Thank god for Kickstarter. I would go insane if COD was the best RPG on the market(and I play COD).

Sigh, branching paths have nothing to do with role play. Branching story is born from adventure games not RPGs
That's what EAware thinks too apparently, which is why the "choices" in ME are no more meaningful than whether or not Aerith is given a flower in FF7.

Well let EAware tell it, Final Fantasy games aren't even "true" RPG's. You need superfluous choices that don't amount to anything to be a real RPG.

So until you can tenderly destroy Cpt. Price's anal cavity by grinding his friendship points and picking the "ravage" option on a dialog wheel, BioWare games will still be the purest RPGs.
Nice try, Infinity Ward. But no dice.

Aha! But this is a Treyarch CoD! And Price is not here! You'll have to settle for the crusty old version of the main buddy character from the first game.

I like to hear that they're actually trying this time. They've been taking advantage of their customers for far too long.

I'll laugh if it ends up being that good and gets RPG of the year. Whats not funny is it might actully do that.
I'll laugh if it sucks. I'm sot sure how well a change in the formula is going to go with its fanbase.

I've been thinking the same. Recent CoD games just looked and played like rehashes of CoD 4Logan Cloud wrote...
COD's never been a bad game. If they're willing to put some effort into this game, I'm certainly willing to support it.

If it turns out there's a character creator, proper leveling up and customization of your armor in SP I'm going to laugh.
Technically leveling up is already a present feature, at least in the multiplayer. Let's not go overboard here, though. This is still CoD we're talking about.

The Strike Force missions also feature permanant death and if the player dies in a mission the story continues as you play a new character but the plot is impacted due to the failure which can even change the plans of the antagonist.
In a CoD game, that is one heck of a horrible idea.
The fighting is so chaotic that sometimes you just walk into a grenade. Doesn't matter if there are grenade markers if you come running and the grenade explodes before you even notice it.
I remember one sequence where the game tells you to go sit on a tank. So I did just that and the tank starts driving. 10 seconds later I get one-shotted at random. I try it again, and I get through the onrails seequence without getting hit.

CoD...an RPG...
I've always loved Treyarch's CoD games, WaW i really loved the tone and violence surprised me, using an MG and just cutting limbs off and can't forgot zombies.
Black Ops had a great story, brain washing was not something i thought of before, the zombies was great in this, i played that more than multiplayer.
Seriously looking forward for Black Ops 2, were choices actually effect the game. Bioware should be ashamed.

If it is a choice mechanic that leads to this branching pathway, then i do classify it as an RPG. Getting into your character's head and making decisions is what RPGs are all about.
I'll have to wait and see. May end up being a lot more shallow than how it's being advertised. Like at the end of Splinter Cell: Conviction where you have the choice of shooting the head guy or leaving him; really basic ****.

I don't consider Final Fantasy to be an RPG in the least; nor any other JRPGs for that matter. No roleplaying, no genre label.

And this right here is part of why short of mocking I don't join in any "debates" or see half of the Opinions and those who express them worth more than a bug I step on with my shoe. F'ng stupidity.

He's actually right, you know. Most JRPGs could hardly be called RPGs at all...
