Normally in the "I want details.", "I don't understand...", and "How?" choices, you are supposed to see a cinematic scene showing brief flashes of what will happen if you choose destroy, control, or synthesis respectively as the Catalyst is explaining them to Shepard. But the cinematics are skipped and even one spoken line by the Catalyst, "You will no longer be organic" is skipped. Here is a video showing this glitch.

Note: This bug occurs if you have the Leviathan DLC installed. It affects PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Chris Priestly's response on my PC thread: http://social.biowar...5255/2#13997086

I'm not sure this is a bug. At least the skipped line.. I have the feeling Bioware wants to make synthesis more appealing to the player.

I noticed this as well. Not sure if it's a bug or was intentional.

I also noticed the music played during the Quarian vs. Geth space battle before the Geth Dreadnought mission has changed from the character creation music to a Geth battle song when Leviathan is installed. Bioware is slipping in some changes with their DLCs?

It's most likely intentional. Might try posting your video on the Mass Effect twitter page or Mike Gamble's, and see if it gets a response.

It does seem like Bioware favors Synthesis.

of course it was intentional...it's the ending they love most and the one we dislike the most...so of COURSE their going to force it on us as much as humanly possible. Cuz Space Magic is da best!

Okay, now I'm really puzzled by the Catalyst. If you take the lower dialogue option after his control spiel, this dialogue exchange would occur.

Shepard: "I didn't fight this war so I could give up everything I have."

Catalyst: "And I do not look forward to being replaced by you, but...I would be forced to accept it."

Considering that the Catalyst can turn off the Crucible at will, or eventually destroy the Crucible if you wait too long, this just baffles me. I mean, it's almost as if the Catalyst is selling Control here.

I personally don't mind skipping the visions. They're like training wheels. Once you've played the ending a few times, you don't need them.

I think this is the worst line in the game.

Also, it sounds like the Catalyst is being forced to help Shepard.

This dialogue was already there since the Extended Cut, RadicalDisconnect. I saw it.
Besides this kinda reinforce my feelings the Catalyst can only choose to turn off the Crucible if Shepard doesn't want to use the device.

Also to the OP: I beleive it would be interesting to ask someone on the twitter to see if they will confirm this as a bug or something intentional.

I don't think that's the only bug. I think the new dialogue with the Catalyst is a bit buggy. Because if you hit "Catalyst", the Starkid says "I was first created to oversee relations between synthetic and organic life. To establish a connection."

But then you hit "Reapers", the Catalyst pretty much says the same thing.

"They created me to oversee relations between synthetic and organic life. To establish a connection".

And maybe I'm overthinking it, but I think some other dialogue is just repeated.

B.Shep, I never took the lower dialogue option when talking to the Catalyst, so I found out about this just now. Nevertheless, this really the Catalyst look like a contradictory mess. He doesn't look forward to being replaced by Shepard, despite having the power to turn off the Crucible at will, even if Shepard shoots his hologram. He'll just stand and idly watch you replace him or destroy him, but if you wait for too long, the Reapers destroy the Crucible. I mean, WTF.

Arguably it is being forced. The Catalyst is revealed in Leviathan to be a shackled AI. His solution is dictated by his programming and he's not allowed to divert from his course until other viable solutions present themselves.

Shepard: Why tell me all this? Why help me?

Catalyst: You have altered the variables.

Shepard: What do you mean?

Catalyst: The Crucible changed me. Created new. . . possibilities. But I cant make them happen.

The Catalyst is bound and needed Shepard to make the choice to alter his course.

The glitch effects all the scenes including Synthesis, so sorry but there is no 'favoring' here. I also fail to see how that skipped line also implies favoring a certain ending.:pinched:

Pretty much this The Grey Nayr.
And if Shepard refuses to use the crucible the Catalyst simply keep going with his solution after turning of the device.

So anyone with a twitter account asked them about this?

I already posted this video on Mike Gamble's page, but I didn't get a response. I will try the Mass Effect twitter page.

it will always be the worst choice in my opinion

i dislike the way bioware always pushes their favorate wheather it's leliana from dragon age or liara tsoni it is really noticeable

there are writers that never let you know who they liked best in such an obvious and forced way

now we are getting it with synthesis

It's their story. It's their right. They're under no obligation to obey our preferences.

It's also arguable that they planned it from the start.

Also I noticed the new default Femshep looks like Leliana.

I disagree.Sure, maybe they have a favorite ending but i didn't feel like they were pushing one ending onto me with this DLC.

I agree, and we appear to not be alone on this issue on the forums. There have been several threads of people asking if their opinion on their favored ending changed, and almost every single poster said "Nope."

Of course, you're only locked into a single ending if you have an epically low EMS. And it ain't the Green one.

You have to earn the right to create synthesis.
