to overcome these flaws and become a better person.
But most of all, out of any Love Interest, I feel that Tali deserves the most to be with Shepard. How much she sincerely cares about Shepard. When Shepard expresses interest in pursuing a relationship with her Tali's first concern is not for her own safety, but for Shepard's well being and happiness: wanting whats best for him, even if that means he ends up with someone else. Once its clear that Shepard wants to be with her, Tali is willing to risk her own safety, perhaps even her own life, if it means being with him. Her love for him is show her willingness to do whatever she can to help him even when it means joining Shepard over her loyalty to her own people. Like Garrus, Tali stood by Shepard when no one else would, believed in him when no one else did. Even after getting what she has always dreamed... her people returned to their homeworld and a chance to build a home their; she is willing to leave that all behind to be with Shepard.
I hope that helped clear things up. I could keep going on all day about why i love Tali (like how she is very well written, to the extreem variance of how happy or sad her story can turn out, to the great voice acting, etc) but I will stop there to avoid annoying you with my incessant fanboyism

You should try asking there, most of us are fairly nice. Heck, we managed to get along with the Mirandamancers when they invaded the Tali Thread for a couple pages about a week ago.

My personal opinion is that Tali fans like her for her growth from 'Overtly pure adolescent' into 'Debutante'. Liara is a stalker, Ashley is a 'witch', Miranda looks like a skank, Jack is 'damaged goods', etc etc etc. Tali is the innocent one. I may be over-simplifying the stereotypes however.JusticarFlareon wrote...
This is a serious question do please no flaming. :innocent: Anyway, I've (obviously) noticed that Tali has a HUGE amount of people supporting her and her romance. I like Tali, I really do but not as a romance. What is it that her fans find so irresistible?
Above statements are typed with tongue firmly in cheek. I think those labels are ridiculous.

I like women with some muscle and who fight well and are also sensitive to a point. Like Liara and the new ME3 Jack (She went from 6/10 to 8/10 in ME3) Liked her personality and humour, and that she got hair on her head >_>

She's a great character with a nice voice. But what really made me want to get with her when I first played ME was the mystery of her character. Not knowing what was behind the mask and stuff. But I think what made me REALLY want to get with her in ME2 was because I coulnd't in ME1.JusticarFlareon wrote...

But after I romanced her the curiosity and appeal soon wore off. I look at her differently now. More like a like a little sister and less like a potential love interest. Plus, I'm more into the humans. Call me boring.

I guess people find walking encyclopedias attractive.
I can see that argument applying to her ME1 character arc, depending on whether you've exhausted all her dialogue or not. In ME2 she develops considerably, and we are exposed ti her imperfections as well as the potential for romance. ME3 culminates in her maturing and overcoming those predjudices, and vitiates any aspersions about the nature of Shep and Tali's relationship.
It's fairly good stuff.

Oops? What, you accidently cheated on her? That's not an oops, breaking a glass is an oops, infidelity is something you have to work on - at least a bit.
