No, but all the ones through X-2 were consistently "slow" in the sense of either being turn based, or turn based with a timer ("active time battle" or whatever they called it). Fundamentally different than free action twitch combat.

You're right, and that includes the XIII series. They were not twitch games, not really.

It'll be ok now that they've brought back I can't believe her cute little sister in an uncanny clone body.

That'll definitely be a plot point, I'm sure.

That would be pretty nice. Following how they released VII again on Steam.

Sign the petition!

Yeah, they really, REALLY need to. Nomura has said that they're developing it with Direct X 11. It's DESIGNED for a PC, for goodness sake.

 Guys I need help.

I can't kill this massive ripe monster, it keeps healing itself, does insane damage, I don't know what paradigms to us or which is which etc.

Do I need to grind by killing the monsters that appear out of nowhere? I'm a noon, I don't know what I am doing, I'm barely doing damage to it. I'm where you find Snow for the first time.

You're supposed to leave there and explore the area outside of that. You'll find a couple of artefacts, and you'll use them to go to both the Coliseum and then to...the Archylte Steppe or something like that. But the point is, you can't beat it yet.

What do you mean? Noel even says I have to help Snow who is getting pounded, I can't go anywhere else. There is a portal but that is closed until I find an artefact.

I see two paths but invisible growth monsters are sitting there, mog is unavailable to me.

There is an explanation mark at the massive ripe monster as well.

Well Lumina calls her "Sis" in one of the cut-scenes apparently, so she definitely has a connection to Serah. I'm sticking to the "Lumina is essentially a Yuel version of Serah" theory.

Go elsewhere on the map. Find the Artefacts. They will enable you to go to the Coliseum and the Archylte Steppe. You HAVE to do those before beating the flan. You HAVE to, regardless of what Noel says.

Here's a page with a bunch of screenshots, including the one showing Lumina calling Lightning "sis". I must say, the visuals for this game are looking pretty incredible. Also, based on Lumina's quote it sounds like either you do in fact capture Snow and I suppose hold him prisoner, or perhaps she's using the term "setting Snow free" to suggest allowing him to die (since he is apparently very far along in his evolution as a l'cie and is nearly a cie'th)

Here's the link, and her are a few of the images:

Ah, I see now. Yeah I looked on the guid and the Archylt was supposed to be my next destination, not this Sunleth place.

On XIII-3, I really like that fashion, the black leather looking clothes what mini Serah is wearing, the design of Lightning's black shield and some of her other clothes. Reminds of Prototype with the biomass texture.

Here are three Pre-OST BGM tracks:

Lightning Returns FFXIII Pre Soundtrack BGM06

Lightning Returns FFXIII Pre Soundtrack BGM05

Lightning Returns FFXIII Pre Soundtrack BGM04

Liking what I'm hearing, especially track 6.

Also, I noticed that track 5 has some elements that remind me of Yeul's Theme from XIII-2. That may be a coincidence since the same composers from XIII and XIII-2 are scoring, but it could be an intentional throw-back for what ever scene it might play in.

Guys, if you haven't already check out the Gamescon trailer that just released. Confirms Sazh as well as showing instances in which you will fight along side allies (In the trailer Lightninnand Fang fight together).

But perhaps most interesting are the moments with Lightning and Snow. Here's a link:

I wonder how deep the customization will be for all the armor/clothes and weapons.

Well for the clothing you can change the color schemes. They showed that element in one video and it looked pretty interesting. You can also mix and matched swords and schields. Beyond that I haven't seen much else.

This is pretty much all we know so far, I think:

Lightning will be customizable with wide array of costumes, weapons, and different battle styles. Schema allow players to put together a weapon, a shield, accessories, and abilities to create different skills and attributes for battle. These abilities do not include just commands during combat, but also actions taken on the field. Lightning will be able to collect and customize her equipment through completing quests and synthesizing them from components found in the world, shops, or battle. Players can preset different Schema and change between them, similar to how Paradigm Shift worked in earlier games. Gameplay director Yuji Abe states there is a lot of freedom in terms of customization, so the player can create a well-balanced character or an all-powerful one.

You can also change the colours of the garbs, to a degree.

Interesting the game sounds almost open world.

The devs said something about an open world too:

The developers have aimed for a world where the players would be able to reach almost everything that is visible on the screen, and it has been said there are no load times between areas unless the player either teleports, uses a vehicle, or there is a storyline event that transports the player somewhere new. The game has an open-world structure and the open world area is much bigger than what has been seen in previous Final Fantasy titles. The world is said to be so large the developers don't expect the player to visit everywhere on their first play-through.

I'm getting all this from the FF Wiki BTW.

Damn i really hope there is a way to extend or stop that timer. It might get annoying if there is a massive open world i don't have time to explore.

I'm unsure if this is a staple of JRPG's but will monsters keep popping up everywhere you go? It's such a ball ache to be taken out of the world to some arena, fight for a few seconds, view a stats screen and then warped back into gameplay.

It's like the forest from Poke'mon, except worst.

JRPG's do it a lot thankfully a lot of them a growing out of it a bit by giving a timer to show when you are going to be attacked or have the enemy's on the map and being transported to the pocked dimension if you touch them.

Ah, ****.

How can you avoid them? They bloody chase you for a few seconds, sometimes they spawn and corner you. It's so tedious and repetive, especially when you just want to explore the environment and not get jumped for once.

From what they've shown it looks like they're going with XIII-2's system; where some monsters may appear randomly, but you can avoid them if you so desire (and if they don't catch you).

The gameplay feels somewhat like Kingdom Hearts.
