XIII-3 a.k.a. LR will be done a year after XIII-2. I fear the CGIs will be poor or absent.
Chances are the use of CGI will be more scarce than even XIII-2. I personally liked all the cinematics in XIII. But it looks like XIII-3 will take the road that XIII-2 took and have maybe one intro CG cutscene, one longer ending one, and then maybe a shorter one within the game.

No no no no no no....no. Don't get me wrong the combat was fun....for a bit. But after a while I was so tired of it. Also in most FF games I've played there was maybe one character I disliked. In FF13 I literally disliked almost everyone. Sigh...why can't they move on to something else? Like versus? That seems epic.
It's not made by the same team. Final Fantasies are being made by different teams like Mass Effects and Dragon Ages are made by different teams. You'll get Versus, but not from Lightning Saga's team.

FFVI and FFVII had some small choices, but nothing that really made the plot different. It was just simple stuff like getting characters to join your party, or waiting on a time limit to save a character or they would end up dead.
Oh and having the choice to have a date with this guy.

Bummer.....I love the CGI moments in FF.
Same here.

This one sounds interesting though. Proper customization? Open world exploration? Day and night cycles with NPC's running about and living cities? Action-based combat? I might keep an eye on this one. The limited time to save the world sounds interesting too and it sounds like the world will constantly be changing.
This is how I'm trying to look at it, though at this point anything SE does these days is immediately met with skepticism. The XIII series especially has appeared to be subjected to those who can't make consistently good game designs or well-rounded stories.
No.
The entire franchise needs to die.
And what would that do? Every numbered FF series is very close to might as well being a new IP. Little would change for SE. The franchise does have many well-loved installments too. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean the franchise should die for everyone.

As I understand FF, most of the games aren't even connected to each other so what's with all the numbers? A better idea would be to use subtitles instead. Final Fantasy XIII-2 seriously? What genius came up with that?
The same genius who thought up doing a series of games with the name 'Final' is my guess.

Neverending Fantasy sounds better. They should have called it that.
There's a story behind why it's called Final Fantasy. Apparently the creator of the series had tried several times to make a hit game and failed each time. So he decided to try once more and if it failed, he'd go back to University. So since he thought it was going to be his last game, he called it his Final Fantasy. That's how the story goes at least.

Let's take the worst FF game we've ever made and then make multiple sequels to it!
What? since when are they making FFXIV sequels?

Does releasing it twice count? (I think they're even calling it Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 'A Realm Reborn' now)

They never even try to fix XIII.

It didn't need fixing

It really needed a lot of fixing. I mean I guess that's what XIII-2 was for, but it just made the problems of XIII worse.

The story was great. And the combat was not automatic. Try playing any of the 64 C'ieth stone missions by just "tapping X".
Protip: It won't work.
And XIII-2 fixed some of the complaints. Mainly the linearity that so many people disliked about XIII.

The story was not great. Just tapping X is not what I mean when I say the combat is on auto.Ghost Lightning wrote...

Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle-> *Paradigm Shift* Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle-> *Paradigm Shift* Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle->Auto Battle.
That's what I mean, that's what killed XIII.
But XIII-2 still did not fix XIII. And XIII-2 has some new problems as well.

The fact that it has auto-combat is bad. If it comes off like I am whining, sorry?

Call me a hater, a whiner or whatever but XIII's "gameplay" still sucks.
Giant numbers! big giant number battles of attrition!
There are interesting ways to dilute the gameplay mechanics of a JRPG battle, which is already pretty simplified, and XIII was definitely not the way to do it.
