Does anyone remember the PS 1, and how all the kids back then would play games for two days after discovering whatever god mode cheat was available, and getting bored.
Why must things be balanced?

An F-14 Tomcat may be a little outdated by today's demanding combat aircraft standards, but in the right hands and the right pilots it could still compete with and maybe even surpass the most advanced fighters.

It was never as fun as struggling, and failing to get total completion of spyro 2 five or six times.
Then finnaly getting to that final bossfight were you got flying and the super fireball at the same time in that really cool dogfight sequence.
Unfortunately... Such things are no longer appeciated by the gamer world.

Ace combat 4.
Dog fighting with the bombers was so fun (,And a really great way to anger freinds who you invited to PVP at that game.)

Jak 1-3, MGS 3, RE 4, and Ace Combat 4 were the golden age of gaming.
Those were the lead in.
All great games.

-reads title- shouldn't it state why do we need balance changes that are done incorrectly and without testing?
The reason why so many rash balance changes get made:
QA testers. Their job is basically to replicate glitches for hours on end.
Imagine, repeating the vanguard glitch, making enemies invisible, and making yourself invisible all day.
After that, you would pass any sort of change to a game.

Now I feel old. I remember saving up to buy Goonies II for NES. Cost about 600 Norwegian kroner, or 90 dollar. And that was back then! For a 256 kb game. Jeez.

Ahhh, I remember finding out [SPOILER] the truth about Santa [END SPOILER] because I woke up to pee one night just before Christmas & heard intriguing sounds coming from my parents bedroom.
Get your mind out of the gutter, it was the vaguely familiar sound of Pac Man being played using the Atari 2600 that I had asked santa for...
...memories...oh, yeah. What WAS the topic again? Balance. I don't remember, did they ever buff those Ghosts from Pac Man?

For longevity.
If the game was balanced, people might actually relax enough to play something other then farming matches.
Opposite is true when it comes to nerfs - people are sick of things getting nerfed and some have left.
Its an utter lie. The only people that you keep by nerfing things is the hardcore elites and stupid ass kissers of them. The majority of the playerbase just wants to have fun, and farming would be less of an issue of weapons and difficulty allowed easier access to weapons and higher difficulties without farming strategies.
Increased difficulty plus difficulty obtaining better weapons leads to increased farming.
The balance is done all wrong in this game. The balance should be towards the middle of the curve, not the upper 20%.
People who have left the game because the nerfs are short sighted, not only that they only achieved their success because of relying on an unbalanced and unfair advantage. When all things are balanced then every loudout can achieve a mutual level of success. When things are unbalanced only a few loadouts/chars can achieve relative success and the others are left behind. This constricts the number of strategies and playstyles available in the game and makes the game dull.
I don't expect most people to realize the latter half of that paragraph. However, anyone who believes that the game has been a "barrage of nerfs" is short sighted and narrow-minded. There has been a minimal amount of nerfs few have been large, most have been neglible. The number of buffs still outweigh it.

yeah they did actually they came out with new and improved pack man where the ghost could travel thru the maze walls if i remember right the maze would also disappear for few second as well and you would have to run from the new ghost you would have to get the new turbo powerup to beable to getaway from them.. at the time.
as i said balance is a must in games that keep changing each week its to keep us baited and or try new things to excell at thats the true balance if we diidnt have balance in the game we would be playing a very very dull mp
