Dont spec into Tactical Arrows. Just max Cryo Drain and you'll be fine.

Run around like a maniac, energy drain to keep your shields up, burn and shoot everything else.

Just stay in cover and spam decoy. That's what the 1337 players do.

Lord...

Just stay in cover and spam decoy. That's what the 1337 players do.

yeah... DONT do this! :D

first some background, then I'll post my build, which isn't all that special to be honest.

okay.  My Salarian Engineer is arguably my favorite "Gold" character.  I can pretty much bring him in with randoms, and with my team, he's pretty epic.

to start with, when you're first starting out, fight Geth.  Geth have LOADS of shields.  So in that energy drain will keep you alive and almost "tanky" ... if you can call a Salarian that.

Following Geth, play against Cerberus.  They're the next "shieldy" enemy.  Followed by Reapers, and then finally Collectors.  I've only played my own Salarian twice against the Collectors, both times on Silver, and it was crazy tough, so yeah.  Not for the feint of heart.

Then again, he's not for the feint of heart anyways.  He's squishy, but one hell of a caster... and teamwork is key.  If someone else has overload, or incinerate, or cryo, or their ammo does, communicate with them, and set up explosions.

Heck, nothings better than on my team, in platinum, taking my Salarian and having my buddy's Jug with us.  The power of his Siege Pulse, after I've incinerated a Brute, Ravager, Banshee, "Troll" - Engineer (pick your favorite) is just... beautiful.  especially since I'm hiding behind his shield enjoying my other buddy's healing turret all the while ;)

my build and why:

http://kalence.drupa...!24X54364!E3EBG

6 - energy drain

3 - decoy

6 - incinerate

5 - Salarian Operative

6 - fitness - ALL fitness :D

So... for survivability - put 6 points (3 ranks) into Decoy.  Basically, Decoy is there in a pinch, doing hacks in the open, running around on an escort, when you get stuck "soloing" or if you want to set it up as a warning like in the bottom area of the tower on Giant.

Energy Drain and Incinerate are your main powers.  I've been playing him Gold since I only had a Predator III thanks to these (fighting Geth on Giant mind you, but we were consistent and making $$)

Energy Drain first, followed by Incinerate is slow, but strips shields and barriers thanks to the tech burst.
Incinerate, and thanks to a 196% power recharge speed and 2.5 second cooldown, then Energy Drain is your major boss killer, or anything killer for that matter.  By the time Incinerate gets there, Energy Drain is ready.  Very good in a pinch too.

I don't speck Rank 6 in Passives because I use a Hurricane and a Scorpion.  Damage boost is nice, but he isn't a sniper and the Decoy is way more useful.  Matter of fact, I just finished a Gold game with one friend and two randoms.  My Salarian was 18 thanks to promotions.  Hindsight being what it is, I wish I had already spent the 6 points in Decoy.  I solo'd most of 8 and got us the money in 10... but lets just say the game didn't go smoothly.  Banshees were practically trolling my friend playing a Ghost, sync killing him at the start of the waves, and the randoms... well, they were randoms with very low level gear... yep.

If I had my Decoy.  I could have pulled through and saved our team and maybe made extraction.

Fitness, is all about getting what little there is to get.

For gold I use a Cyclonic II or III (depending on what I've got) and the Structural Ergonomics V because my Omni-Capacitors is still at II... (damn packs)... with Cryo rounds for additional crowd control.

Weapons:

Scorpion - started out as a gimmick because he's Salarian.  Fell in love with the quirky thing and haven't looked back.  It's fun, what can I say?  I use the power adder and a lightened materials on it.  It's what I have out most times, nothing like sniping on the map with a scorpion and setting mines or just outright killing things I don't want to use my powers on.

Hurricane - this is my "oh $#@T!!!" weapon.  Lightened materials and high velocity barrel.  Firing a mag of that in-between my fire explosions cooldowns makes things wish they didn't pick on me.  Even brutes, Prateorians and the other beastly baddies.  Geth Primes are a joke now.

My engineers are spec'd out for support.  Most everything is set up for AOE.

before my kit was good, I was low-man on the scoreboard, but loved by all.  It's how we became a team in a way.  He was my first non-human character and I love the salarians.  Now, he's a bit beastlier, but still low-ish scoring.  But he's there to support, defend, and protect.  And my team, and everyone I've played with, that's been with him has loved him.

*draws a sharp breath - focuses eyes real tight* "never see me coming"

I assume you mean the double post? Yeah... don't know this forum all that well, and apparently I'm blind. :D For the life of me I couldn't find the "edit" button lol

Unfortunately no, I didn't.

Yeah... don't know this forum all that well [...]

Um... well... you see - except SterlingPhoenix nobody cared for providing a serious build suggestion (the reason should be explained by the old stagers). You have been the only one who made the effort of producing (a quite good) post, explaining everything.

And maybe some day a newcomer will benefit from it - but the OP - I guess not. :)

For the life of me I couldn't find the "irony" button lol

Fixed that - for me

The Edit button doesn't appear until you refresh the page after making your post. I don't know why.

As for the SE, spec Incinerate for maximum damage, equip high ROF weapon, equip Incendiary Rounds. Game won.

When you are ready to advance, I wrote you a handy in-depth guide on how to play all Biotic characters vs every faction

1 - Equip Warp Rounds.  They get a damage boost when you shoot a biotically primed target.

2 - Cast a Biotic primer.  Warp, Reave, Dark Channel, whatever.

3 - Shoot PPR

4 - Once PPR is ready to recharge, if you have a Biotic Detonator power, cast that now.

Repeat as above

The nice thing is that now they can all ditch the Acolyte, which made them gimmicky and ambiguous

Now I want a Biotic Salarian Engineer.
