My goal is to win. To me, winning means getting a happy ending - my character alive, my squad alive, the galaxy saved, and blue babies with Liara.
DM: So you've never faced death?
JK: I don't believe in the no-win scenario.
We all know how that one turned out.
I have the ending for you that you want. You make it to the catalyst, but Anderson makes the hard choice, and blue babies come a rockin.

Main goal was to unite the races in a ethical and just community. Coulda been the Star Trek of our generation, until that damn ending. This was not Halo, destroying the Reapers was just a nessisary action of survival, but was minor in the grand scheme of the game.
Hmmmm what? I don't see the point with Halo. Halo never had bad ending nor hard choice.

It depends, are you asking about Shepard's goal, or my goal?
Shepard's goal is to save the galaxy. To provide for the continuation of galactic civilization as it exists now.
My goal is to win. To me, winning means getting a happy ending - my character alive, my squad alive, the galaxy saved, and blue babies with Liara.
This!

To stop Saren, Spectre Justice!
Then kill the Reapers.
Or stop Saren, and then 2 games later decide that despite convincing him to blow his own face apart, he actually had a very good point.
Enough of a good point to throw yourself into a shiny light of certain death.
Yeah.

Yeah.
Sarens way of thinking has nothing to do with synthesis. He thought if he would serve the reapers they might let him live, that is hardly synthesis.

To save the galaxy and become the most legendary man of all time.
Commander Shepard has become a legend by ending the Reaper threat, you can continue to expand that legend through further gameplay and downlodable content.
