If they released a revamped earth missions with examples like yours then I would buy it in a heartbeat. Your example had consequences for both outcomes, eg theres not really a good or bad choice, I wish there was more of these in the actual game.

Thanks a lot mate

They definitely need to look into adding war asset cutscenes.

Even if it's just a short 15 second clip.

I support this thread, either it be battle sequences of war assets attained, or your me2 squadmates somehow helping in your priority earth missions. Or a combination of both! It would also add replay value to the game.

This is my only dig on the whole ending post-EC.  I don't even care that we didn't get to control them ala Suicide Mission, but at least show them in action.

That being said, I'd rather them just focus on making more SP dlc (Omega) than wasting time making those cutscenes.

Suicide mission 2.0 belongs at the end when Shepard and Anderson are at the holographic table going over plans for the final push. Allow us to assign the troops! Who should protect the tanks, guard the flanks, distract the reaper forces so we can get in etc.

Overhaul Earth completely, make it an entire quest hub like Rannoch and Tuchanka. If Bioware will never change the ending, I'd still pay to actually be able to "take back earth" in a full earth section, I'll just turn my game off when I hit the beam and go "lalala shep & liara had babies and the reapers died the end"

It's not that your Miranda/Jack scene idea is bad Flog, it's great and would look awesome. But it would require tons of resources and developement time. Mo-capping, animatins, music, camera angles etc etc. Not to mention the issue of voice acting. And that's just ONE War Asset scene. Now imagine creating just as elaborate cutscenes for everyone else. There are tens of important War Assets and tons of variables for them. Not only would it take months and huge amount of resources, but it could also transform the London mission into a movie rather than a game. The gameplay pacing could become way too chopped up. Too much cutscenes ain't good either.

Personally, I think the best, most realistic, and most efficient from resources POV way to do it would be having the models of our War Assets be placed around London map with some combat animations.

Something like the Asari soldiers fighting on Thessia, it could be Jack and her student making biotic barries for Alliance soldiers standing on baricades in London:
Image IPB

A little bit later, we could see Ex-Cerberus soldiers (models taken from multiplayer) along with Miranda & Jacob (if they're alive) fighting as well with some standard combat animations.

Further down the road, we could pass by (or see a bit in the distance on some barricade) Grunt & Aralakh Company along with models of Rachni troops fighting together. Maybe we could even see Grunt dying (standard 'getting killed' animation) if Rachni Queen was not saved.

Then would could walk by Vorcha, Blue Suns & Zaeed.

Then we could spot Drell Assassins with Elcor Tanks.

Just that. Our assets in London without elaborate cutscenes. I just don't believe there's any chance for elaborate cutscenes for War Assets. It would take too much time & resources for Bioware, EA would not greenlight it.

That is completely true, however, since it would be cutscenes and not cinematics, and also that we would pay for it, i don't think my idea would be that impossible.

I would only want something this deep for the ex-squadmates.

It sounds like you want something more along the lines of dragon age origins' ending?

I may cut down the jack/miranda scene, but i'll work on writing up some new scenes first

I didn't play DAO, how did it look like? Essentialy yes, my idea is to 'decorate' London map with our troops, they would be standing in various spots, doing some combat animations etc. Without tons of cutscenes.

Yes, example is pretty nice. I thought of enitre team running in, protecting/helping Shepard in the beam run.

But I guess that'd be too video-gamey. And would include some CHOICES having an impact on the game.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Everything has an impact, even if that impact isn't what you prefer. Just because there are alternative methods to achieve the same results doesn't mean you can undercut all the things you've done in the past.

We aren't satisfied because everyone had such high expectations for this game. It was the end of our 5-year journey, the BIG CONCLUSION to Commander Shepard's story, the final part of the series where we wanted to see all our work pay off. It should have been the most epic game of this generation, the first 2 games and all the DLC were all leading up to this - the grand ending.

And they screwed it up.

OP pretty much sums it up why. All the choices and their consequences people were so excited to see play out were reduced to some ****ty War Assets, and got some random numbers sticked on them.

The game is "good". Now, I guess you'd expect that to be a compliment, but it's not because that's exactly the problem - it should have been SO MUCH MORE.

P.S. Want to see the real ending this game deserved?

There you go. I hope this guy one day starts his own gaming company or w/e, I'd really love to play one of his games. This dude's ending = leagues ahead of the one the writers at Bioware gave us.

You should, it was great!

Yes, essentially, they 'decorated' the battlefield. As well as fighting of their own according, you could also call up one of the four factions to fight with you.

There is also a section where you play as the members of your team who you didn't take with you; made it feel like the squad was helping, even without the protagonist

It's astounding that we even have to ask for this or that some of us are willing to pay extra the price of the main game for it. I obviously want this, but I'm not going to pay more for it, sorry.

Well, yeah. I wanted that more than an extended cut of the ending, but 'majority' rules.

I support this, my biggest complaint about the game is the intangibility of the WA's. Would be real cool to see everyone kicking reaper a**, and would make me want to play the game more.

Adding cutscenes won't solve anything and it will only brake action, due to how level design is of that level.

So no, it can not work without overhauling an entire mission.
Which it needs to be done, in fact.
