Since I have no friends on right now I have been pondering this question. I will explain my logic. First of all bronze and silver don't rly count as everything is powerful on those difficulties.

So that leaves gold and platinum, now pay attention this is important. I play 6-8 hours a night and most lobbies are farming matches, glacier or white. There is no honor in this only credits but we all do it. Anyway, why wouldn't you want crazy weapons to make those games go quicker?

Bioware says they listen to us about most nerfs but most players are farming to get more stuff. To me nerfing seems like circular logic.

Thought?/

For longevity.

If the game was balanced, people might actually relax enough to play something other then farming matches.

Often the time comes where data shows that a weapon is behaving in a way that it was unintended for, so it recieves buffs or nerfs until it reaches the state it was meant to be.

Just as oil rises above water and a rock sinks to the bottom, all things find their place.

We told them flat out what we want to keep us interested. They gave us platinum and new objective waves. They still need to give us collectors and extraction incentive -_-

Things were unbalanced because we allowed it. They will be balanced because we demand it.

Those who are only playing this game to farm, those who want games to go as quickly as possible, will probably grow tired of it as soon as they have collected all the URs.

For some of us, playing the game is what makes it fun. And that fun is largely dependent on the game offering a challenge level that it is rewarding to figure out and overcome. For this group, super guns are bad news. Unless you have a group of players you can team up with, those guns will be preferred by the farmers, meaning they will dominate PUGs and diminish the experience for those who play the game to play the game. The pre-nerf Krysae days weren't fun. I could enter a gold match, expect to find three infiltrators, and it was pretty much given that we would make it to extraction. Utterly boring.

Someone else used this analogy and I found it very fitting.

"It's not really fishing if the people I'm going fishing with use grenades, even if I end up with a lot of fish at the end of the trip."

Consider this: The Cobra missile launcher is a "crazy weapon". Now, what if Bioware said, "screw this, we can't fix this glitch, might as well give the Cobra infinite missiles for everyone". Would you be ok with that? If not, then you have actually acknowledged that balance is important.

Produce shelves for the arrival.

Well at least BC is something to look forward to every tuesday.
Otherwise I'm really not that bothered by the balancing.

Well at least balance threads are enjoyable to watch develop.

They might as well, seems every random lobby has "someone" with infinite rockets.

That is more the Slotmachine store then anything else. The "excessive" farming is a direct result of totally random unlock system. If we had something more asking to Tribes: Ascendance or even Mann Co./crafting, the level of farming wouldn't be nearly as bad.

Opposite is true when it comes to nerfs - people are sick of things getting nerfed and some have left.

Its an utter lie.  The only people that you keep by nerfing things is the hardcore elites and stupid ass kissers of them.  The majority of the playerbase just wants to have fun, and farming would be less of an issue of weapons and difficulty allowed easier access to weapons and higher difficulties without farming strategies.

Increased difficulty plus difficulty obtaining better weapons leads to increased farming.

The balance is done all wrong in this game.  The balance should be towards the middle of the curve, not the upper 20%.

of coarse not but the rocket glitch was a means to an end. I would rather ppl use over powered weapons like the pre-nerf kyrsae and typhoon then rocket glitch. I was still able to play when ppl used those guns, now I have to make an effort to find a normal lobby.

Things too powerful makes things dull and uninteresting.
Things too weak makes things dull and frustrating.

Proper balance keeps it fair and fun.

[/quot] there are limits though. some classes can never be truely balanced. if it were a drell vanquard should score as much as a GI and we all know that's not the case.

They are right.
The main reason I don't play bronze is because it's way too easy and dull.  If there's a weapon to make gold feel like I'm playing bronze, then the game would not be fun anymore.

Does anyone remember the PS 1, and how all the kids back then would play games for two days after discovering whatever god mode cheat was available, and getting bored.

I don't play just to unlock items.  Therefore, the whole "but then it will be easier to farm" argument does not move me in the least.

Yes. Buff the guns so farming is easier so any sense of challenge that is left when playing the other maps is squandered.

There shouldn't be classes that outshine all other setups, pigeon-holing people into using the more powerful setups. Ideally, most classes should be usable and weapons will fill niches in which they are passable. These classes should not become usable because you have 3 randoms on your team using EZ mode classes and it doesn't matter what you use.

Regardless, there are plenty of great setups that remain. To the OP, want to make farming go faster? Well, pick the GI with any of the weapons: piranha, indra, harrier, gps, hurricane, saber, javelin(mine's X though), reegar, typhoon, PPR, scorpion, talon..
