I just finished the game 20 minutes ago and I did not expect the ending and the ludicrous amounts of outfits. (I think there's about 80 outfits)

Does it ever get hard sticking to the clock? because I did both Snow's and Noel's mission on day 2.

Easy mode is basically normal mode with more EP to use Chronostasis. So I did every main quests by day 3. The Doomsday Clock isn't that bad. It's just the timing you have to be careful of for certain sidequests, that annoyed me.

I hate those gates so goddamn much.

Yes, yes it does, the doomsday clock can and will limit your adventuring a lot, unless you do all the quests which give you Eradia or use Chronostasis.

I'm a little bit curious to see how I'll enjoy this game now that I can upgrade my weapons, shields and accessories.

I wonder if they'll bring out dlc packs for more outfits in Final Fantasty: Dress Up Lightning.

It's not just a dress-up game. If you played it, you'd see what I mean. Yes, you can dress-up Lightning, but that's not the only goal of this game. People might be dissing the sidequests and some of the NPCs, but this game shines through its sidequests, its people and its stories. It's a world driven adventure that pushes you to find down every little thing about Nova Chrystalia and solve some problems around many place. It might be a flawed game, but I think it's a beautiful one and the main theme about redemption is actually well executed.

The main theme is definitely not redemption. The main theme is what it has always been, defying fate.

True, it's not just a dressing game. It's a crappy "JRPG" that is just destroying the already tanking Final Fantasty name.

I've yet to get this. Played the demo though while I could. How is the game, for those who have it?

Fun gameplay but really really weird. The plot is typical to 13 and 13-2 so if you hated their plot's you won't enjoy this one. Filled with lot's of amazing little details too such as the coliseum where the crowd chants victory fanfare.

Here I disagree. It's not just about defying fate. You're clearly not paying attention to the NPCs and the sidequests are you? Or we just have different perceptions. The main theme is definitely not redemption. The main theme is what it has always been, defying fate.
That's just an opinion here, sadly. Nothing you can say will change my mind.True, it's not just a dressing game. It's a crappy "JRPG" that is just destroying the already tanking Final Fantasty name.

I've payed plenty of attention to the game. The theme of the world, the other characters, may be about redemption for LR, but the main themes for every single game has been about defying fate. XIII--everyone is given a task to destroy Cocoon that they blindly tell themselves is to SAVE Cocoon. They're attempting to defy their Focus. Eventually they come to grips with it, but remain commited to defying the Focus. Ingeniously, the main villain manipulates them into doing exactly what he wants up to the absolute end of the game, where Etro delivers them.
XIII-2 was about defying the fate of the world, the whole 700 AF end-of-days thing. They change history as many times as they can, only for the villain to have, again ingeniously, have been manipulating them into doing it. XIII-2 is more explicit than XIII about this, what with the direct quotes in the ending. Then
And LR is about Light defying god, Bhunivelze. The entire game is littered with it. I was actually spoiled (as to what she does in the ending) just before playing the game so I was a little annoyed, but I realized that from like the second or third day, Light is making clear and obvious threats about what she will do to defy the fate of the world.

I've only played through the first main quest, and I like it. In my opinion the reason its getting such negative reviews is that they named the game incorrectly.
Final Fantasy Lightning Cosplay Dressup would have been much more appropriate.

I don't know, thats kinda what I love about the game lol. Yeah, its over the top and cheesey, but that kinda what makes the game fun. And the outlandish outfits.
NOTE: I haven't played FFXIII or FXIII-2 and I have no investment in the story or characters. Just in it for the fun.

Good to hear someone enjoyed it. Doesn't change the fact tho, that my bathroom wished I had avoided it like the plague.

It's funny that a game is being criticized for actually having a lot of customization options.

People just like complaining about anything, really. (I include myself in this as well.)
Meanwhile, I'm not sure I'm enjoying my Hard mode New Game plus file... I really hate how EP skills cost most and how Ethers are so rare in the game.

Yahtzee doesn't like JRPGs in general so his opinion is a bit biased towards a rather skewered view of the genre. I appreciate his points, most of the time, because they do bear some valid criticism but JRPGs isn't in that category. I don't think even the Persona games would impress him.
