To understand what the hell just happened, and to DESTROY the Reapers, without shootin' some tube.

My Shepard's goal? He just joined the Alliance because it was a roof over his head and pay check in his hand. And far better than the slums. He didn't want to get roped into saving the galaxy, he wasn't a team player and definitely not the most obediant of soldiers (save for perhaps Anderson and Hackett whom he saw as de facto father figures).

He kills the Reapers because that's simply his job. Doesn't get emotional about it. Doesn't get teary eyed. It was his orders and he never fails to carry them out... Post-war however, he goes rogue, drops off the Radar and finds a backwater to hide in.

My Shepard wanted to create peace in the galaxy, by bringing everyone together as a team and defeating the Reapers. The intended result was a happy ending in which my character reunites with Miranda, gets married, have a beer with Garrus, etc. My Shepard wanted to have a happy ending to an epic adventure! :)

Kill the Reapers, save the galaxy, and try and get him/herself and closest friends out alive.

I guess I succeeded, even if a lot of that was done in an incredibly silly and badly-written way.

The same as in any other linear shooter, to kill things and blow things up.

Well, originally it was to save the galaxy by stopping Saren, but it evolved into saving the galaxy by wiping out the reapers, no matter the cost.

To fight and beat the monsters, not become one in the process.

To stop the reapers, to break the cycle, to maintain galactic peace, and while we're at it know more about the reapers etc etc.. Wanted to spend some more time with Liara but that didn't turn out that way.. :'(

My goal has been what it has always been since ME1 and that is to protect and defend the peoples of the galaxy. I assumed that responsibility when the Council made me a Spectre. That's why I worked with Cerberus against my will, that's why I let Balak go and didn't shoot him on the Citadel, and that's why I sent the Reapers and that creepy glowing kid to perdition. If Leviathan turns out to be a problem in the future and if I am still around, I will be happy to send him and his buddies to join their creation in hell and they can throw a reunion party.

My Shepard's goal was to avoid being railroaded into picking one of three choices offered by an AI.

He failed.

The choices are the result of the Crucible, not the Catalyst.

You're right.  Was tired last night, wasn't thinking.

Guess my Shep succeeded, then. ;)

To save the galaxy, by destroying the Reaper threat without everyone losing their humanity ... needless to say there were a lot of rocks that fell that day. Not my fault I didn't want to pick one of the Catalyst ridiculous ultimatum.

What?  Unifying the galaxy to attain strength from diversity only to crap all over it in the last 5 minutes to commit an act of Eugenics and genetically manipulate the galaxy without their consent or permission to attain some green eyed space utopia where everyone is made the same and Joker can have his sexbot all based around the circular logic that the Reapers are doing us a favor by killing us to turn us into that which we will create and eventually rebel and kill us......

Yeah, not exactly what I had in mind either.  And to think some wonder why I'm boycotting Leviathan DLC...

As a spectre Shepard felt a greater responsibility to the galaxy and the allies than to Shepard's friends. Control and submission was never the goal and Shepard fought against that. The brat and its boys who were clearly not invited, behaved like they owned the galaxy. It was time to end the brat's idea it could use evolution as a tool that caused a gazillion victims.

To save the galaxy from giant monsters. That...kinda worked. With headcanon. And a liberal amount of imagination ><
