It's amusing when people disparage Skyrim. It blew ME3 away in sales while launching during the competitive holiday season.

What do you expect Bethesda games are the Cod of RPGs?

How is that even comparable? CoD has grown into a franchise of cinematic heavy single player campains that are 8 hours long. They are kept alive by teenagers who shoot each other on Xbox, and must have each new game to get their new acheivement and keep up with the other xxxSuckmyXXXXX buddies they have online.

Bethesda games have stayed true to the open world concepts that their fans like. Comparing the two isn't really genuine, unless you just want to lump them both together simply because they are popular, not because of their very different game design changes over the years.

huh? you mean CoD hasnt stayed true to the SAME THING since CoD4? I MEAN THE SAME EXACT THING!! save for a new paint scheme and some cosmetic tweeks.

SAME GAME year after year!!

and Bethesda and CoD are gonna sell well, regardless....doesnt mean they the pinnacle of game creation. they are EXTREMELY POPULAR.   but popularity doesnt mean best..cept best selling...and quantity =/= quality

Cod uses an engine from the 90s.

Anyway, they've both grown to hit the casual market.

I think we have found the hipster gamers. Simply because the game is popular, it must suck.

What trendy underground game from Sweden is everyone playing, and do I have to wear those stupid horn rim glasses to enjoy the game?

I regard Skyrim as a lot better than what Bioware has put out recently like DA2, ME3, TOR. The market agrees as well.

Skyrim is still at or near full price while DA2 was in the bargain bin fast, ME3 saw equally drastic price cuts, TOR is a flop.

you probly liek twighlt too then

Why don't you go back to playing Cod while your at it.

CoD is still 60$
Madden is still 60$
The only reason Skyrim is near full price is because it hit the casual market like the other games I listed.

Bugthesda could release a movie about a potato singing the Marseillaise and people will buy it.

I don't see how that relates to Mass Effect.

You're right about that. I bought the DAO Ultimate Edition/DA2 console bundle for $20. The best deal on a new copy of Skyrim I could find for my uncle's birthday was $50.

Angry Birds blew both, must be so good.

Fail.

That's not even an RPG. Moreover Skyrim outsold ME3 by a mile without MP, day 1 DLC, online passes, or other gimmicks.

Skyrim was a massive success that exploded in sales, ES wasn't really popular before. Mass Effect has always sold the same number of copies. I think I heard that ME3 hasn't even exceeded ME2 in sales yet.
It's a shame all that CoD/GoW pandering went to waste, they ended up hurting their core fanbase while not gaining a new one.

Those games are at full price because of suppy and demand. The "casual market" might be an evil thing to you but Bioware aimed for that demographic as well and failed utterly. They've been trying to win them over going back to DA2.

wooo calm down ace. never said they sucked.  You keep on going with that making stuff up schtick and people gonna ask you to write a novel....that we can say sucks.

I gave up on CoD with MW2 cuz i was tired of the same ol thing.  I own most of Bethesda games...spent over 100hrs in all of them...but never beat them..cuz there is so much to do and the main stories kinda fail imho.

I PREFER BW games.......and think the quality is slightly better. But das me.

and yeah....POPULARity doesnt mean better...just that it is more popular.

so saying a game is better based off of sales....is alil silly

Massive failings. Please, explain how it was a failiure from Oblivion? I'll admit I don't like it as much as Morrowind, but is 10x better than its predecessor. Sequel successful.

Their budget was astronomical if the rumors are to believed. Then they laid off staff, shut down servers, went free to play. Even their subscriber base numbers were due to Enron style accounting. Sure they had a lot but for the free trial period.

Go look back at the beigning  of the thread , it has bugs, not just inconviences but **** that makes it honest to god unplayable, that makes it  so tha thave quite literaly f-ed over an entire secton of the userbase.

The reason it hasn't suffred mroe is cause the casuals gobble it up cause of namebrand.

The Game dose have failings you cant just ignore them.

Both types of games are nice. It's good that not every developer follows the same formula.

In Skyrim I can't rengade kick a Dragon in the junk but I can climb mountains, watch the sunset, hunt etc.

In more recent bioware games night doesn't turn to day and there isn't much in terms of exploration but I can live my heroic fantasies cinematically which is also very cool.
