Saber has 570-713 burst dps.
Mattock has 427-971 burst dps.
Harrier has 973-1187 burst dps.
These 3 rifles all have very decent accuracy and lack of recoil.

Why use Saber?

Saber is a scopeless sniper rifle. You can perform ranged headshots with the saber much better than the mattock or harrier.

I use it because of the awesome sound it makes...

... and because it kills stuff.

lol, another "DPS" theorycrafter that only sees numbers, and not actual in game performance.

The Harrier and Mattock cannot OSK an enemy with a headshot. The Saber has greater effective range than either, and staggers enemies a lot more frequently than the Harrier and Mattock. The Saber is capable of dealing more damage before you need to make a trip to the ammo crate.

Saber has more immediate punch than the Mattock or Harrier, and doesn't require nearly as steady aim as the Harrier does. Also it doesn't have the Harrier's magazine size/fire rate issues to worry about. You might as well ask why use the Widow over the Indra. You do it because one godawful powerful shot to the face can be easier on many playstyles than trying to keep a moving head targetted long enough to shred it with full-auto.

it kills things...........quickly.............I like things that kill quickly. Right now, I am so tempted to role play my Vorcha Soldier in this thread and with a match avatar to boot.

This. Also, OP only referenced burst DPS. Does anyone know the comparison of sustained DPS?

Since someone is going to bring it up...
"But Ashen, the Saber fires slow and pales in comparison to the Valiant or Crusader."

That's actually pretty funny, seeing as the Saber s**** all over the Crusader, and the Valiant.

Ahh, the Saber. One of, if not the, very first UR I got. And there it sat at lvl 1, all these long months...

I love it, though.

I love the sound and the look, I loved it in SP, and it remains the only damn gun missing from my manifest.
