Hi everyone,

So this is a thread for people who would like some kind of dlc which shows scenes of our war assets fighting, as well as several new missions for priority: Earth

Please feel free to give me ideas for the 'Possible examples' section; just write the premise of that particular cutscene in the thread and I'll write something up :)

So, down to buisness:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

*THE PROBLEM*

Posted Image

The final mission of mass effect, the moment the whole series built up to....

Was far worse than the ending of me2, which only 1 game built up to.

In short, as it stands, Priority Earth is...well...pants. Utter rubbish.

However, through the additions detailed ahead, I really feel that priority earth could be the epic mission it was supposed to be; it could be the best mission in the whole of mass effect; better than the suicide mission, better than virmire, better than tali Treason, better than the genophage arc.

And so we come to...

THE SOLUTION

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

*PREMISE*
Posted Image
A dlc, probably paid for, which simply adds cutsscenes, new missions and additional support to the current missions, to Priority Earth, which would give us the oppurtunity to see our war assets fighting. This includes ex-squadmates (maybe current ones, but they aren't technically war assets), and armies (perhaps starships, but only in passing, we don't need to see a minute long cutscene about them)

The great thing about this is: It gives us the perfect form of closure! Would you rather have a video of zaeed being awesome to epic music, or a picture still?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

*LOGICAL EFFECTS OF MISSIONS*
Posted Image

This is very simple.

Stopped the reapers from making more ravagers with Aralahk company? Fewer ravagers in the final battle.

Stopped the banshees on Lesuss? Fewer banshees in the final battle.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

*POSSIBLE EXAMPLES*

Now, some of these are far more detailed than we can realistically expect; however, this is more a way of showing how easily bioware could make all of the decisions come together, even in short cutscenes at the end.

The final versions of these will be cut a lot, but it is better to start out too detailed than not detailed enough Posted Image

The most detailed of these will focus on ME2 squadmates because they deserve a lot more closure than they have.

1. Miranda and Jack

Posted Image

It starts with Miranda fighting off mounds of husks, swarming around her. However, they gradually begin to overwhelm her.

*scene finishes here if jack is dead*

Then jack hits the husks with a huge shockwave, she runs over to miranda, giver her her hand and says 'Get up, cheerleader'. The two stand back to back and fight. Two things can happen next:

a)*If jack's students are on support roles*:

The two are holding their own, but a harvester swoops down upon them, blasting them with it's cannon. Miranda and Jack's barriers do little to protect them, but Jack's squad manages to erect a powerful enough barrier to protect themselves. However, soon they become exhausted, and just as the harvester begins to falter, a blast breaks through the barrier and strikes down jack.

Blasting the harvester to death with a final warp, miranda pulls jack onto her shoulders, and runs towards the students behind the front line. Seeing she needed extra help, student Rodriguez breaks line and runs to help them. She manages to get them to safety behind the front line, but is struck by a shot. Jack begins to wake up, but it is too late for rodriguez. She dies in jack's arms, with jack comforting her.

B) *If jack's students are on artillery*

The two are holding their own, but a harvester swoops down upon them, blasting them with it's cannon. Jack's squad focus their attention on the harvester, and smash it out of the air with biotics.

However, this display attracts reaper forces, and they fight against brute after brute, banshee after banshee sent after them. Eventually, they all fall to the reaper forces, Jack looking on, crying as her students are killed, but is also proud, as they managed to destroy enough reaper forces to help significantly in the retaking of earth.

This means there are fewer boss level enemies that shepard has to fight during Priority: Earth.

2. Grunt

Posted Image

Grunt has been sent by Wrex/Wreav to command a small squad of krogan and get them to the beam. They plough a trench through hordes of ravagers and cannibals, before stumbling upon a gigantic nest of ravagers. He and his squad charge right in, but as they make their way to the middle, grunt realizes it is too much for his squad. Seeing each member of his team fall just drives him on further and further, until all that remains is a pile of ravager corpses. Grinning to himself, he turns around, only to be grabbed by a brute towering over him.

a) *If Wreav is leading the krogan*

Although not much of a diplomat, Wreav excelled in the battlefield. The main horde of the krogan has already managed to get near the beam, however, Wreav sees grunt being held up by a huge brown mass, and he immediately orders his remaining soldiers to save him. The reaper forces are no match for the krogan, and just as it is preparing to slam Grunt into the ground, the brute is hit by multiple claymore blasts on all sides, and collapses.

Grunt gets up, and laughs, walking back to his warlord.

B) *If Wrex is leading the krogan*

Although a fantastic diplomat and a great example for his people, Wrex, is an even better soldier. He and his soldiers crush all oncoming reapers, only suffering 3 casualties. He sees Grunt hanging in the air by the claw of a brute, and charges right at it, roaring, destroying it before it could even growl, Grunt jumping back to his feet, covered in blood and laughing

For the sacrifice of his squad and his unwavering bravery, Wrex vows to make Grunt a symbol for his people, and goes on to erect a huge statue of him in the new capital of Tuchanka. Every day the krogan will see the statue; and so every day they will be reminded to strive to push their people to even greater heights.

c) *If the genophage wasn't cured, and as a result Wrex was killed, leaving the krogan leaderless*

Lacking any kind of support, Grunt cannot do anything to save himself as he is slammed into the ground by the brute, and he dies.

3. Samara

Posted Image

Samara and her team of justicars turn up while you are defending the missile battery. They protect your squad with a bubble (ala suicide mission and MP) which significantly reduces any damage you take.

When you activate the first missiles, a brute runs up to you from behind, but Samara sees it, and using the full might of her incredible biotic power, lifts it up and smashes it into a group of cannibals, reducing the number of enemies you must fight next.

However, after this she and her team must move on, and so you are left to defend the second battery without the additional help. She wishes shepard good luck.

4. Zaeed Massani

Posted Image

Zaeed has been chosen to go towards the beam alondside the merc armies. A blue suns merc corners him at the FOB, just before the final push.

'Zaeed Massani?'

He then says:

a) *If you killed vido* You killed our leader. And they expect me to follow you? Bollocks to that.'

B) *If vido survived zaeed's mission* Vido told us to watch out for you. To never trust you. And they expect me to follow you? Bollocks to that.

Zaeed then slams the merc into the wall, arm across his neck. ' You stupid son of a ****. There's a goddam war going on. You keep looking backward and you'll be dead before you can say 'mummy'. So you can leave, and die, or come with me and become the bloody hero you think you are . It's your goddam choice.'

He walks off, rifle in hand. He then mutters: 'Right. Lets send these goddam reapers back to the hole they crawled out of.' and charges into the oncoming horde, yelling, the merc army close behind him.

5. Kasumi Goto

Posted Image

*On a Crucible ship carrying scientists and tech experts*

Remnant troops of Cerberus attack this vessel in order to make a suicide attack on the crucible, damaging it beyond use. They slaughter every scientist and guard on the station and the leader of these Cerberus troops enters the cockpit to set the ship on intercept trajectory wth the Crucible.

An alliance ship boards Crucible ship, but when troops rush onto the bridge, they find nothing but corpses littering their feet.

The cerberus leader get up from the navigation chair to find a gun pointing at his head, held by a woman concealed in the shadows.

The woman says 'Looks like you attacked the wrong ship today. Woopsie! You should be more careful next time.'

The alliance troops hear a gunshot from the cockpit, and they rush to it to find the body of the leader lying next to the chair, and they notice that the ship is no longer on intercept trajectory. A single rose lies upon the leader's body.

They look around, puzzled, and the camera zooms out, and you see the edge of Kasumi's face, half concealed by her hood. She smirks, before cloaking.

6. Shiala and the Feros Colonists

Posted Image

During the turret portion of the FOB section, you see a small group of civilians at the opposite  end of the road.

*If the Feros colonists and/or Shiala are dead*

An onslaught of enemies hone in on them, and it is very difficult to save them with the turret. One of them will have a scripted death, being impaled by a banshee which charges right into them.

*If the Feros colonists AND Shiala are alive*

A group of enemies approaches the civilians, and just as Shepard jumps onto the turret, but before he/she can even fire a single shot, Shiala smashes a wall of a nearby bulding down with her powerful biotics and a team of her colonists rush out, yelling.

Due to their ability to sense each other, as left over by the thorian, they form an extremely effective team, drawing attention away from the civilians, and destroying the reapers without even a single casualty.

As her squad helps the civilians back to the FOB, Shiala looks up at Shepard, and gives a warm smile, which shepard reciprocates, before following her team into the FOB.

7. Major Kirrahe

Posted Image

After the FOB, when you reach the car park with all the brutes, you find Kirrahe and a squad of salarians fighting there. You join them, and when you finish the combat, you enter dialogue with him. He Talks about the mission, and mentions how he lost Commander Rentola earlier on.

Suddenly a brute smashes through the wall, knocking away shepard and kirrahe’s squads, leaving shepard lying on the floor . A banshee enters, and picks up Shepard lifting him up to eye level.

Major Kirrahe then charges at the banshee, managing to collide with it so hard that he knocks shepard out of the banshee’s arms. He then takes out his scorpion and fires all 4 shots onto the banshee’s head. He picks up shepard and walks away from the banshee, before the explosion blows its head off.

Placing the commander on his feet, he salutes shepard. ‘Always a pleasure, commander’ he says, before walking away with the remainder of his team

If kirrahe died in me1, then you will find a group of salarian bodies, as a shoutout to those who played me1, but didn’t manage to save Kirrahe.

*THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES TAKE PLACES IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE PARTICULAR SQUADMATE ON THE FINAL EARTH MISSION*
8. Javik

Posted Image

Javik has been placed in charge of a small squad, aiming to place a bomb in a building which, when detonated,  would block an area of no-man’s land, in turn impeding the movement of reaper ground troops severely.

Javik manages to reach the building with his squad, but when they place the bomb they receive a patchy message from commander Anderson; there is no way to effectively detonate the bomb from range because a combination of the reaper’s signals, and the high number of signals already being sent around London. The squad looks among themselves, but Javik volunteers to manually detonate the bomb.

They protest, but he says ‘You…your race is…alive. The fight for your kind is not yet lost; allow me to die here and honour the sacrifice made by everyone who was dear to my heart. You…warriors. You must destroy the reapers, you must stop the cycle. Make sure no race suffers, as our’s have, ever again. Make us proud to have died so that you may live.’

The squad looks at each other. ‘GO!’ Javik yells. They leave, and javik waits until they are gone. Reaper troops have now entered the building.

*If you told Javik to use his memory shard earlier, he takes it out, looks down at it and smiles*

Just as a Brute charges into the room, with cannibals on either side. Javik raises his eyes, and laughs. ‘Looks like you failed to kill ALL the protheans, reapers’. He presses the detonator, and the scene cuts to black.

9. Tali, the Quarians, and the Geth. (Parts only seen with the geth will be in square brackets [x])

Posted Image
Tali, as the most combat effective member of the admiralty board, was selected at the FOB to be in charge of the Quarian [and Geth] ground forces during the push to the beam. She leads them well, showing obvious qualities of Shepard’s leadership that she has picked up after being so long under his command.

[The Geth and Quarians work together extremely well: The geth’s logical and quick reasoning working together with the quarian’s undying loyalty to each member of their squad gained after spending years with them in a small space.]

They fight up to the side of a building; the door to which is locked. She rushes to hack it, ordering her team to guard her. A similar scene to ‘Holding the line’ from the suicide mission ensues. When the door is unlocked, she calls her troops over to her, but she sees that they are struggling, even with the geth’s power.

A banshee picks up one of Tali’s quarian teammates and impales him. Tali lets out a scream of anguish, and, finding a geth plasma shotgun on the ground, screams, while charging up to the banshee: ‘No-one….kills…anyone… under…my…leadership…you….little…Bosh’tet!!!’

In one smooth movement, she calls out Chiktikka, overloads the banshees barrier, and fires her gun, just as a rocket from Chiktikka collides with the banshee. It dies at her feet as her troops fall back to the door. She looks at the banshee, and then at her fallen comrade, hesiting for a moment before moving back to the door.

She then opens the door, and comes face to face with a Brute standing right behind the door, which roars in her face.

*If peace is made between the Quarians and the Geth*

Tali quickly backs away, but trips over some concrete. The brute then towers over her, but before the brute can damage her, rockets from multiple geth primes smash into it, obliterating it in a shower of fire before Tali’s eyes.

A geth trooper runs up to her on the ground, looks at her for a moment, and slowly extends a hand.
Tali pauses, then accepts it gladly, and it pulls her up. She then runs into the building with her troops.

*If the Geth lost the war*

The brute picks up tali, and smashes her against a wall once, and draws her back to do it again, before her team manage to take it down in bursts of fire and ice.

Tali is limp on the ground, and tries to get up, but her arm slips on her blood. The team run up to her, and help her up, calling in for an evac. Tali tries to argue ‘You….will not take me from here you…you…’ but she cannot muster any more energy and lowers her head as she is helped into a shuttle by the quarians.

She looks at them before it takes off, and says ‘Make…make me proud. Keelah Se’lai’

I think this kind of thing would give us exactly the kind of closure we need.

So, only one question remains:

Do you fight for closure?

It would be nice, but for god sakes! The entire final level needs a revamp. Priority Earth is about as hollow and souless as thessia. Just run around and shoot lots and lots of bad guys. Do your choices make a difference in how many enemies you fight? Do you fight with your war assets? No! You are a mile away from them fighting on your own.

And where is the rest of your squad? In ME2 SM I took my two squad members, assigned two roles and then I knew the rest of my squad mates were fighting as well. Priority Earth is where all bets are off. Everyone can die at any point in that mision. Your war assets should be used a lot more.

Just a lost opportunity that does take away from the game. :(

Yes, example is pretty nice. I thought of enitre team running in, protecting/helping Shepard in the beam run.

But I guess that'd be too video-gamey. And would include some CHOICES having an impact on the game.

It would be nice, but seriously, did you see how many are they? And sequence, even small, for everything? Not mention how many possible version of this cinematics would be.

This never happen.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Everything has an impact, even if that impact isn't what you prefer. Just because there are alternative methods to achieve the same results doesn't mean you can undercut all the things you've done in the past.

It's not the impact; that has been seen, it's more the CLOSURE of that impact that i would like to see expanded.

Would you not like to see grunt killing loads of reapers and being picked up by a brute, before waves of rachni swarm in and take it down?

Most of the War Assets I would love to see are Space Craft and seeing as they have not developed any new unique models since Mass Effect 1, I am going to guess no.

I would pay for it if it was substantial. At least 25 minutes of high-quality War Asset action would be required for my money.

I would pay for adding in a whole set of war assets fighting at the end. I'd be delighted to pay for it if it let me play NPCs other than Shep.

Hell, I'd love to see the war assets and old crew members from the perspective of an MP character.

Entire missions need an overhaul.

It is the dullest mission I have ever played in any video games.
And it needs Suicide Mission style mission with out War Assets.

I would pay for this. I want to see war assets kicking ass in cutscenes. While I would appreciate a suicide mission style way of selecting what to do with them I'd be fine with just seeing them in action

The problem with this is that the end battles mostly consist of videos, so BW would need to make videos for every possible combination of war assets.

The only way I see this happening is if you present the end battles in ingame graphics, so you could make them more modular. But I dont know if something like this would be possible with the unreal engine.

All those War Assets were gathered for a singular purpose. Stopping the Reapers from destroying the galaxy.

That happens. That's all the closure you need and if that's not enough, it's your problem, no one elses. Bioware already gave a free Extension on the ending and you people still aren't satisfied.

It would gather a "this should be right from the start in the game" reception, but I'd buy it right away just as a "thank you for acknowledging and fixing your mistakes" appreciation token.

Yes, even without possible conventional victory.

If they released a revamped earth missions with examples like yours then I would buy it in a heartbeat. Your example had consequences for both outcomes, eg theres not really a good or bad choice, I wish there was more of these in the actual game.
