Hey Guys.

Right now I am using the Destroyer.  I have a Particle Rifle II that I am using as my primary weapon and a Piranha X as my secondary weapon choice that I use for fetch objectives.

Right now I am specced into Rate of Fire.  My question would be:  

Does rate of fire affect the Particle Beam?  I am thinking I could possibly get more damage from the particle beam by having an extended thermal clip and being able to shoot more rounds at maximum damage.  

Next, If I take as equipment Assault Rifle Amp III, will it still increase the damage of my particle rifle even though the game automatically starts me with the Piranha due to it being a higher level?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Better take the magazine size over RoF. PPR does not benefit from RoF.

I was agreeing with you. Hence the comment about the 12 shot pirahna which comes with the extra ammo evolution in devastator mode.

I tried the Particle Rifle I on my Destroyer just a while ago. Hated it, it's fairly powerful after some continuous shooting but the reload/recharge is a massive pain. I know if you watch the ammo counter you can avoid the recharge but keeping an eye on the ammo and on the enemies is awkward.

Anyway, I find it crap. Piranha is good though.

It's a bummer that a PPR Destroyer is speced differently than a general Destroyer. My Level 3 PPR is not good enough to give up every other weapon.

It still has the same warm up period, but you're doing more damage during that warm up period, and significantly more burst damage in overcharge mode.

As someone who rolls a Particle Destroyer, I can tell you that you really want Magazine Size over RoF. The Particle Rifle is kind of all-or-nothing with him, as it will only see its maximum potential if you build around it on him. I suggest Shield Recharge (it is pinpoint, no accuracy needed), Magazine Size and Damage Bonus if you're planning to bring it as a primary weapon.

I also throw on the Hydra Missiles since I spend a lot of time firing with it, and they will go off without interrupting my beam. No grenades, since that makes me have to stop firing. But you can easily find a medium you are comfortable with. Totally Gold ready, probably would be alright in Platinum but I don't enjoy the boss rush missile glitching bananza mode.

Unless you're only going to use the PPR with the destroyer, I'd choose RoF. You already get a bump in clip size from Devastator. With RoF it's obvious you're burning the clip up faster. I'm pretty sure that translates to damage output.

I always choose RoF, but I like to change up my weapons. That being said... even with the RoF the PPR is fun. If I'm using it, I tend to use both AR amps and Incendiary or Cryo ammo... All high level. The whole heat/ice ray thing is a real blast.

I played with PR-III over my X Rare ARs on my destroyer. The PR was fun to play on bronze/silver, but got me into too much trouble on Plat. Whether or not you choose to use RoF, you should stick with another AR until you build up your PR or drop it back to secondary weapon use for taking out large or distance objects.

If you use it, you start to get a feeling of how long you have before the clip runs out.  Then it's just a couple of seconds before it recharges itself.  Considering how easy it is go get headshots with the straight beam, I rather like it.  The only thing about it that I don't like is the encumberance, since I usually favor caster classes as a personal preference.
