I dunno about the specific characters, but I do know Light and Cloud are VERY popular. Leon is too.
VIII, X, and XIII seem to be the most popular. XIII being really popular to hate too, for whatever reason.

Zidane rocked. Vivi too for that matter. I remember playing IX with my friend and we played together, picking different characters to control and voice. I voiced Vivi, he voiced Zidane, we had tons of fun together that way. Too bad we can't do that with virtually any of the newer games once voice-over took over. But that made way for awesome voice actors too........ sigh, win some lose some. Haha. Anyway, don't wanna get too off-topic, we're on the edge I'd say.

Good to know tat the doom clock won't be too punishing, and you can drastically slow it down/possibly stop it altogether with side quests. I was getting slightly concerned for a second there.

I've recently finished 13 and got towards the end on 13-2. And I gotta say 13-2 is the best final fantasy I've played since 10 (I played 1-6, 10-2 and 12 during that span.) Really looking forward to the end of this arc.

Different devteams. Toriyama is working on the XIII trilogy, while Nomura is working on VsXIII. It's really Nomura's fault that VsXIII isn't out yet (and by extension Kingdom Hearts III) One could argue though that SE has told his team to stall development on it for some reason, like waiting untill other projects are out of the way such as this game.
