Well, of course there was the 'Defeat the Reapers/Save the Galaxy' goal which my Shepard accomplished by destroying them. But the main goal, obviously, are the little blue children, which my Shepard is possibly working on right now. ;-)

My tormented Shepard's goal (colonist/sole survivor since ME1) was to just destroy the reapers and to finally die to be with his fallen comrades...yet he still manages to be the only one to survive in the end

End the Reaper threat. And destroying them ended up being the way that happened for me. If the only option was control, I'd choose control... but I can't imagine choosing control when destroy is an option. Not when I'd be controlling the life essence of a thousand extinct races instead of just getting rid of the abominations that harvested their livelihoods once and for all.

I wish I were a fly on the wall during the writing sessions when Synthesis came up. 

Why was it even brought into the game in the last 5 minutes. 

Why does Star Brat say contradictory things to what I accomplished (Geth-Quarian peace). 

Why, in the last 5 minutes, is Synthesis "preferred" all of the sudden? 

Why is a galaxy wide act of Eugenics considered the best option when destroying the Reapers was the goal for most of the game and maybe Control for those more sympathetic to Cerberus? 

Was Destroy Ending given the shaft by killing all other synthetics as well as the Reapers just to shoehorn in Synthesis as being "preferred"?

If nothing else, I really wish the writer(s) at BW would explain in detail why they took the game objective and threw it out the airlock in the last 5 minutes.
