Actions speak louder than words. In this case, silence is the action.

They had that "interview" with Merizan, who did nothing but lob softballs at them. What a joke that was. I'd pay to see a good interview with someone asking tough questions. Where's John Stossel when you need him?

They got ripped for the endings and didn't want to face the music. Pretty cowardly actually.

It is cowardly to an extent, but that what the media has done to our culture. People who didn't technically do anything wrong have to go in cryo, to avoid negative publicity, and occasionaly death threats. It's sad really, but thats the state of the world nowadays, especially in America. You can't even say Jeremy Lin has a "******" in his armor without offending people, at least in America.

Wait, exactly what have Hudson and Walters done that isn't "wrong"?

I'll sort my points, so its not a "wall of text"
1. I feel, in my opinion, that their statement made in 2011 were with the original ending intact.
2.  I don't have an exact date, but the original "dark energy" ending was leaked on Youtube before launch, forcing Bioware to rewrite it.
3. Did their statements not line up with the launch day ending? Absolutely. I also feel that the series is starting to go too much towards "space magic", so to speak.
4. In fact, when my friend finished the EC endings, his exact statements were "the control and synthetic endings were too space magicky" I love Mass Effect, and I'll admit, Casey and Mac have made mistakes, but I feel the fault is not completely theirs.
5. THEY ARE NOT COMPLETELY TO BLAME! I put it in big letters. So, its official.
6. I feel the fault lies with the hacker who posted the ending before launch day for all of the internet to see, at least partially.
7. But, Casey and Mac could have prevented that from happening. I'm spreading out the blame to those I feel deserve it.
8. You can't put all the blame on Casey and Mac. They do deserve a big amount of blame, just not all of it
There are my points. You can see them, in an organized fashion. Casey and Mac are human beings just like us. We can't expect people to be perfect. Because, people never are, and we all make mistakes. Look at how messed up Tiger Woods is now. I wouldn't want any woman trying to hit me with a golf club.

I hate "the story was leaked so we changed it" excuse. Every single DLC so far has been "leaked" none of it has changed. They only blame leaks when it suits them.

Seriously, if I were them, I wouldn't have anything to do with you people. This community has demonstrated they aren't capable of having channels of communication open directly with these professionals. Sorry, you had your chance and you blew it. Casey and Mac were both very active on twitter until you people started making personal attacks and insults. Maybe in the future you will learn how to conduct yourselves with a bit more respect and civility. If not, expect the same thing to happen again in the future, people will stop talking to you.

I consider tearing my heart out by destroying my favorite game franchise a personal attack. Casey and Mac started the fight.

I guess so. I didn't consider that. But, in the game industry, games usually have to be ready for launch day three weeks in advance. Add in EA's tight schedules, and that's what could have caused it. Is it possible EA intentionally "leaked" the ending, and handed it to a third party, as they've been known to do? We'll never probably know for sure. I find it weird that every DLC so far has been leaked in advance of announcement, but its actually becoming an industry norm. Mordin would say "I find that problematic"

This is the heart of the problem. You believe that because you were not adequately entertained that you have the right to make personal attacks on individuals.

You have every right to not enjoy the product, and to voice your criticism with civility and respect. You will never have the right to make a personal attack against someone else because you were not entertained.

A lot of the anger really came to head when Casey Hudson responded to the unhappiness with the ending and stated it was his intention for a polarizing ending, sounding as if he wanted people to feel the way they did.
Then the "lots of speculation from everyone" information came to light that revealed mac walters part in it
finally there was the controversial (in terms of if he actually wrote it or not) Patrick weekes distancing paper, placing all the blame on mac and Casey shoulders
it was the perfect storm, not just for casey and mac but for bioware

all in all it hard to care how bioware feels since i paid 110 dollars for a game that sucked

Really? So that justifies death threats? Well okay, um. Get a grip. Seek therapy.

I think the issues is a bit more than "not enjoy the product"
I think false statement, promises, and advertising are the problems and accounting people fustrations to not being entertained is the heart of the problem from the industry side as it shows that they were not listening

so maybe a middle ground can be reached

To be fair the civil criticism were also met with the same silence, and it's not fair to lump us all in the same category as an excuse.

What, you mean the "There isn't going to be an ABC type ending choice" gag? Don't make me laugh.

2.  I don't have an exact date, but the original "dark energy" ending was leaked on Youtube before launch, forcing Bioware to rewrite it.

Like how Kasumi's DLC was leaked in the files for ME2, or how Leviathan was in the EC. or how every single MP DLC has been leaked. Remember how much those changed?

3. Did their statements not line up with the launch day ending? Absolutely. I also feel that the series is starting to go too much towards "space magic", so to speak.

"There will be no Reapers off-button."

"We want a more meaningful ending than a simple ABC choice"

4. In fact, when my friend finished the EC endings, his exact statements were "the control and synthetic endings were too space magicky" I love Mass Effect, and I'll admit, Casey and Mac have made mistakes, but I feel the fault is not completely theirs.

Casey is the project director, and Mac is the lead writer. If the rumors about the endings are true, then the endings are 100% completely their fault.

5. THEY ARE NOT COMPLETELY TO BLAME! I put it in big letters. So, its official.

I can say the sky is purple, it doesn't make it true.

6. I feel the fault lies with the hacker who posted the ending before launch day for all of the internet to see, at least partially.

You just repeated yourself.

7. But, Casey and Mac could have prevented that from happening. I'm spreading out the blame to those I feel deserve it.

This isn't even a point about right or wrong.

8. You can't put all the blame on Casey and Mac. They do deserve a big amount of blame, just not all of it

Neither is this.

This is true. I have made lots of civil criticisms and no one has responded to me either. This is how society works though, we will often be judged by the lowest common denominator. The crappiest amongst us will define us. So while not everyone makes personal attacks, the crappy percent of people who do, ruin it for all of us civil and respectful fans/critics.

This.

This makes my point. Casey and Mac had to go into cryo, because of personal attacks. When gamers can approach their fellow human beings with respect and civility, even though its through an online lens, we will go much further. But, until that happens, games can't be art. The problem of people spewing nonsense over an online lens is complicated, but respect and civility will get you far. If you can't do that, the people you want to talk to will go into cryo, as Casey and Mac have.
Edit: The people in this thread have made my point for me. Its obvious they don't want to have a discussion, they just want to argue. If you hated the Mass Effect 3 endings, why didn't you get your money back? Why do you keep coming back to the object of your hate? Leave, and don't come back. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. You can't keep buying games from a company you disagree with. If you hated the endings so much, take the game back, or don't play it anymore. This is a simple concept. Read the previous content before arguing any further, or I'm done.

Which is a bit ironic since one of the themes explored during ME is that you can't judge an entire race based on the actions of an individual.

Honestly, this whole circus surrounding the ending debacle has been far more entertaining then the game itself. It's the reason I'm still here. Both ME3 and Origin was uninstalled from my hdd month ago ^_^

The problem with the reaction to the ME3 endings was that the hate was fired in 50 million different directions. Hate is a powerful tool, but without direction, you can't accomplish anything. That's why I'm suggesting civility over saying "OMG I HATE ME3, even after EC, fix it so Shepard will always live!" I didn't expect shepard to live, to be honest. You are fighting a galatic war.

Christ, watch it with the generalizations.

Most of the "defenders" in this thread all sound like you.

Citing that people on the BSN who are unhappy with the endings don't have lives...keep complaining about complainers. Its productive.

True. It's a real obvious answer.

PR knows those guys aren't popular right now. PR has them lay low while EA continues selling the game, determined to circumvent any further negative press.

That's all.

Whether the op meant it or not, this^

This thread was never going to end well and doesn't pertain to the discussion in anyway. If I were a mod, it would have been locked long ago.
