As for me hating the series, XIII should have never been a series to begin with. But if a game looks good I will say it looks good, simple right?

Some new details
Basically confirms that the old cast will be back, and that this will be the last game set in the XIII universe.
Awesom! Honestly, I think SE hit the nail on the head by returning to Lightning as the main character. Though most of the internet seems to hate the FFXIII cast (except for a few rare cases like me; I loved 'em all. [and you, Ghost?]) it would seem that there is near universal agreement that Lightning is one of the better characters created, up there with other FF faves.
I think SE realised this when people started complaining that she wasn't the main character in XIII-2, and got so little screen time.
Been thinking over the info and some ideas started buzzing about my brain, but I wonder if some tiny shred of Etro still resides in Light? If so, it might explain why Chaos didn't manage to consume everything.
Actually didn't she turn herself into crystal to keep the world from being fully extinguished?
Also, the big baddie may not be Chaos after all. It may be Bhunivelze. Potentially, Caius could be working with him to create his new world for Yuel. Could create an interesting twist if both Caius and Bhunivelze had similer goals but only were working together because they need eachother for some reason or other, of course that would probably only go so far, as I am quite sure Caius wouldn't let anything get between him and his goals, and Bhunivelze doesn't seem like the sharing type either.
I really hope something along these lines happens and Caius realizes he can't take Bhunivelze down by himself and he and Light team up........ one can always dream, right?

It's perfectly acceptable to have a normal discussion.
Note: I didn't read whatever argument is going on, and I'm not taking anyone's side. I'm simply saying that if you don't have anything to add to the discussion other than "Trololol FFXIII sucks", you'd get a lot more out of BSN by not coming into this thread.

How are you Final Fantasy fans still interested?
Especially after they released the same game THREE TIMES?!

Beacause!!!!!
I dunno really, but for me the story, characters and world have really drawn me in. Took me quite a bit longer to finish the games cause I read every lore related datalouge, and that really added to the story overall I think. Though I do think that putting so much in the datalog wasn't a smart move, since most people didn't seem to read it, I appreciated the extra content. I did the same when I played DA:O and DA2.

I think you need to do a bit more research. For starters, most fans of FF only actually like 2 or 3 games out of the series. Only a small portion of FF fans actually buy, play, and complete every FF game that's released.
Second of all, XIII, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns are literally nothing alike.
XIII is completely linear, and story-driven. There are no sidequests. There are no minigames. The game is run in a completely straight line.
XIII-2 is open-world. The game devs refer to it as "Character-Driven". You can switch the party leader in mid-combat. The combat itself is much faster, and more refined. The level up system is more polished. There are sidequests. There are even dialogue options in some instances. Not to mention that the story is going off in an entirely different direction from XIII. You can't just play XIII-2 and expect to understand what's going on, but at the same time, you can't play XIII and expect what's coming in XIII-2.
Lightning Returns is open-world again, another new story, the only character in the party is Light, and the concept the devs use for it is "World-Driven". From what we've heard so far, they're breaking down every aspect from the last two games except for the story, and starting over from scratch.
Like FFXIII or not, it's sequels are legit sequels. It's not a copy/paste system.

I assumed when they released FFXIII and FFXIII-2 they were trying a cash grab.
When I heard they where doing a FFXIII-3 I was like "Okay seriously?"
If they make legitimate changes between each game, then that's fine. But why not call them Final Fantasy 14 and 15?

There's 2 reasons for that:
1.) Each Final Fantasy game takes place in a new universe. None of the games are connected. That's why they keep adding on to XIII. Because they're following the same universe.
2.) FFXIV was released. It's an MMO. I heard it wasn't doing so great, but I haven't tried it, so I wouldn't know, lol.

The only commonality between them would be the fact that they all have Cactaurs and Chocobos and other in game refrences, like the character Cid, or the name Bahamut in some capacity.

I never knew that. Final Fantasy seems like a pretty unique series. At least with the way they set up their universes.
Thats another reason everyone has their favorites and insist that all the other games are "trash" compared to that one, because it isn't the same as whatever it is that they like about that particular one.
I just try to enjoy each based on their strenghts, makes life less complicated.

I've really been getting into it. The only game I hold in higher praise is the Metal Gear series, and even then, I gotta say that Lightning is a much more relateable protagonist than Solid Snake.

Most of the numbered games are set in completely different worlds with completely different characters and stories along with their own aeplay mechanics. For example, FF9 and FF10 are nothing alike except for being in the same series really. The exceptions are sequels to certain games, such as:
Dissidia is the prequel to FF1 but getting into that is kind of complicated
FF4 -Interlude- and FF4 The After Years
FF5 had a sequel TV series set years into the future
FF7 has a whole compilation of prequels and sequels, even a CG movie
FF10-2
FF11's many expansions (It's a MMORPG)
FF12 Revenant Wings
FF13-2 and Lightning Returns FF13
Lol, I got ninja'd hard.
